We loved The Songbird Villa. Everything we needed was there. Enjoyed touring around Tampa., beautiful beaches at Fort Desoto Park, Honeymoon Island and Sand Key in Clearwater. Riverwalk was great as well as Ybor City Saturday Market. Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City was fantastic. Christie and Stuart are wonderful hosts with beautiful grounds and a Koi Pond.
Beautiful Historic updated home. With the most beautiful and unique garden area.
The property is very maintained and beautiful. Owners do an amazing work. The dog on property is the best tampered and energetic. Enjoyed her company and playing fetch. For me the garden area was the most relaxing area, with the fish pond and water falls always running. Great Atmosphere for relaxation and some yoga. We stayed in the up stair lofted. It was very clean and decorated with some antique and updated items. A beautiful poach with a nice view. Every night around 9:30 u could the fire works show from Bush gardens. The owners live on property and where kind and a pleasure to chat with when relaxing in their gardens. The neighbor had lots of nature and a beautiful park in walking distance. Very convenient location to alot of different attractions. Driving to locations was alittle overwhelming because it looks and feels a bit geto. But once u turn down the road the Scenery changes to a beautiful clean antique neighborhood.. The neighborhood was clean, kept up, and quiet. I would definitely come back again and again
The pictures don't do the place justice. We all loved everything about this home. The owners were pleasant and accommodating. We ate dinners on the deck, it was peaceful and relaxing. It is close to everything, lots to do, lots of places to eat. I promise that you would not be disappointed to stay here.
The bungalow was as advertised! It was clean, neat and well appointed. It's located in a comfortable neighborhood and has several nice restaurants close by. We would definitely return.
We stayed four nights and booked the property specifically because of the beautiful yard and patio advertised on Vrbo. When we were there, the owners were out with their dog, and we felt uncomfortable invading them. If you have a dog that is scared of other dogs like ours, I wouldnât book. Their dog is very lovely and sweet, but if your dog is scared or doesnât like other dogs, I wouldnât recommend it. Their dog is out all the time. We had to walk ours on a small patch of grass. Otherwise, the home was beautiful. Our favorite part we got to enjoy was the screened-in porch.
We enjoyed the friendly hosts; the apartment is the perfect size to relax and enjoy the warm weather and I felt safe running in the neighborhood for morning exercise. Would definitely return should we stay in the Tampa area again.
Very peaceful stay with excellent communication and concern from the owners at every inch of the way. Lovex the property.. We enjoyed Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete area too. We will be back again.
Christine and Stuart are awesome hosts! Their property is beautiful. You wonât want to leave. We were there for 11 days and it felt like home. They are helpful, thoughtful and great to hang out with. Will go back again!
Quaint, charming, old southern charm. Nice accommodations. Views of beautiful backyard grounds. Cozy enclosed front porch. Seeing the koi pond was a treat.
We loved Christie's and Stuart's property. The apartment was spacious, super clean, nicely decorated and it had everything we needed to have an amazing stay, including a fully stocked kitchen and enough books and board games to keep us busy.
We had fun visiting Clearwater beach and the Lowry Zoo, and ate at very yummy restaurants.
Christie and Stuart are very gracious hosts and helped us with all our questions. Both their house and property are lovely and we enjoyed visiting their back yard and koi pond!
Morning coffee and evenings in the back upstairs porch listening to the birds and reading were relaxing and well needed, and our long walks around their quaint and beautiful neighborhood with our dog, Lucy were super fun.
Thanks Christie and Stuart, we absolutely loved your home and plan on coming back!
We had a wonderful and peaceful stay in Old Seminole Heights. The property manager was very helpful in providing names and restaurants and grocery stores. They have a wonderful yard and a playful dog. We enjoyed the games and books that we used on the great front porch. Loved the apartment and the furnishings. They had everything we needed.
We stayed for 3 weeks in this spacious apartment located in a charming neighborhood of craftsman style bungalows. There are three waterfront parks along the Hillsborough River, starting just a block away, providing a delightful loop for walking.
The apartment is well-furnished with everything you need. The second-floor screened-in porch was a favorite spot for us, with the pleasant sound of the fountain in the front yard. The house sits on 3 lots, so provides a quiet nicely landscaped retreat for relaxation.
We did day trips to the Gulf Beaches (Indian Rocks Beach), Fort deSoto, the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, the Ybor Historic District, the Tampa Bay History Museum and the riverwalk. Since the Songbird Villa isn't too far from I-275, such day trips were easy.
Christi & Stuart were very helpful with suggestions and information.
The only downside is that Nebraska Avenue (the closest main street) has seen better days and doesn't have any restaurants, stores or shops of interest. You have to drive several miles to get to places to eat or shop.
This is a hidden gem. Don't hesitate to book it!
I liked:
1. Kitchen was available
2. Owners responded quickly (the bathtub was not draining and they fixed it)
I did not like:
1. Having the owners living in the same building. We had to keep the kids as quiet as possible but was hard.
2. The place is very old (unless you like old places). The cabinets and dressers drawers were difficult to open. It smelled weird.
3. The place is not suitable if you have young children (many things they can play with or damage or get hurt with)
4. The tone of the owners changed on the day we left. My son mistakenly took pillows thinking they were ours. They bombarded me with phone calls and text messages while driving and threatened to take action. Once I got to a place to search my car, I found them and returned them. That experience and the way they changed to being seemingly hostile ruined my day. Why would I steal old pillows!?
We had a wonderful stay at the Songbird Villa. Christie and Stuart are great hosts, very charming and kind. Our two kids (4yo and 1yo) loved it.
The apartment, located on the first floor, is tastefully decorated, we liked it very much.
The location in Old Seminole Heights is a good place to start trips to Tampa and to the surrounding area. There are many old Florida-Style houses in the neighborhood, many big old trees and the hillsborrough river is quiet near.
We definitely recommend the Songbird Villa as the place for a stay in Tampa.
When going with children we can also highly recommend the children's Museum and the Tampa zoo.
Great location. Spacious area that feels like home
Great location, very nice hosts with a cute bungalow, koi pond and great yard. Location in close to Busch gardens and everything around Tampa. We will be back, thank you for the great stay.
My sisters and I enjoyed our five day stay while we attended the Joyce Meyers conference in Tampa at the Amalie Arena. Christie and Stuart were both friendly and welcoming. Stuart answered all of our questions about the area and places and restaurants to go to. Christie has style! The eclectic furnishings blended together beautifully with her ability to weave colorful designs into every room. How lovely to open the french doors onto the screened in porch. The outdoor grounds were inviting and we spent time near the koi pond and in the rocking chairs close to the fireplace. Would definitely stay here again!
The place is big and it has a nice kitchen and the bedrooms are nice. It has a relaxing screened in Lanai that I liked. The stairs going up to the place are a little long and narrow. So be aware that it is a 2nd floor dwelling.Overall, it was a nice place to stay. I would stay there again.
The property was clean and fit our needs perfectly. The hosts were very nice and helpful
As it was evident via GPS that we were within a mile or so of the property, we were nervous and thought we made a big mistake by looking at the neighborhood via the highway, but upon getting closer to the property and then especially once we got to the property, our fears were unwarranted. We felt safe and it was a beautiful area and the apartment was nice, spacious, clean and had a well stocked kitchen (no food of course, but all the other essentials needed) the screened-in porch was one of our favorite features. We had five people so having two toilets was essential and even though the half bath is literally in a closet, it served it's purpose and we were glad it was there. If I had one negative it would be we were charged a $95.00 cleaning fee upon booking and also asked to strip our own bedding and bag up our towels and the bathroom rugs. We are not messy people so not sure what the $95.00 all covered but if that's the only negative, it's not bad. You couldn't ask for nicer hosts and they provided us several tips for places to go and ideas of things to do. If we find ourselves heading back to this area we will for sure stay again!
The house is just as cute as the pictures portray with a few hidden gems. I ended up being sick for part of our vacation and having a nice place to relax at was such a blessing! The covered porch outside of the living room was so relaxing. The location was great because it was only 5 minutes from Busch Gardens and around the corner from a park with a public pool.
Christie was a great hostess and was available via text if we had any questions. The kitchen was fully stocked with basic essentials which was very helpful.
We would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a cozy little spot hidden in Tampa.
Exactly as described - a beautiful property with real southern charm
Christie and Stuart were there to meet us as we arrived after our long flight from the UK. The house was spotless and had everything we required. We wanted for nothing.
