Lovely place right on the water with comfortable beds, games, kayaks, fishing and great bird watching. Easy to locate and great communication with the host. Some outdoor furniture was damaged when we arrived and Josh said he would be replacing it. We enjoyed using the back deck, dock and Griddle to cook out on. Nice place for a family vacation for 5 of us. Loved seeing all of the birds but eagles up close were a highlight.

We absolutely loved our stay at this house! Everything was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had all the little touches that made it feel like home. The beds were super comfortable, and the outdoor space was perfect for relaxing. Being right on the water made it even more special — the views were beautiful, and having kayaks available to use was such a great bonus. The location was perfect too — close to everything but still peaceful and private. The host Joshua was kind, responsive, and made check-in a breeze. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would definitely stay here again!

Very lovely. One thing to note is that there is not a bathroom upstairs, just two bedrooms. The bathroom with the walk-in shower is in the basement.Joshua is a great host.

Lake getaway to escape the summer heat

We booked this place last minute (day before) on a Sunday and Joshua was super responsive. I think as soon as my payment was confirmed he messaged to thanks us for booking his place and let us know that he would contact us a bit later with check-in details, which he did, also with a few tips for a great stay. We were 6 all together, including our two teenagers and the place was ideal in that the kids got their own beds. The kitchen is well stocked with almost all that we needed. The only thing we missed was a mixing bowl/salad bowl. However the house is well stocked - even laundry detergent. We thoroughly enjoyed the the large deck, the grill (with propane supplied!) and the kayaks that we took out on the supremely relaxing Van Etten Lake. We were there mid-week and the vibe was quiet, peaceful and restorative, not always a given on Michigan lakes in the summer. In the evenings we all enjoyed playing on the pool table in the garage and playing games together. It was all together a great couple of days away even if the weather didn't 100% cooperate (it rained our last evening). I would whole-heartedly recommend this place to anyone that is still able to move around easily. Watching the water and hanging out on the deck was undeniably the highlight. Teenagers loved the kayaks, pool table, TVs and WiFi . The walk-in shower downstairs was also great. Thanks to Joshua for opening up this place to us.

We had a great week at this lake house while we were in town for a wedding. Josh was super responsive. That kind of attentiveness made the whole experience feel easy and low-stress.The house itself is a beautiful rehab with fresh updates throughout. The lake views are a real highlight. We spent a lot of time just enjoying them from the main living areas. It felt peaceful and private, exactly what we were hoping for during a busy wedding weekend.The layout is a little quirky and took a moment to get used to. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with no bathroom on that level, so you do have to head downstairs. The lower level is lovely—coastal, bright, and freshly finished with a brand-new bathroom—but there’s no bedroom down there, so we didn’t end up using the space. For our group it worked out fine, but it’s worth noting. We didn’t get a chance to use the kayaks or the game room in the garage. We enjoyed our stay. The combination of the host’s great communication, the updated house, and those pretty lake views made it a winner. We’d happily recommend it.

Excellent Lakefront Retreat in Oscoda!I stayed at this beautiful waterfront lake house on Van Ettan Lake the week of May 24 with my two children, and we had a wonderful time. The home was clean, comfortable, and filled with natural light, with amazing lake views from the living area and spacious deck. It had everything we needed for a relaxing family getaway, with plenty of space for all of us to unwind and enjoy our stay.The outdoor amenities were definitely a highlight for our family — the private dock, kayaks, paddle board, lakeside fire pit, and patio made it easy to enjoy the lake from morning to night. My children especially loved being by the water, and I appreciated how peaceful and relaxing the setting was.Joshua was a wonderful host and helped make our stay even better. Overall, this was a fantastic lakefront stay and a perfect place to make family memories. We would highly recommend this property and would definitely stay again!
