When designing a cabin - a building that over time many people will call home, Lydia has hundreds of decisions that need to be made. Some are easy, and some are a bit more complex and challenging. Often times the biggest challenge can be deciding what natural landmarks on a given property should be preserved and what should be removed. In some of these landmarks, we can't help but to see ourselves. Moving and changing in time. Bending, but never breaking. There was no better example of this than the resilient oak that stands behind the cabin that was named in its honor. So come to the Crooked Oak and relax. While you take it easy, it will take on your load. Swaying in the breeze. One day at a time.
We loved the layout of the cabin, plenty of space! The porch with the rocking chairs overlooking the mountains was amazing and we loved making sâmores at the fire pit and spending time in the hot tub. Enjoyed some local hiking and a nearby vineyard. The whole family had a great vacation!
A delightful place to stay! It had plenty of space for our family with a big basement for the kids. One of the bedrooms was in a loft so we put our heavy sleeper there. Great time playing disc golf with goals right across the street from the cabin.
Beautiful location and view. Very nice cabin. Only issues were no instructions to operate the tv/dish and I paid for a bundle of firewood which I never received.
We had a generally nice stay at the crooked oak for three nights. Weâve stayed at this cabin in the past as a family and it is a good size space. We like that we can bring our pets and the kitchen is well appointed. Grandparents, parents and kids always enjoy the break at Lydia mountain.
Some things that dampened our stay:
- When we arrived and opened the door, there was a creepy doll placed on a chair in front of the front door. Probably intended to be a joke but unfortunately left our twin kids nervous for the first night which was too bad.
- Having stayed there before and booking the cabin back in July, we were most disappointed that the hot tub did not function which is usually a highlight of our stay. We called and emailed to notify the staff to try to fix it; they left a voicemail two days later but did not responded to my follow up text or call and did not repair the hot tub.
- The tv remote needs new batteries and there were not enough pillow cases for the pillows.
We probably will come back again but next time Iâll be more careful to call in advance to ensure the hot tub is working.
We had a nice time but emailed about my wifeâs shirts being left in upstairs closet on Sunday the 17th and still have not heard anything back except that you would mail them back for 25.00 Would be nice to know if and when this will happen
