We had a wonderful time staying at this classic Maine camp. It was clean and provided all the amenities needed for our stay. The land was beautiful and sloped down to a nice dock and swimming area. We look forward to staying again next summer!
Year 6 or 7 I believe it is that we have been going there. A great fit with our laid back lifestyle. Clean, simple, basic Maine camp cottage with a superb location on the lake. And fantastic owners to work with. Love this place.
Nice cottage by the lake. Air conditioners made the stay even more enjoyable. We picked a very hot week There was an issue with the septic system but once we notified the owner it was completely resolved within a few short hours. Thank you !!
Consistently, a special place to unwind, swim, kayak, fish and visit local out of the way sites/restaurants before the school year cranks up. basic. nofrills. ideal for us.
Love this spot on the lake. Nice and quiet but shops and restaurants only about 15 minutes away. Have stayed here about 5 times. We would come every summer if we could.Typical Maine cottage. Awesome dock to have coffee on and swim from. This year was just the two of us but kids usually come up too. Great fishing also. Wish we stayed longer!
The cottage is a beautiful place to reset. We love kayaking and fishing everyday, as well as, napping and reading when it is too hot outside. We have kayaks delivered each year and it is a very easy process. I love the area leading up to the water, as well as, the dock area to sit on at night or early morning. We rarely leave the cottage during our stay. Only to go to town once or twice for fresh seafood. It is a quiet little getaway. Thank you.
My friend and I enjoyed a very much enjoyed spending our week at the cabin & getting the rest and recovery we both needed. I enjoyed kayaking in the am to watch the sun rise & in the evening to watch the sun set :-). Gretchen enjoyed fishing throughout the day and napping. Hearing the loons throughout the day and relishing in the quiet during the evening provided us with a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Thank you the Dauites for sharing their little pjece of paradise âïž
The camp is a real camp and we could totally relax there. There is a little distance to walk to the water across a large lawn. The beach area was a good size-enough for 3 kayaks to go in and out and a nice dock. It was quiet (September). The location is good for exploring coves and islands. The bed were very firm. We brought foam toppers to help. The kitchen had everything we needed
This is our third year staying at Damariscotta Lake! Love it!! It's our happy place! Mark and Sherry are quick to respond whenever we need anything! Great people!
Beautiful location on lake! Front porch was nice to sit on for sunny days. The camp needs TLC regarding beds, pots and pans, silverware, not 1 Tablespoon, coffee maker, very dark (low voltage light bulbs), lacks work space in kitchen, lack of wi-fi coverage for TV like other vacation rentals on Damariscotta Lake. Ores that did not fit the row boat, needs additional bottom step for floating dock to get out of the water. As a child and adult my family has owned and rented several "camps" over the years this by far was the most primitive. Suggestion, great make over for Maine Cabinet Masters.
Once again we had a fantastic week on the lake. We have stay at this cottage a number of times over the years and always enjoy coming back. The new shower was a pleasant upgrade. We spend most of our time at the water but the long grassy lawn provides a wonderful place to play Frisbee. We will definitely be back.
just what we wanted. simple. clean. quiet. basic maine lakeside camp. beautiful cove. great swimming platform. be sure to bring your own kayaks and lawn chairs. everything else is there including ac and tv/dvd. owners are nice/easy to work with.
We are the 3rd and 4th generations to live on, and love, 'the lake' as it is known to us. We are Mark and Sheryl Daiute and Family. Mark's grandfather Louis Howland and great Uncle, Dudley Howland, first camped and fished here as young men in 1903. In 1916 they bought adjoining lots on the lake and together they built a cottage straddling their common boundary line. That cottage still stands and is owned by Mark's cousins.
Beginning in the late 1960's Mark's Uncle Ralph, along with his parents built and rented 'Wildwood Cottages' on this lot. Into the very early 90's there were a total of 6 cottages. During the early 90's all the cottages were removed except ours, 'old Number 6' leaving the spacious lot we enjoy today. The land along with Old Number 6 was handed to the next generation with the passing of Mark's mom in 1995.
In addition to being active parents Mark and Sheryl enjoy living history. Sheryl was a very active leader in the local Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop and Mark is an avid outdoorsman. Mark and Sheryl own a local land surveying business - Mark is a licensed Land Surveyor (since 1995) and Sheryl is a paralegal/title abstractor.
If you can tear yourselves away from the lake, there is much to see and do in the surrounding area. Use our camp as your base to explore the Pemaquid Region, beautiful Acadia National Park and the historic Kennebec Valley Region. While you are out, be sure to get a sandwich from our friends at Fernald's Country Store (Main Street, Damariscotta)!
