This comfortable home is lovely retreat from the hustle and bustle of it all situated in the Easternmost city in the United States. Fall in love with Eastport, the former Sardine Capital of the World, and enjoy all the magic this vibrant, welcoming community in Maine has to offer.
We had a wonderful stay! The location was perfect, and the house and property exceeded our expectations. Everything was so easy and relaxing from start to finish. We enjoyed the short drive into town, the easy walk down the path to the beach, and the beautiful views from the windows. The kitchen was fully stocked, everything was spotless, and the ocean breezes were incredible. We canât wait to return next summer!
The house was beautiful but not ready for rental. Stones in path to front door were laid but not graveled or grouted, causing a safety hazard. Ladder and hose were laying in the yard.Towels were in the dryer upon our arrival, we folded them and put them away. There is no air conditioning, and no screens in the windows. I contacted the owner who told me there were no bugs so opening the windows shouldnât be a problem. This is completely untrue. My husband had to find the screens in the basement and install them himself.I asked for a partial refund, if not for anything else then to pay for my 62 yr old husbandâs work in installing the screens. The owner offered no refund, but instead a âdiscount for next yearâ, which was disingenuous as I told her we would not be returning to the area.
We met while in Boston a jillion years ago and spent a lot of time exploring southern Maine. A few years ago we traveled up to Eastport and truly feel we found one of the most special places ever! We live in North Carolina now.
Being in Eastport is almost like stepping back in time....with internet and cell service! It is a lovely artist filled community with amazing history and friendly people.
