Summary:
The Sunshine House is your family vacation home. It’s a TRUE beach house that is accessed directly from the beach, sitting among the sand dunes with a priceless view of the sunrise over the ocean and the sunset in late afternoon. Comfortable, clean, and currently updated! You won’t be disappointed!
The Space:
The beach house has two king bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs with a kitchen and large living area that opens onto a large deck. The beach view is amazing! The downstairs 2 car garage, has a shower, washer and dryer and extra refrigerator. The garage opens to the enclosed patio that accesses the the downstairs bedroom and fenced patio. The downstairs bedroom is separate from the upstairs living space. It sleeps 4, one queen bed and two singles. There are 2 portable cribs with sheets for house use only. There is a cot for an extra tot. The shower and bathroom has been recently updated. The vanity is accessible to the open bedroom.
All bedrooms offer Smart TVs with cable and Netflix, Pandora, etc. and the home includes free WiFi. The driveway has plenty of parking for several vehicles and a trailer, with an additional 2-car garage. It is a sand caliche driveway that is accessed only from the beach between beach markers 9 and 10. Four wheel drive is recommended during dry summer conditions.
You will be driving on the beach to get to our driveway. There are two houses at the end of our driveway. Ours is on the right with big yellow letters that say, ”The Sunshine House”. If there is sand buildup in the driveway, go 15 mph and you will do just fine. Stop and you may have a problem!

We offer self-check-in. Starkey Rentals by Portoro uses smart locks.
•We cannot guarantee early check-ins or late checkouts in advance. If the house happens to be ready earlier than our standard 4 pm check-in time on the day of your arrival, we, in most cases will allow an early check-in. For a reliable alternative with guaranteed check-in or check-out timing, it's recommended to book the night before or after your scheduled arrival or departure.
Getting Around:
Embrace the laid-back island life by opting for a golf cart, the preferred choice of both locals and visitors. For a touch of adventure and a bit of exercise, rent a bicycle and pedal through charming streets, discovering hidden gems while enjoying the salty breeze. Take it slow with leisurely beachfront strolls, exploring shops, and savoring local cuisine on foot. Enjoy the ferry ride not just as a means of transport but as an experience with breathtaking views and possible dolphin sightings.

No beach parking permit is needed - walk to the beach in seconds!
City of Port Aransas - Beach Parking Permit Information:
To park along the beaches in the City of Port Aransas, a $12.00 permit is required. This applies to the area from Marker (0) to Marker (62).
Free parking areas are available between the Jetties and Horace Caldwell Pier, as well as between Markers 52-58.
Other Things to Note:
Please pay close attention to following the HOUSE RULES: Non-compliance could result in sizable fines.
- All guests staying at a Starkey Rentals by Portoro home are required to sign a rental agreement and complete identity registration.
- Age restrictions apply. Please inquire for more information.
- All guests must be included on the guest list and not exceed the maximum number stated on the listing.
- To ensure your safety, proper access to the home, and guest features, ALL guests are required to read the house manual upon arrival and notify Portoro with any questions.
- Known damages incurred during your stay must be reported to the property manager immediately.
- Before check-in, we will send you detailed directions to ensure a seamless arrival.
- Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
- Pets are not allowed at this home. If undisclosed pets are brought into the home without Portoro’s approval, there will be a cleaning charge of $500.
- We cannot guarantee early check-ins or late checkouts. When it is possible to check in early or check out late, there will be a fee for anything outside of a one-hour window within our standard times. If your need for an early check-in or late check-out is great, your best option is to book an additional night.
- HOTEL TAX COLLECTION: Both the City of Port Aransas and the State of Texas require all hotel and vacation rental hosts to collect hotel tax. We collect these two taxes within the booking transaction. The state requires 6% and the city requires 7%.
- LONG-TERM STAYS: (Snowbird, long-term rental, winter Texas, winter Texan). Contact Portoro Homes to discuss if a long-term stay discount applies to this listing. Stays over 29 days are waived from paying the State and Local Hotel Tax. However, there are additional fees we need to collect for damage coverage and housekeeping. In compliance with our policies for long-term stays, we need to collect an additional cleaning fee for guests staying longer than 3 weeks. Your Guest Ambassador will coordinate the cleaning schedule for a minimum of once every 2 weeks. You can request cleanings more frequently if desired. Additional cleaning charges will be sent using a payment request or resolution request, immediately following the cleaning. Your guest ambassador will reply shortly and be available to assist you where needed.
