Nice size back porch for hanging out, but if I had to pick one negative thing, it's the "outstanding ocean views". There really aren't any views unless you look from the far corners. The gigantic sand dune takes all the views away. But overall a good place for a small family.

As part of a huge overhaul to save the homes on the beach the town created big huge dunes all along the beach in front of every house. And the only beach left was a quarter of what it used to be. The house itself was fine, as it is every year.

Has pretty much everything

We’ve stayed in several beach houses along the NC coast and this one was one of our favorites. Beautiful beach front view, well stocked kitchen and plenty of seating and beds. The outside shower with warm water was a glorious decadence and the on site washer dryer were clutch as well. The house sits right next to a public access which meant a little less privacy than some of the other homes on the strip but it also meant the life guard station was close which we really appreciated with our young kids. It was our first time to kill devil beach and found lots to love. Beach was beautiful and clean. Not really any shells worth picking up, but we saw dolphins almost every day and hunted ghost crabs every night - one of my kids’ favorite beach activities. Would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks for sharing your awesome coastal retreat!

Location fantastic; description not up-to-date. The sand dunes block the view of the ocean and make access to the beach more difficult than described. House cleaners take everything they can (toilet paper, food staples (ketchup, mustard, spices), soaps. Blankets dirty, piled in closets unfolded. Ice maker barely working, making about a dozen ice cubes daily. Response to calls for service took 3 days to acknowledge. Other than that. . . .

We were looking for a property late in the season so used VRBO. The only good part was the house, it’s beautiful and a perfect location! Whomever owns it should definitely move realtors. Booked through VRBO, sent messages asking questions through VRBO (the host) to finally call and realize they were going to cancel my res. This place has no business on VRBO if they don’t answer.Moving on, non of the overhead fans worked correctly. All of the TVs were unplugged on arrival. I was told not to go to the property early but they would call if it was ready, that was a lie. I never went to the property but I arrived at 9 AM with my chihuahua and patiently waited, and drove all day back and forth up the beach road. There was never a single car there. Meaning this company also lies about letting someone know if their place is ready early. Finally, they call us the Monday we return home. We missed it but were excited to hear they were looking into all of the broken fixtures in the house that we called about so that the next family didn’t have to deal with such a disappointing experience. But no, this unhinged crazy woman from Carolina shores left a message about us maybe having a hamster…if you could see the mouth drop on my family when we heard that message. They have major appliances that don’t work and they are calling asking us if we have a hamster??? We paid the fee for the two dogs we brought. We called about the broken fans. This company is the last place to trust for rentals

Nice little beach cottage

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The description and photos were an accurate account of the house. Definitely dated, a few changes could really 'cute' the place up a bit but otherwise it was comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. Be careful with the kitchen drawers, as it would be easy to pull them all the way out. The blender was broken and the dishwasher is on the wrong side of the counters (see photos) but otherwise the kitchen was serviceable. The cottage is located right next to the public right of way so it does get a bit busy on that part of the beach but it was tolerable. The life guards chair is stationed here as well which I always find comforting! The covered porch facing the beach was one of the best parts of the house. We spent many hours looking at the sea, watching a fabulous storm and enjoying the outside. The queen size bed was very comfortable with nice pillows. The most important factor of this house was it's proximity to the beach so we were happy. We could easily go back and forth to the house for a break or lunch etc which is what makes the whole experience so much more relaxing. Dogs are allowed, so I would say the house was clean when we arrived although the previous white, fluffy, fido hair balls were blown from under furniture etc by the AC! Again, not a big deal, as you are sweeping up the sand that always manages to sneak in anyway. There's a hose pipe near the front porch to easily wash the sand off as you come off the beach and an outdoor shower which makes it very handy to get the whole family clean without much waiting (given that there are two bathrooms inside as well). The experience is exactly what we expected with location being the key. Thanks for a great holiday!

Relaxing Week

As I mentioned before, the living room furniture is outdated and not very comfortable. If replaced, this cottage would be exceptional! Did notice that the toilet had been replaced in the master bathroom. What a difference that made. Overall, this cottage has not disappointed me, and I would rent again.

The furnishings were a bit rundown, online pictures give an inaccurate impression of the ocean access and view, and the house was overpriced. Despite those things, the location was amazing and we had a great time.

Great location right on the beach!

The house had a great open layout and the ease to get on the beach was amazing. The furniture was older, but fine. The house was not fancy, but made for a great beach vacation. Was able to walk to dinner and other places.
