Puffin Rock - Private Oceanfront Beach in Brooklin, Maine

Welcome to Puffin Rock! Sitting on two-wooded acres on the shores of Herrick Bay in beloved Brooklin, Puffin Rock, with 5 bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms, sleeps 10 comfortably. Guests need only to bring food, drink and personal items, the house is well equipped for guests to quickly settle in and feel welcome. The first floor provides a spacious living and dining room, a cozy couch room, a breakfast nook looking out at the ocean, two fireplaces, an art and game room, and a full kitchen with plenty of storage. It leads out to the spacious oceanside deck with comfortable seating, a large dining table, and a gas grill. 5 bedrooms are on the second floor, with 1 king bed, 3 queen beds, and a twin bunk bed. Follow the path to Puffin Rock’s private beach and enjoy kayaking and paddleboarding, both provided, and of course look for Puffin Rock. This house is a great choice for families and friends who want to spend vacation time together and make wonderful memories. As a recent guest wrote: "Puffin Rock checks all the boxes."

Brooklin is a favorite of summer visitors, many who return year after year. Known for its boat building and maritime traditions, the area is home to writers, painters, boatbuilders and craftsmen. Wooden Boat School is just down the road, Acadia National Park is an hour away, and Deer Isle is a 20-minute drive. The village has a friendly general store, library, candy store, restaurants, a must - visit gift shop, summer farmers' market, and more.

Fiber, high-speed internet and streaming TV. Please ask if you'd like to bring your dog. Cats cannot be accommodated. Saturday to Saturday-Saturday rentals during June, July and August. Available for winter rental November - April.

Property was beautiful and very clean and well stocked to meet all our needs. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and just relaxing. It was so peaceful. We saw several deer during our stay. My granddaughter loved exploring on the beach. Would recommend this to everyone.

Great art retreat location and accommodation!

Our group of 6 Maine artists had a wonderful time staying in Puffin Rock. So many beautiful places to paint in and around Brooklin. We’ll equipped kitchen with a gas stove a real plus.

Maine coastal get away

Our group of nine stayed in Puffin Rock for a week while we explored Acadia Park, Bar Harbor and the surrounding area. We enjoyed Puffin Rock and had a blast. Beautiful home, lovely neighbors, amazing views, well equipped and clean.

Loved our stay

My husband and I stayed with our five children ranging in ages from 17 to 5. We all had a great time. The house had everything we needed and the kids enjoyed the water toys. If we ever decide to vacation in Maine again we would love to stay here again.

Clean, well stocked and beautiful views. We liked the location. They had a whole house generator, which came in handy, when a car hit a pole and the whole area lost power for the day. The only suggestion is the house inside and out could use some TLC.

Great View!

It was great! Loved the fire pit evenings watching the sun go down over the water! Great location! Plenty of space!! This home doesn’t work for someone who is disabled, because of all bedrooms being upstairs, and all the steps from room to room downstairs!.

Beautiful

We loved our stay. Puffin House is beautiful and the scenery is breathtaking. Loved sitting outdoors watching the bay. The house is very roomy and nicely decorated. We visited nearby Blue Hill for some shopping and to eat at two local restaurants. Watching the orange moon come up and "cue the coyotes!!" was quite an experience. We wished we'd had longer time to stay. Definitely check this out for your next Maine coast get away.

Coastal Maine gem

Puffin Rock checked all of our boxes for a fantastic 2-week family vacation with extended family and local relatives in nearby Brooklin. The kayaks and SUP’s, expansive beach access, fire pit, deck and overlook seating near the beach provided so many ways to enjoy the woods and coastline. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking in, and the house was roomy enough for everyone to feel comfortable. The proximity to Brooklin, with its nice market, a few good restaurants, a great library, the Wooden Boat School, and plenty of hiking trails just out of town meant there was something for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to another visit!!

Amazing stay!

My family and friends all enjoyed our stay at Puffin Rock! The house had ample space, was very clean with plenty of supplies, and the access to the water/beach was amazing! I walked the beach area all but one morning; it was so peaceful. Plenty of things were provided to occupy the kids when the weather was bad. It is a bit of a drive to Acadia, but not unbearable, and after the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor it was nice to come back to quiet. The pace of life felt so much slower in Maine, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Would come back in a heartbeat!

Great for a group

3 generations of our family had a great time at Puffin Rock. The setting is gorgeous and we utilized the waterfront every day. Waterfront access was great and having the kayaks, paddleboard and float was a great bonus. The house was very clean. Linens and towels were plentiful and good quality. Everything you could need was there. House is very spacious and well appointed. The seperate 2 bedrooms and bath were great for us. Enjoyed the deck, yard, firepit and beach.

Perfect Maine getaway

Lovely house with lots of room for large families to spread out in several rooms. Bunk beds and one queen room are in separate area of the house, which is nice for teenagers or an individual family. Ample water toys. Kayaks: 1 tandem, 2 single adult, and 2 single kid. Plus 2 paddle boards and a super fun floating raft like thing that the kids loved. We spent a lot of time on the deck, which was lovely. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for sharing your home!

Puffin Rock weekend

A reunion of former colleagues. We gathered as a group of 14 with 8 staying at Puffin and six at nearby lodge. Puffin was our “base camp” and was ideal. We had everything we needed for dinner of 14 persons, all necessary utensils and more. There was plenty of space for all to spread out and the location overlooking the water was amazing. Brooklin also is close to great but not crowded sites. Several very nice restaurants early but reservations needed. Other special amenities -wood burning stove -plenty of wood -modern and clean washer and dryer -outside seating in 3 levels: Deck, fire pit, water’s edge Also host made clean up and check out easy with clear instructions, well marked containers, brooms, dust bin and an amazing ash bucket for fire residue minimizing risks

Beautiful location!

Our family has a wonderful time at this home. It was extremely well equipped with kitchen supplies, things to use outdoors, and there was a lobster pot, which we were able to use and had an amazing lobster dinner! The location is perfect - private and right on the water. We were thoroughly entertained watching through our binoculars to spot the seal catching his dinner every day. The wildlife was beautiful to see - lots of birds, a bunny was seen grazing in the yard multiple times, and a doe and her two fawns passed right through the side yard! There was some trouble with the refrigerator and toaster oven, but Nichole was quick to respond and remedy the situation. We’re very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place!

Great home, great view!

We loved this property. It was large and spacious for our family of 10. Lots of room to spread out. The home was fully stocked with anything we needed! We loved using the kayaks, grill, and fire pit. Contact with the property management company was excellent, though we didn't require much because we had all the info we needed in the Welcome book in the home. The property was very clean. We saw lots.of deer, rabbits, and birds right from the house. I gave the online details section 4 stars because it shows the home as 7.4 miles from Acadia National Park. It was over 1 hour drive to the park, which was fine, but before our stay, I was under the impression we would be a lot closer. Thank you for a great stay!

Wonderful Time & Made Great Memories

Puffin Rock was a great place for my family & my sisters family to stay. There were nine of us who stayed there
.4 adults & then our children ranging from 19 years old to 15 years old. The four full baths were a blessing & the 5 bedrooms with comfortable beds was a bonus. There was plenty of towels, wash cloths, kitchen appliances & dishes. The view was breathtaking & the peacefulness around the house was exactly what we needed. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the canoe & kayaks & the adults enjoyed sitting around the camp fire. We would also go out at night & gaze at the millions of stars in the sky. We ventured into Acadia & Bar Harbor while we were there. It took us right at an hour to reach our destinations in Acadia, but we knew that going in so we weren’t surprised by it. Acadia has the most beautiful scenery around & everyone we met was super friendly. I encourage everyone to go there
 I would highly recommend this quaint place to anyone. We were not ready to leave.

Paradise

WOW. I feel so fortunate to have stayed at this gorgeous property on the Maine coast. My family and I were traveling from California, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. This location exceeded my expectations in every way. Such a fantastic location with the beach just steps away. At low tide, we walked for miles along the shore. The house is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for cooking, bathing, and enjoying the outdoors. We kayaked, built a fire in the outdoor fire pit, hung the hammocks in the hall closet, and enjoyed the property in every way. My mom, my sister, and I found ourselves up at dawn (5 am this time of year!) just we could soak up every moment (my husband and kids slept a little longer
) My daughters also enjoyed having their own private “wing” in the house. This home is very family friendly and had a number of amenities for children. We also enjoyed the local businesses in Brooklin- don’t miss the candy shop! Being from out of town, I wasn’t sure how remote this place would be. While it felt very private and “away from it all”, the grocery store and other necessities were an easy drive away. We also had cell phone reception, which was a pleasant surprise. One word of caution: the stairs are quite steep- watch your step!

great area for a family visit

Eight members of our family enjoyed our stay at beautiful Puffin Rock on the bay. Puffin Rock is quiet and peaceful with lots of space for us to spread out and do our own thing. The house was fine and well equipped. We rented two kayaks (not-sit-on-tops) and using these and the paddleboard took turns to explore the tiny islands and different parts of the bay. A playful seal was often behind us. Naskeag Point, the Wooden Boat School and Harriman Point are local places we especially liked. On a walk toward Naskeag Point, on the right-hand side of the road, there is a small hard-to-see entrance to several short trails through the woods. Lovely walk. At Harriman Point, we were surprised to see a porcupine and later learned there are many around Brooklin. There are many, many things to do outside of Brooklin. Some of us biked the Carriage Trail at Acadia. We went to Deer Isle and Stonington. We hiked the mossy wooded trail at Barred Island Preserve and spent some time in Northeast Harbor. On our last day, with the help of a local contact, we were able to get lobsters off the boat in Brooklin which was a fantastic ending to a wonderful week. My one suggestion is to put more information about the amenities on the website – that the coffee pot is Keurig, that there are beach towels, that there is propane gas and fire-starter. And, it would be helpful to know about the kayaks: what kind (sit on-tops only?) and how many kayaks are there.
