We came for a mini vacation and ended up leaving early. There were several issues with the property. However, the host generously gave a partial refund for the trouble and has corrected a few things already. The address VRBO provided was incorrect so it took awhile to find. The check in communication was minimal. The bed sizes were listed as queen size but has been corrected to double. We didnât realize that there was no air conditioning (thatâs on us). The window screens in the bathroom and bedroom need to be replaced because there was a big mosquito problem inside. We came during one of the hottest weeks and werenât able to sleep well due to the bugs/heat. Iâm sure it would be much better in the spring or fall. The area is nice and the house is a cozy space if you know what to expect and donât mind roughing it a bit.
This cottage was cute as can be! The beds were comfortable, although not queen beds. One kid slept comfortably on the couch. We could see the lake from the front of the house and the kitchen. We enjoyed sitting in the chairs at the front porch, hear the water as you watch people walk by or drive by in their golf carts and waved. It was a nice little neighborhood. Its relaxing to be close to the water, and there's a little boat ramp a short walk away where there were people fishing and the kids could swim. It's a rocky beach where it's fun to look at all the rocks and watch the sun set over the lake. The address that VRBO sent was wrong but Amy told me this information, but I had to ask the day of for the entry instructions. Communication was quick and helpful. It's small and quaint, like Grandma's house should be, and has everything you need. You'll enjoy it.
We had a great time at staying in the cottage in alpena. We came with our 3 year old and had a nice time exploring the city. The house is outside where most of the main attractions in but only a 15 minute drive. We went to the dinosaur park, Connieâs cafe, the old and new light house, the thunder harbor museum and shipwreck tours! There is not air conditioning there so a fan is a great idea to bring. I was a little unsure from the listing if the water was accessible from the cottage, thereâs a smalll spot down the road that would be good for paddle board entry but not beach access for swimming. There werenât instructions for check in and check out but Amy was so communicative throughout to help through the process.
Very cute and cozy cottage.. the address is wrong on the listing, however.. This made me worry.in the area for a family reunion. Rented a pantoon for three days. Perfect Summer weather.
