The Neighborhood:
Commonly known as "Foodie Row," the Hawthorne/Buckman District places you within walking distance of a diverse array of top-notch local flavorsâno chain restaurants here! Make new friends over vegan poutine fries and grilled PB&Js at the Cartopia food cart pod, share a pie at Apizza Scholls (consistently voted Portlandâs favorite pizza), or opt for a fancy night out at Castagnaâall within a 1.5-mile stretch.
Portland isnât just for foodies. Hawthorneâs vibrant indie spirit is alive with an abundance of made-in-Oregon shops and boutiques to explore, making it a true hipster haven. Catch a movie at Bagdad Theater and Pub, a revamped 1920s theater turned view-and-brew venue serving local McMenamins food and microbrews.
If bar hopping through neighborhoods isnât your idea of fun, head up to Mt. Tabor, a 196-acre city park atop a dormant volcano vent. Here, youâll find miles of hiking trails and incredible panoramic views of the city, perfect for a day of outdoor adventure.
