Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Lloyd-Howe House aka “Anchors Aweigh” is a beautiful and spacious 8BR/6.5BA home and the perfect getaway for golf groups, family gatherings, retreats, wedding parties and those simply seeking R&R. Generous common areas with upgraded furnishings include large living and dining rooms with exposed beams, a dedicated pool room and an updated, fully furnished kitchen with all amenities. An outdoor swimming pool (70,000 gallons!) and heated spa with large stone patios enhance the fully fenced and gated private grounds.

The estate is located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to the center of Pinehurst Village center by car or walking path (1.5 mi). Spend fun-filled days playing golf, exploring local shops, eateries, breweries and galleries or simply relax by the pool. A perfect home for a delightful Pinehurst Vacation.

Wonderful place for a golf outing with 8 guys in the Pinehurst area

We were looking for the perfect place for 8 guys to stay for our annual golf trip and this place was it. Everyone had their own bedroom, there were 4 large common rooms where we could hang out in the evenings, one with a pool table, two with large screen TVs. The hot tub was a wonderful feature after playing 36 holes of golf on consecutive days. Highly recommend the Pinehurst Track Restaurant for breakfast - it’s open early and just 5 minutes away!!!

Perfect Home

Perfect home for our family. Well equipped with anything you might need. The house is spread out. Kids could be sleeping at one end of the house and not hear us at the other end playing cards. Wonderful outdoor/ backyard area with a large pool.

Perfect house for a golf trip

This historic home has been maintained and updated to provide everything that you need for a vacation getaway. The home is very spacious and provides privacy and quiet areas as well as multiple common areas for group interaction. Everything was extremely clean and well stocked with basic items that you need. The pool and hot tub are the amenities that made this house perfect for our golf trip. They both were clean and well maintained and larger than any property we have previously rented. It’s a great place to relax after a long day of golf. The location is close to many great restaurants and golf courses, some of them within walking distance. The host was very responsive to our questions and quickly resolved a minor issue. We highly recommend this property and plan to stay here again on our next trip.

Perfect home for golf trip

It is not a house, but a compound! Great house for a golf group. Bring your walking shoes because the house goes on forever! PM was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Pool, hot pub, and billiards were an extra bonus. Would book again!

This was a great house, convenient yet quiet location, historic feel but modern amenities, goes on forever twists and turns which adds to the privacy for each even with a large group. Kitchen well equipped although could use some more steak knives (although we might not have found them perhaps). Classy comfortable.

Fantastic!

This property is absolutely amazing, very private and peaceful. The house is beautiful and well appointed; beds are comfortable; bathrooms are clean; pool table is fun. Pool and jacuzzi are huge and very nice, even pool toys in the basement. Do expect some small spiders as this is an old home but nothing to worry about.

Family Reunion

We gathered to celebrate my father’s 100th birthday in the Pinehurst area! My father has lived here and been a member of the Pinehurst Club since 1980. It was an amazing weekend of time spent together, as my immediate family had not been able to unite, completely, in 5 years! The house was perfect for my family! Plenty of space, very nice accommodations, beautiful pool and surroundings! A very lovely estate. I will definitely rent it again in the future!

July 2023 Stay

13 members (7 adults, 6 children) of our family came for a family reunion and had an amazing time! As Michiganderins we loved the wildlife like the deer in the front yard, and deal with snakes (nonpoisionous) but actually met a Copperhead snake near the hot tub which provided us with an educational experience and memory to share. Loved the historical feel and tons of space for our family. Very inviting, comfortable, and spacious. Highly recommend this lovely home.

Pinehurst home

Overall we enjoyed the property very much...very expansive home with an old-south feel. Perfect layout for 8 golf guys...kitchen was great to cook in...the house offers plenty of room to spread out. Only disappointments were the pool and hot tub were not cleaned and usable until our next to last day and we still could not figure out how to use the hot tub. The gas grill was unusable due to rusted out grates...the poker table in the listing was nowhere to be found. But the house is in a beautiful part of Pinehurst and close to all amenities needed.

Perfect property for our college girls reunion and 40th birthday!

We loved this unique house and it was perfect for our group of college friends who all needed some R&R while taking a short vacation away from our small children. The house would be amazing for families as well but it was great for our group because everyone had their own room and could spread out. Plenty of bathrooms as well! We usually go out to eat frequently on this annual trip but decided to stay and cook most of the weekend because it was so comfortable!

Great weekend in Pinehurst

This was a great place for my group of girlfriends to gather in a cute town for the weekend, though the decorations seem to be targeted toward men. The house has two wings pretty far apart, so there can be lots of privacy if desired. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The hot tub and pool are bigger than they seem in the pictures, and both can be heated. The neighborhood is cute to walk in, and the location is ideal for proximity to great local food and the downtown.

Spacious accommodations with pool and hot tub. Great place to getaway for some rest and relaxation.

Great historic home that has been recently renovated while still maintaining the details right down to the door hardware. The management company were very responsive and took care of our needs. The kitchen is well appointed with up to date appliances and there is a good set of kitchen tools, pots, pans including a Keurig coffee brewer. There is no shortage of bedrooms and would be a great place if you wanted to organize a quiet side and active side of the house that may be a bit more noisy. Wi-Fi is solid. Washer and dryer off the kitchen was handy. The property is spacious and the house sits near the end of a quiet neighborhood. The property is gated and fenced. The pool and hot tub were great to have. The pool is much larger than the photos show. We throughly enjoyed swimming everyday. It was very clean despite what some of the older reviews may have mentioned. The hot tub was pleasant as well and you can adjust the temp accordingly. Pool towels provided by the management company. The pool room was great for gathering after dinner for a few rounds of cut throat and 9 ball. There is a basketball hoop in the driveway near the garage (out building). Garage is locked and not for use. Easy access to the village by car or bike trail. Harris Teeter and Lowes grocery stores are very close. Would recommend this house for family event. Take time to appreciate this home and the details within! Slainte Mhath!
