Large Dining/HotTub/Wheelchair Friendly/BeachVball
Welcome to The Great Pyrenees! Wheelchair ramp access, wheelchair-accessible bedroom, and wheelchair-sized shower (not roll-in) on the main level. Hardwood floors throughout. A dining table that can comfortably seat 12-18 guests. This home has many entertainment options: Enjoy the sand volleyball court or hot tub while you grill out on the deck. Or stay indoors to watch movies, shoot pool, play shuffleboard and foosball. We have great WiFi here.
We rented this property to celebrate my daughterâs 30th birthday. It coincided with an event in nearby Allentown. The house is exactly as pictured. More than enough space for everyone. The game room was one of the most used rooms, coming in second to the dining room. We saw so many deer and other wild life. Melissa was a pleasure to work with. Great response time even to the all our questions. Would definitely come back.
We booked this rental for a getaway with extended family. After booking, I received many emails about property rules and regulations from the HOA including the need to purchase additional wristbands per day if our entire family wanted to use amenities of the HOA. Garbage had to be driven to a disposal site as well. This was not listed in the VRBO description and the emails were a bit overwhelming. After verifying my identity and registering all vehicles and reading additional rules that were emailed, I purchased insurance because I was so worried we were going to be fined for something (we are very much rule followers). All of the rules I read ahead of time gave me the impression that the property would be pristine, and it was not. The yard was not usable for the first 2 days of our stay because the grass was over a foot high. We were disappointed because the younger kids we had with us usually play outside when we vacation. The house was spacious and we had plenty of kitchen (we enjoyed the two fridges) and dining space, however, there wasnât a convenient living room area for our group to be comfortable in. There were also signs throughout the house about fines for various missing items, how it to lose money, etc. The host communicated a lot (almost too much) and Iâm sure any issues would have been taken care of if something arose. The location was great for us. A lot of positives, but definitely some negatives.
The house is exactly as pictured and described on the website. The house has plenty of room for a large group. I would definitely recommend this property for your next family/friends gathering.
Our family with kids & grandkids stayed in this lovely home. There was plenty of room to spread out & do different activities in separate groups. Loved the long table where we were able to all eat meals together.
Lovely property with spacious bedrooms. The property was clean with lot of amenities and games to keep you busy throughout the day. The house was well kept and had all the offerings that are listed.
The property manager was prompt in response and has clearly list the check-in / checkout process.
We had a great trip and enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room and lots to do at the house. We wish the weather had been a little more accommodating, but we survived the mid-April snow. Melissa was quick to try to rectify any issues that came up. We are trying to figure out if we can get the group back together one more time before the "boys" head off to college.
The house was huge, very clean, the property was large , areas for everyone to hang out and the kids to run around and play. It also had a wing of the house with a bar, pool table, foosball,... which we used alot. Allowed us to have 2 entertainment/ hang out areas, the other being the family room. As the property had access to a community pool and beach, which did not provide beach chairs of any type, it would have been great for the house to have some cheap portable beach chairs that we were able to take to the beach/pool, as all the residents knew to bring their own.
This rental was exactly as stated. The house was very clean and very well-stocked. We were a family of almost 20 and there was plenty of room for everyone with lots to do. great to have a table where we could all eat together at the same time ... The owners go out of their way To make sure you have everything you need. And for the things you forget thereâs a Dollar General five minutes away with everything you could need... Everything is labeled and very well organized. After a day of skiing the hot tub was great Or a relaxing bath in the beautiful tub.. It rained most of the day Saturday but with the fabulous game room we had plenty to do. I would definitely stay there again without any hesitation. Thank you Autumn and Ed for sharing your beautiful home..
Amazing!! Rented the property for a weekend birthday celebration/family reunion for my mother who turned 85. The house was fantastic! Spacious enough for all 20 of us. Rooms were large. The game room was so much fun - we spent our evenings playing games, pool, and shuffleboard. It was nice to be able to all fit around the dining room table. Everything was labeled to help us in our stay. Loads of communication leading up to our stay and during the stay. Our host was fabulous - so responsive and helpful - even after our stay when we thought we had left an item in one of the bedrooms. When we weren't in the game room we were outside playing volleyball. My mother was able to take multiple walks around the property. She had a blast watching (laughing) at us playing volleyball. Nearby is the beach and lake, we several of us took advantage of, as well as the tennis courts. We are a very active bunch and the property and surrounding area provided plenty of entertainment. We all wished we could've stayed longer!
We had a lovely vacation at this property. It is big and spacious and it was clean.
Two points of frustration: The term "linens provided" means one thin blanket for every two person bed. I was dumbfounded that a house that advertises that it "sleeps 22" offered such a skimpy number and quality of blankets. After a LOT of back and forth, yes they did deliver us some more blankets.
Secondly, it was rather disheartening after a lot of back forth conversation regarding how many wristbands we were allowed to have to take advantage of the amenities in the area (only eight wrist bands are included for a house that sleeps 22(!!!), it was rather interesting to show up at the local beach area to find out that it is completely closed (and had been for a while) because of an ecoli issue at the lake. Funny how that information somehow was not shared earlier....It would be rather hard to believe that this was not known at the time...
As I recall when much earlier in the summer I had been perusing ads for rental homes, I had one across an advertised house where the owner specifically wrote that the lake amenities would not be available because of an ecoli issue. I was struck by the honesty. Apparently rare and not to be assumed for every renter.
Enjoyed a six night stay at the Great Pyraneese House in the Poconos. House worked well for our group. Would have liked extended trash dump hours, less threatening fines for breakbreaking the 105 rules we were greeted with, and being more trusted. Guests are rated by their past performance at rentals to show trustworthiness. Just donât rent to anyone not rated instead of giving so many rules a person can hardly read through them all.
Also for the very high cleaning fee I expected more. The floors were not the best, some of the dishes were stacked dirty, and a pot and some bakeware were very dirty, and upon wiping down the kitchen countertops realized they were also quite dirty. Bathrooms were fine except a sharp edge on one shower threshold from an incorrect tile job (we did report this).
You need some noise control in the home, a few area rugs would be nice and help a lot. We did appreciate the extra sports equipment and games. Had a small problem with the community office being closed for two days of our stay resulting in us not having a car tag to dump trash because of a rental car. There should be a better solution to this. Perhaps the host could give a generic trash/parking pass when this happens. Host was very nice but also caught in the 105 rules. I wish she had turned the heat thermostats up shortly ahead of our arrival. It took the first night for the large house to warm up so was very cold sleeping the first night.
A small outdoor dog waste receptical would have been nice for bagged dog waste, especially for the very expensive extra dog fee. We found a suitable container but it was full of rock salt.
We are also VRBO owners, hosts, and the cleaning staff, so understand the difficulties.
My mother-in-law wanted to visit the town where she was born (Slatington PA) for her 102nd birthday celebration, and so we rented this spacious, lovely, well-located and handicapped-accessible home for 7 of us, plus our dog. It was an ideal location for our January gathering, with a full and well equipped kitchen, huge dining room table, an awesome game room and beautiful wooded views. We knowingly had far more bedrooms and bathrooms then needed (21 capacity) , and I expect this would be an especially excellent house for a very large multi generational gathering. Due to the season and mostly cold and rainy weather, we didn't use all of the home's features (aka volleyball pit, outdoor eating areas) but they looked great. The property manager, Melissa, was very responsive to messages, and she and the owner were very receptive to minor suggestions we had for the check-in process, and for updating the game room and pantry items. Along with being close to my mother-,in-law's hometown, the house is less than 10 minutes from restaurants, grocery stores and hiking/skiing areas. I'm not sure if or when we'll be back in the Poconos, but I'd definitely stay in this home and/or use Mars Hill Realty (property managers) again.
Nice for large family gathering: Game room, clean hot tub, Lg dining table, laundry rm, 2 Lg refrigs
The large house made it possible for our family of 19 people to be together in one place for a couple of days (This included our aging parents who are grandparents, their adult children, and their grandchildren).
The large dining room table was very nice so we could all sit together for meals. The hot tub was wonderful, a good size and very clean! (One of the cleanest Iâve seen). The large game room with a wide variety of games was a popular place for everyone of all ages, kids and adults alike! The weather was very hot outside, so the coolness of that room was nice. Still, our teenagers and some adults enjoyed playing volleyball in the backyard when it was in the shade.
The large island and two large refrigerators with freezers in the kitchen were a big help (bring ice cube trays). The laundry room with two washers and one dryer were also helpful. The wheelchair ramp made it easy for my mother-in-law who uses a wheelchair, to be wheeled into the house. The communication with Melissa and Jen was helpful, pleasant and prompt. Our family enjoyed their stay.
My family and I wanted a home that felt cozy, spacious & also entertaining for all ages. & having to consider a wheelchair accessibility & and dog in the matter it this home was the PERFECT fit for our family. We headed up to the Poconos for a family paint-balling trip. The location was perfection! Our boys couldnât have been more happier with the home. Each room was so spacious and lots of things to do to enjoy family time together. My family and I will DEFINITELY be renting again!! Totally worth renting!!
