We picked up our rental car at the airport and headed south along Route 307 towards Akumal. When we arrived at the entrance for the Bahia Principe Resort, we knew this place was going to be something special, just by the looks of the impressive entrance. After passing through the entry gate, it was just a very short drive through a beautiful manicured park like scene to the condo. This is a four-plex unit and the property is on the ground floor. After obtaining the key from the lock-box by the front door, we opened the it with great anticipation and were greeted first off by the sound of pleasing music emanating from within.
Our eyes were immediately drawn to the polished marble flooring and a sliding glass door leading to the rear patio. Glass so clean, my wife at first thought it had been left open, revealing a private outdoor seating area. As we toured the condo, we were impressed over and over again.
The bedroom is spacious, with plenty of room for clothing and personal effects. A comfortable king size bed takes center stage and provides a great place to rest after enjoying the day. It is directly connected to the modern and efficient bathroom, with great use of glass, porcelain, and marble in the decor.
The kitchen is so fully stocked for preparing meals, that you will struggle to find anything that is missing. Appliances include microwave, blender, coffee maker, toaster oven, and more. We went to the grocery store and fully stocked up with everything we wanted, knowing we had all we needed to prepare great meals.
The living room TV is modern with satellite, but the number of English channels is limited. There is also a TV in the bedroom, but it is not connected to anything. There is an HDMI cable though, so it could be used for connection to computer or other streaming devices, I suppose. The WiFi and internet is great.
There is a full size washer/dry setup for laundry, and it works very good. Gas water heat and kitchen stove is also very nice. The patio is great for relaxing and we enjoyed using the tub in the evening. The owner's local rep came by to check on us, and make sure we were happy. He was very polite and not at all intrusive.
During the evening there are shows at the resort hotel with live music. The gift shops are very good and the prices are very competitive with local shops in Tulum.
The resort is so nice, I feel like we barely scratched the surface. This would easily be a place we would visit again.
