Cozy getaway. Peaceful. 5 min to Historic Harmony. Fireplace. Pet friendly.
A retreat for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Seventies, this accessible getaway is just over a mile from I-79. You can drive into Pittsburgh in less than 30 minutes. A new listing that we're still polishing, enjoy a good night's sleep with few distractions. Stars and birds are plentiful. With the Connoquenessing Creek and the railroad tracks outback, the sounds are as romantic as the vintage 1920 Pittsburgh clawfoot tub, and the gas log fireplace. A three-minute drive will put you in Historic Harmony and on top of the George Washington Trail. The Harmony Inn, the Union Brothers Brewing and the Wunderbar Coffee & Crepes Cafe are great local haunts (the Inn is actually haunted). Zelienople is right down the road. Norman Rockwell couldn't have created a better postcard. Walk down main street and into a mom-and-pop shop. With Slippery Rock, McConnell's Mills and Moraine State Park, nearby as well, we are sure the area and our fireplace will warm your heart. đ
This little bungalow was exactly what we needed for our stay in Harmony. The beds were fantastic and the pillows comfortable. It was so nice to take my coffee out by the creek in the morning. I would absolutely rent this place as again.
Property is located in a little tricky auto approach. Definitely not handicap accessible. Furniture is garage sale quality. No tv or appliance instructions. Outside amenities are non usable. Driveway is rough gravel. Not worth the current price. While adequate, we wouldn't stay there again.
Property was as advertised. Charming, quaint, lots of character! The outdoor space was perfect for us. We even used the grill on Mother's Day! The bed was amazingly comfy. Decorated with some of the owners' photography - we found very interesting. Pocket doors! Stenciling on the kitchen & dining room floors was charming. We were comfy & enjoyed our stay. Screened porch was great as well, some screens were torn but not a big deal. Bunnies in the yard & bamboo too. Creekside cottage was perfect for us!!
This was a cute cottage overall and our family enjoyed the stay. Great location in that it is only a short drive into Pittsburgh, but also close to nature and small towns. A couple things to note: 1) The house is on a busy road (surprisingly), and we could hear semi trucks passing throughout the night. It wasn't as loud as if we had stayed in the city, but we definitely weren't expecting that noise level. 2) Pet owners should be aware that the screens are broken in many of the windows (some less obvious than others). It is very possible for a small pet (ours included) to escape out an open window (thankfully ours returned!). 3) Some notes for the host: The oven and fridge could use a nice deep clean. Also, it could have just been user error, but we could not figure out how to get the bath tub stopper to work. This made bathing our small kids a bit of a challenge.
Beautiful cottage right on the creek near Zelienople and Harmony. Perfect for a little retreat with a nice fire pit and water access. Would absolutely recommend this place for a weekend, or even week long escape.
We got married in Harmony but live over an hour away so we wanted to stay close for the weekend. This cottage was 4 minutes from our reception barn and the owner was very very helpful. Responds quick to messages.
The property was perfect for what I was looking for so I could travel with my dog. There was a park across the street to walk him to get away from traffic.
The location was minutes away from I79 which took us directly to our family event. It was convenient, clean and we will stay again in July for a family reunion.
It was winter so we stayed indoors. The house was warm and cozy for Grandma and Grandpa and our daughter's family of four to visit in. The neighborhood is very quiet, there is a river behind the backyard, and the towns of Harmony and Zelienople are just a few minutes away. We enjoyed our stay and this house is now on our list of preferred places.
The location is awesome for an outdoorsy, adventurous group, family or couple! We were not able to experience the great outdoors but sure were inspired by nature around the cottage. I saw a cardinal up close from the porch and enjoyed the bullfrog songs at night. Forever memories were had by all! Thank you!
We booked a last mnute getaway. Key feature we sought was a hot/spa which was listed as an amenity. There was no hot tub. Not only that but the tub would not hold water and the shower did not work. It was nice sitting by the creek and would have been nicer had there been chairs. We did not bring any and had to buy some. The bed was great if you like a really soft mattress. Creek access was better at the park across the street. The grill was not useable. Overall would not book again but would look for another property nearby as the area was nice. Pictures are available upon request.
This property is always clean and comfortable. I have stayed here twice now and will not hesitate to stay again. The property is right across the street from a park that is perfect for walking a dog.
I also love the private setting and outdoor fire pit for relaxing evenings.
Also this rural setting is perfect for a quick trip to Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.
I was born up the road in Mars, PA, went to elementary school in Bradford Woods, and graduated high school at nearby Seneca Valley. I was a local painter for about 8 years, among other jobs, and now reside in South Florida as a supervisor of Ocean Rescue. I love spending time at the cottage and revisit the area routinely to make improvements. Suggestions are welcome.
A country cottage on the creek with a fireplace and a back porch to lounge on. Birds, deer, squirrels and rabbits, an occasional wild turkey call, a woodpecker or an owl's hoot, there's plenty going on around outside. The closest neighbor lives a few hundred yards away. A five-minute drive gets you to whatever you need. The kitchen is ready for a home cooked meal, or you can dine out locally. Union Brothers Brewing and the Harmony Inn are just a mile and a half away.
The cottage's secluded location and natural charm create a peaceful setting that's unique. Surrounded by vegetation and stars overhead, we love to sit by the fire whether its inside or out. The sounds of the train and birds are romantic and soothing. Fishing and golf are great escapes with the trout stocked Connoquenessing Creek out back and Hartner's Golf Course just across the street.
