We enjoyed a quiet and fun-filled weekend at The Cottage, with great meals at Salt of the Earth and Bowdie's Chophouse, as well as winery visits, and picking apples and pumpkins!
We really enjoyed our time at this cozy house on Lake Hutchins. It's clean, it's comfortable, and the hot tub will give everyone something to do even if the weather doesn't go your way.
I will say, if you're bringing many kids, you might have to get creative with where you put them if you go to bed long after them. But otherwise I'd say the kids will love it too!
First words that come to mind when you first walk in to this delightful home is WOW. Definitely provides great views in a comfortable setting. You can tell that the owners take great pride in offering you a quality getaway experience.
There are several wineries within 3 miles of the property, which I would definitely encourage you to visit while staying here. Everything you need is there for a romantic getaway or a nice vacation with the family. Will definitely be putting this on the list of places to visit again.
We were looking for a great spot for a long fall break weekend, and we are so glad we found this one! Right upon entry we were impressed with the open floor plan and cleanliness. We enjoyed sunsets in the hot tub, and loved the view of the lake. We even spotted a Bald Eagle that flew over and perched nearby. The kitchen had everything we needed, we cooked most meals at the house. The owners were so helpful in recommending some sights. We enjoyed Mt. Baldhead park and the view, Oval beach, Saugatuck dunes state park, and strolling through shops in Saugatuck. Salt of the Earth restaurant close to the house in Fennville was amazing! Highly recommend. It was a great weekend to âget awayâ yet be near lots of fun!
We just returned from an extended weekend at The Cottage and we are already thinking about returning. We had five adults in our party and everyone was comfortable. We enjoyed the peaceful lake view and quiet neighborhood. We also took advantage of the nearby wineries, cider taproom, farm stands and fun towns. The Cottage has everything one needs for a great visit including an exceedingly well-stocked kitchen. Jeff answered our questions quickly and provided lots of helpful information and suggestions. Highly Recommend.
We very much enjoyed our time at the Cottage -- the location is perfect -- you are on a lovely little lake but also incredibly close to the Lake Michigan coast and both Saugatuck and South Haven -- the best of all worlds!
The home itself was very comfortable for our family for four. It was the off season so we can't speak to the lake itself, but we had fun in the hottub and out on the deck. It looked like there might not be a fire pit -- not an issue for our family since we were there in early April, but worth noting.
One head's up -- we got a long list of house essentials we were expected to provide ourselves that was much more extensive than any other rental we have stayed in (for example, toilet paper and hand soap). We packed up everything on the list which was a bit of a production, and then nearly everything on the list was actually stocked in the house.
Jeff and Becky were great with communication and provided wonderful suggestions on things to do/see in the area and places to get food.
We would absolutely love to come back!
The lake house was perfect for our girlsâ weekend! We had such a fun, relaxing time enjoying the water views, exploring local wineries and playing games by the fireplace. The house was impeccable and had everything we needed. We would absolutely recommend it!
Our family had a great time at this house on the lake. Since this was an off season visit, it was very quiet. Our kids loved playing in the snow and on the frozen lake. We had reason to avail ourselves of local emergency services during our stay. The people of this area were kind, funny and accommodating. The house has everything you would need to cook for a family. We found the place to be comfortable and cozy.
Beautiful house right on the lake! The hot tub was overlooking the lake, and great even in the snow. The property was clean and just as pictured.
We will absolutely come back!
After being at home in Chicagoland for 4 months we were thrilled to return to Jeff and Beckyâs clean and homey cottage on beautiful Hutchins Lake for our family vacation . We fished, skied, relaxed on the fantastic dock, and enjoyed perfect weather! Thank you again for another great week!
My wife and I rented the cottage for a quick Fall Weekend Away and we absolutely loved this property! It was clean, setup was perfect and right on the lake. Communication and dealing with the owners was great and I would highly recommend this property if you are looking in the area!
Everything was perfect. Beautiful property and great location. The description for the beds and location of beds wasn't accurate but everyone was able to sleep comfortably. It just looks like some rearranging was done! Highly recommend for a family or small group.
Myself and four girlfriends drove up to Fennville for the weekend to celebrate my 30th Birthday and it surpassed all my expectations. The photos of this hidden gem does not do it justice. From the moment we arrived at the cottage we were taken away by the beautiful scenery. The home was absolutely charming and itâs open concept, view of the lake, cleanliness, deck and grill...all perfection. We spent an entire day at the Fennville Winery (highly suggest!) and had dinner at Salt of the Earth (suggested by Jeff and Becky) which was amazing! We even met some of the neighbors who were so nice! The weekend was absolute perfection! The only negative thing was that we struggled getting the tv/dvd player turned on...so we played charades instead :) I would definitely come back again and suggest this home to anyone (I already have to many at work!) itâs the perfect weekend getaway. Thank you again to Jeff and Becky they were amazing in answering all questions and provided me with a detailed emailed in preparation for our arrival.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Cottage at Hutchins Lake. It was perfect for our mother-daughter weekend getaway. The kitchen was well stocked, comfortable sleeping arrangements and the couches were cozy and accommodating for our party of 7. We enjoyed soaking up the sun on the dock and relaxing in the hot tub in the evening. Proximity to Saugatuk, Douglas and Fennville was prime. We would book this home again!
Owners seemed great, very friendly, sent a lot of info ahead and helped with area recommendations. House was very clean and furniture/beds very comfortable. We were disappointed that the hot tub wasnât working well, because we only looked at places with hot tubs as this was important to us and were willing to pay more to have one. Jets were so weak that didnât produce bubbles at surface, and then would short out, requiring reset.) The other thing is that at night the living room lighting was so dark and cool that it wasnât very homey and definitely not bright enough for games/reading. Kayak was great - 2 paddles would be nice. Not really a swimming lake because shallow pretty far out and ski boats coming pretty far in. Lawn area near lake very lovely landscaping, made for a nice place to spend some time in the sun. Kitchen well stocked. House needs some maintenance. Excellent dinner recommendation at Salt of the Earth! Overall, we enjoyed the weekend.
Everything about this holiday worked - Jeff is super attentive the property was very clean and well appointed in a great location with a super view and dock on a magical lake - We had a super holiday Thank you!
This was our fourth summer at this property and we just love it. My husband usually fishes for Muskie but he and my son made due during our 7 day stay by catching around 70 small mouth, large mouth, cropped and northern pike! The cottage was clean and comfortable with soft new carpet and comfy furniture. The large dock is fantastic and family and friends gathered there every day to swim and float in crystal clear Hutchins Lake. Jeff and Becky are friendly and helpful! Thanks to them for another relaxing and restful week. We are already booked for 2020!!

This was our second time staying at The Cottage and just as the first time we were definitely not disappointed. Very clean, perfect lake house for us and our 5 kids (13, 10, 6, 4, 2). Jeff and Becky were perfect hosts making sure we had everything we needed. New dock was a huge hit with the kids, so easy to get in/out of the lake and perfect for fishing with all kids at the same time. Very close to local amenities and Holland is only 15/20 minutes away. Wouldnât consider another house on Hutchins Lake...period!
Our family has been vacationing on Hutchins Lake for over 30 years and it holds a special place in our hearts. It's the perfect place to relax, connect with friends and family, and make special memories. We know you will love "The Cottage" and look forward to your stay!
"The Cottage" is on the best part of the 375 acre lake. Nestled in a large cove, you get to enjoy calm waters, great fishing, and a superior view of the lake. Our home also backs up to Crane's Orchard which provides a great view of the fruit trees, giant corn maze and a short walk to sample some of their world famous fruit pies. On the other side of the lake is the Fenn Valley Vineyard and Winery which was one of the original Southwest Michigan Wineries. Great place to sample a variety of wines and take your favorite bottle home to enjoy lakeside.
We want your time at "The Cottage" to be a memorable one where you can relax and reconnect. Recently we've added a HOT TUB to the outdoor deck for the ultimate in relaxation. The property was remodeled in 2014 and includes granite countertops, fully renovated bathrooms, and a three season porch. We've provided all the ammenities you will need for your stay such as all kitchen item, bedding, towels, and WIFI internet access. To enjoy and explore the lake please enjoy the free 2 man kayak and four person paddleboat.
