Rustic cabin, nestled in the trees, under a mile to Mt. Rainier entrance.
Rustic, and unique 1 bedroom 1 bathroom cabin in a tree covered property along the Tenas Creek. Less than a mile to the only entrance that's open year-round of Mt Rainier NP. Park entry lines in the summer can get long, and your location gets you closer to the front. Spend your days exploring all that Rainier has to offer. Evenings can be enjoyed relaxing around the fire pit, or in the gazebo with the grill. A second cabin is located on the property and can be rented, if available, and more space is needed.
The cabin is less than a mile to the entry gate of Mt Rainier. The Park service has started requiring timed entry permits for entering the park from May 24th through September 2nd in 2024. You can get your permits on the Recreation dot gov website. Make sure you get your ticket for the Paradise corridor. If you don't get your permit, you can still enter the park before 7am, or after 3pm.
Ashford is a rural and remote community. The power grid and wi-fi can be affected by stormy weather conditions (especially in the winter). If the power and wifi go down, we encourage everyone to enjoy the disconnect time with family and friends and take advantage of the slow down. we have a wood burning fireplace for heat and propane stove to cook on. We have lanterns and flashlights for a little light to play some board games.
Ashford can be snowy and icy at times and chains are required in your car when driving to paradise in the winter. Check with the National Park for conditions in the winter.
Property is located as close to the Paradise Entrance as possible without staying in the park itself. The house was very clean and tidy with decor reminiscent of a mountain cabin. I have never been at a lodging where drinking water was provided daily for the guests, which was a huge bonus. The property owners were prompt with communication and provided great food recommendations. The Mill Haus Cider co was delicious with a cute atmosphere. We had an amazing time.
I have to admit that we were most nervous about this property given the size of our family. With all five members of our family being tall, we were nervous this cabin would feel cramped. To the contrary, we were thrilled with the cabin! Our adult kids delighted in the woodsy feel and were excited the moment we pulled into the driveway. The outdoor firepit was a nice touch and we enjoyed using it. The place was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed out stay. I would highly recommend this cabin for your trip to visit the park. Being so close to the entrance was a major plus. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
We thought it was perfect. There are 2 futon couches in the living room big enough for 2each, but we only used 1. There was popcorn and waffle mix ready to go in a well-equipped kitchen + some basics like oil/seasonings. There were games and a nice fire pit outside with wood. Really everything needed to enjoy a mountain/woodlands getaway.
We got off the mountain at 7:30 and by the time dinner was done, we ran out of energy to enjoy the place. We would have all enjoyed another night.
Welcome to our little piece of Paradise. We have always enjoyed the mountains, especially Rainier. From sunset and sunrise summer hikes, to snowshoeing and snowboarding in the backcountry. We live just an hour from Mowich Lake, a personal favorite spot of Rainier. You can't go wrong going in any entrance to Rainier, and where ever you decide to explore feel free to reach out during your stay with questions or recommendations.
The Cabins have a special rustic charm to us. We have a year-round creek flowing through the property. Most importantly we sit less than 1 mile to the Longmire/Paradise entrance into MRNP.
