A peaceful property nestled at the base of the beautiful Tucson Mountains
This peaceful five acre property nestled at the base of the beautiful Tucson Mountains provides a quiet get away in the midst of the Sonoran desert within a few minutes of the excitement of the city of Tucson. A bird and wildlife watching haven. Our home was hand built by a homesteading family with stone quarried from the nearby Tucson Mountains and is a true one of a kind
It offers a unique character all its own, from the cozy inside to our many outdoors living spaces.
We have kept the rustic charm of our home to honor its past so expect some quirks! This is a well-loved, pet and family friendly home perfect those who love nature, hiking, wildlife and bird watching.
We stayed here only a couple nights while celebrating our son's graduation. We really enjoyed the quiet surroundings and the spacious living areas, including two outdoor options. There were great accommodations for our dog and owners were quick to respond to any questions we had. It'd be a great place for a longer stay when you're looking to "get away" for some peace and quiet, or for a large family gathering. Highly recommend!
Amazingly cool house, too much character to describe. The desert around the house was alive with critters but the location was quiet and secluded. Nice place to relax and yet be close to the Tucson attractions. True desert house.
We loved this place, and the hosts, so much we hope to return next year. It's close to town yet you get to experience the absolute magic of the desert. We loved sitting out on the porch watching the wildlife. The stars are so clear. It's genuinely magical. Cecil, the pet tortoise, was a wonderful part of the stay. The hosts thought of everything to make it the perfect, comfortable stay and we look forward to returning next year!
The house and property was everything we could ask for. A unique old house with plenty of room, fun amenities like a piano, record player, and hot tub, a great yard for dogs, and lots of outdoor living space. Itâs the best of both worlds being 15min from town, but surrounded by open space, howling coyotes, owls, and all kinds of song birds. All the logistics were easy, Barbara and Jose were easy enough to get a hold of, and worked through the couple minor issues we had. Would definitely stay again.
We stayed for nearly two weeks at this wonderful property. It was an oasis of desert beauty just brimming with plants and wildlife. Birds, bobcats, javelina, and coyotes oh my! This historic homeâs whimsical, relaxed atmosphere just made us want to stay longer. Outdoor seating galore, we spent so much time just sitting on the front porch watching the feeders. We loved this house and know you will too. Barbara and Jose are perfect hosts. We plan to come again! -Lori and Ray from Oregon
I grew up in this home and on this land and have always delighted in the many facets of the Tucson Mountain area. We also love being able to access downtown Tucson so easily. We take advantage of the live music scene. Jose is a musician and Tucson has a great music scene. We are excited to host because our home brings us and our friends joy and we want to share that with others.
From our patios, you can watch the famous Sonoran desert sunrise and sunsets. Just before dawn, the coyotes run the washes yipping to each other. Owls hoot in the moonlight. In the mornings, you can enjoy your coffee while watching the many varieties of local and seasonal birds gather at our bird feeders.
Our home was hand built by homesteaders out of stone quarried from the Tucson Mountains. We have intentionally maintained the rustic elements of the original construction and mirrored them in our additions. The property abuts a natural wash, encouraging the wildlife to flow through and near the property. It is not unusual to see javelina, coyote, bobcat, deer and a wide variety of birds.
