This is a cozy cottage high up in the trees. Iâve stayed in Gretna before and have always enjoyed it. This cottage was a bit more remote, which is perfect for peace and serenity. The cottage decor was enjoyable. I think with a few updates and ongoing cleaning and maintenance this cottage would be perfect.
Stayed here a few years back for the 4th and this year again for the 4th. Always a good time quiet neighborhood. Good for relaxing and close to Hershey park. Will be coming back more often now that my son is a little older!
If you like rustic, well-worn comfort, youâll love this property located in an intimate community of cottages straddling a densely wooded mountainside. Access is a bit rough, and there are steep stairs to the porch and between floors inside as well. But the porch is heavenly, a place to relax and commune cheek to jowl with nature.
Comfortable, charming, eclectic cottage with welcoming wrap around porch surrounded by tall rhododendrons. Walkable neighborhood. Great place to slow down and reconnect with self and others.
This was our 2nd time staying at The Cottage in the Woods, and it was just as nice as the first time. Staying in Mt. Gretna is magical, and we hope to do it again soon.
This little cottage was fabulous! The interior was comfortable and cute. There was a little play area upstairs. The beds were cozy, but not quite long enough if you're over 5'10".
I Loved the porch!
We'll definitely return if we get the chance.
We absolutely adored staying at this adorable cottage. We were looking for an authentic Gretna experience and thatâs exactly what we got. From the carefully curated antiques to the peaceful perfection of the wraparound porch, my partner and I got the rest, relaxation, and regeneration we sought out.
Our family was looking for a weekend get-a-way as a substitute for our vacation bc of COVID. This place was just the ticket. A great location near a bike path/lake and loved spending time on the wrap-around deck. Thank you, William!
Absolutely loved this place! Was on a work/mini vacation and everything was fantastic. Wifi was great, the cottage was whimsical, clean, and comfortable. Hosts were super responsive (no issues, just had questions about a few things.) Beds comfortable, porch was awesome. Loved it.
I loved relaxing on the large porch in the mornings with a cup of coffee. The cottage was exactly as advertised. My only complaints were that we were expected to bring our own sheets, which seemed strange to me, and there was no hand soap in the upstairs bathroom. Otherwise it was a great stay and I would definitely stay again.
Loved the colorful, funky kitchen and interesting collection of vintage furniture and decor. The wooded surroundings were beautiful, felt like we were in a treehouse when we sat on the porch. The narrow stairs were difficult for an elderly relative to navigate, but since they weâre staying elsewhere it wasnât a problem.
The cabin is quaint and quiet. Furnishings are period correct for a 1920's cabin....very cool, not always very comfortable. This would normally go largely unnoticed by us, but 5 of our 10 day stay was rain. There is a bit of a climb to get here, not the best choice for anyone with limitations. The porch is fabulous and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting out to read, watch the birds and smell the woods. Several good restaurants in the area and every person we encountered in Mt. Gretna was super friendly.
This place was fantastic! The cottage was the perfect size for a friend and I to escape the madness going on in the world right now. The porch has amazing views and listening to the tree frogs at night was so serene. I loved everything about this place! There is no parking now because the spot is now considered a handicap spot, but parking on the street was only a few yards away and the owner provided parking passes, so this did not disrupt our visit at all. If you want a place to relax, this is the perfect spot!!!
The home is lovely. It was a good place for me to work. The porch is perfect for study.
The only difficulty was the mildew and mold smell. I needed to leave early because I got a sinus infection which was worsening.
My wife and I grew up coming to The Mount Gretna Lake in the summer time. My uncle owned a summer home which I would visit and my Grand Parents always wanted a summer home here but never made it happen. When the opportunity to buy our cottage presented itself we moved on it and have never regretted our decision.
Very Cute romantic cottage in the woods. Very close to all the activity in Mount Gretna. Theater-Playhouse, Lake, Jigger Shop, Hideaway, Gift Shop, Playground Basketball Court
Cottage sits high above the street and reminds you of a very nice tree house. Cottage was built in the 1890s and still holds that original romantic charm.
