We were in Longview for a family gathering. This house was a great space - upstairs and down - beds for everyone (had 9 adults, 2 kids). We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the evening but when we came in for dinner and/or just hanging out talking, there wasnât enough seating for a large group. That would be the only negative.
We needed a large place to stay in order for our family to be together for my motherâs funeral. The house and condo were exactly as listed and pictured. At one time, we had 3 adults downstairs and 5 adults upstairs. We did most of our cooking and eating upstairs, so I hope we didnât mix up the cookware too much!
It was very comfortable for all - enough room to gather, or be separated. And the deer! We had a mother deer and her two youngsters visit every day, and even caught a glimpse of the buck. The setting is beautiful - we sat a lot on the porches and enjoyed the ambiance. We took a couple of walks around the neighborhood, too.
The location was near where we needed to be (but Longview isnât that big anyway). All in all, even though the occasion was not the happiest, the house was wonderful for us to gather as a family that doesnât see each other often.
We were supposed to stay in this property (2 adults, 6 kids).
We usually receive check-in information from owners days before arrival but this owner did not send them. We were at the airport with our kids and still no instructions! We knew we would be arriving late and there were no other places available to stay in the area, so we called VRBO. They said they would reach out to the owner and call us right back.
An hour later, we were to the point when we would be out of reception. We had heard of travelers being booked to a fake listing or a listing with no one responding, so we booked a different property, lest we find ourselves stranded with tired, cranky kids. The owners at the new property responded quickly.
THREE HOURS LATER we heard from the owner and then VRBO called. I told them we had already booked another place because of the no response from the owner for so long!! The owner even admitted that we would have received instructions but they had no idea why âthe systemâ hadn't done so.
We were told we were past the refund date! I told them they had gone past the check-in notification times and we could not be expected to âhopeâ we had a place to stay. VERY UNETHICAL on the part of this owner and VRBO. We are taking this up with VRBO and our credit card company.
