Our family of 3 had a great long weekend at the cabin. The pool table was a plus when it was raining. Julie was a great host and an excellent communicator. House is very close to Woodstock and Kingston and just over the bridge from Rhinebeck. It was the perfect hub for our getaway.
We really enjoyed the house and everything it had to offer! The pool table was fun entertainment and the couches and beds were very comfortable! Close to good restaurants and shopping! Great hiking and skiing options.
Modern open space log cabin. Very spacious and accommodating. Host was very attentive. Great view from large deck very nice pool table and bar area. Would highly recommend.
This was my family's second time staying in this house, so obviously, we liked it the first time. And we were quite happy this second time, too. The space is very pleasant and relaxing; there's a well-equipped kitchen, too. Definitely recommended.
This house was a very pleasant place to relax for a few days. I especially enjoyed the (gas) fireplace in the high-ceilinged main room.
Everything worked the way it was supposed to and was in good shape -- we had no problems to speak of -- and the owner was great to communicate with. We'd certainly go back.
The Log Home was very cozy and comfortable. We stayed during Winter and the fireplace warmed the main floor nicely and was wonderful to sit by. The host, Julie, was very nice and provided helpful tips on where to hike and eat in the area. Although there are other homes nearby, this home is set back on the property so you never really notice anyone nearby. Would stay here again!
Les points faibles : Communication, emplacement, exactitude de lâannonce
Disappointing for the Money.
We feel compelled to describe some of the things that are not in the property description that we wish we had known before we agreed to rent for an extended stay.
* The pictures show a 3 story house, however the entire third floor, a spacious master suite was not available. Rather, it was closed, locked, and electronically monitored by the owners. Had we known the entire house wasn't available we would have chosen a different property. The rented space consists of only two of the floors. The main floor is where the two rather small guest bedrooms and one shared small bathroom are located. The basement is a large open area with the tv and pool table. Also, the house is located in a neighborhood on the edge of Kingston. There are neighbors on both sides and across the street, so it isn't really a "cabin in the woods", although the backyard is spacious and private and heavily wooded.
* The water in the house has a distinct and strong sulphuric smell and taste so we suggest you come prepared to buy bottled water to drink. This water has also stained all the toilet bowls.
* There are no window coverings in the bedrooms so we suggest you bring eye masks if you want to sleep in.
*there is not really any storage / bureaus for clothing in the two bedrooms - plan on living out of a suitcase. There was plenty of room in the closets for hanging clothing.
* There are also several things in need of repair that have clearly not gotten attention such as:
- air conditioner that cools the main living area didn't function properly and was leaking consistently so we finally just turned it off and got along without A/C in the common rooms.
- lights in the kitchen are not functioning making it more difficult to cook
- pool table is lovely but there are no adult-sized pool cues
- railing on front stairs has rotted and is unsafe to bear any weight.
- there are several electrical outlets that do not work causing some challenges for remote workers.
In fairness, we reached out to owners to let them know these things but our email went unanswered.
We needed a week away and this is a beautiful secluded house with a well stocked kitchen and comfy beds and a clean warm inviting feel. We hiked, played lots of pool, cooked, and walked around Woodstock and hiked some more. Owner was very available for questions and I wouldnât hesitate to return. My teens both loved it!
Our family of 3 enjoyed a week at Julie's home. The log cabin setting was cozy and comforting- the pictures do not tell the story! The property is surrounded by woods and it is quiet and tranquil. Yet, you can drive to Woodstock or Kingston in 10-20 minutes for a change of pace. Julie was available to us for any questions and also offered ideas on things to do in the area. Due to COVID, we mostly stayed in an enjoyed the home, played board games and took in the natural surroundings. The TV/Pool Table area are also a nice balance for entertainment and competition. The kitchen is well stocked and easy to cook meals at home. We would come back!
Great location close to Kingston and Catskills sights
The log cabin style house was excellent and exactly as advertised. We loved the East access to the Catskills and ski areas while still being close to the towns of Woodstock and Kingston. The owners were very responsive and helpful.
This was a perfect place for 4 people trying to get out of the city and enjoy some nature! We had rented the house for the whole week during Thanksgiving and it was everything we needed! The house is fully equipped for cooking, it truly is a chef's kitchen. The upstairs is cozy and perfect for nice diners and cocktails. The downstairs was perfect for games, the pool table was a hit! We had camp fires outside every night, the backyard was picture perfect! Overall, we hope to rent this place again as it was the exact city escape vibe that we wanted!
Wonderful cabin with great upgrades, a well-stocked kitchen, and comfy furniture with a seat for everyone. A large porch with comfortable furniture made for lazy mornings to ease into the day. Just far enough from things to feel secluded, yet a quick drive to local towns. Really enjoyed our time here!
