Summary: The Alpine Lake House is a 4 bedroom cottage nestled in the heart of Muskoka Lake on Acton Island (road accessible) and boasts a charming interior reminiscent of vintage chalets of the French Alps, exuding warmth and comfort. Its cozy ambiance invites relaxation and embraces guests in a serene mountain-retreat-like atmosphere right here in Muskoka.
The Space: The Alpine Lake House boasts ample space for a large family or 2. The main cottage features four cozy bedrooms, providing comfortable accommodation for up to eight guests. Unwind in the inviting living area with the wood stove roaring or challenge friends and family to a friendly game of ping pong in the walkout basement living area. Whether you're lounging indoors or enjoying the outdoor amenities, the Alpine Lake House provides the perfect setting for a memorable Muskoka getaway.
Down at the water, you'll find the dock to swim off of or park your boat. We provide a canoe, kids kayak and a paddle boat to explore Lake Muskoka. We also have a propane fire table on the back deck and a fire pit at the side of the cottage (although not shovelled in the winter).
We have a new electric hot tub on the back deck of the house that overlooks the lake. It is accessible year round.
We live in a beautiful, peaceful area of Muskoka and respect our neighbour's quiet hours between 10pm and 8am. There is no tolerance for parties.
Please note that we don't allow any jetskis at the property.
The Neighborhood: Acton Island is right next to Bala and is accessible by car year round.
Other Things to Note: Please note that we have an exterior camera and noise monitors (they don't record any conversation, just decibel levels).
We stayed 9 days at the end of August. There were 3 of us, so plenty of space (it could sleep max 10 but would be pretty crowded with that many). The property is on an island (with a short bridge to the mainland). The cottage itself is on a quiet little bay with a view west for lovely sunsets, to be enjoyed sitting at the fire table on one of the three levels of deck. Beds are comfy and everything you could need for a cottage holiday is provided. A nice functional kitchen, too, and a big BBQ on the deck off the main floor (the top floor which also contains a bathroom with shower and 2 bedrooms). The bottom floor contains 2 more bedrooms and another bathroom plus washer and dryer. There is even a bunkie with two separate beds. Unusual in cottage country, there is central A/C, a real plus. We loved the hot tub after a swim from the dock in the cool water. Communication with the owner was excellent--even sent someone over to adjust the fire table. Lots to do in the region, including short hikes. The nearby town of Bala (15 min or so) has a good grocery store and a terrific bakery (Don's), as well as a few restaurants, and the town of Port Carling is maybe 20 minutes in the other direction with more restaurants and shops. Highly recommended; we'd be delighted to return!
The cottage was a bit smaller than the pictures depicted. However, it was quaint and overlooked a small bay of Muskoka Lake. Lovely! Great sitting out on the deck. Hot tub was a nice feature.
The owner was extremely helpful and accessible during our stay! We booked this location last minute after another place got canceled, and we were very thankful for the host's availability and flexibility. Would definitely stay again; thanks for the great experience!
The property is beautifully nestled on the lake, very cute, clean, and the beds are very comfortable. We all had a blast in the hot tub and the kids had fun playing ping pong and other board games that were there. It was perfect for a March break getaway and we hope to come back during the summer.
