Clean rooms, well maintained and located in a great spot. Windows are old so you can hear the main road, but still found it comfortable to sleep. The archways are low and stairs a bit steep, but the listing is very straightforward about this. Really enjoyed our time here.
The property is really good. It is a unique experience to stay in an old building. It is also a convenient setup with separate sleeping spaces upstairs and hang out space downstairs.
We really enjoyed staying in a clean, traditional Japanese home. It was very convenient to have the market steps from the door, and there were great little restaurants within walking distance. It was a great stay!
The home was in a lovely neighborhood convenient to subways, with personal touches and cultural touchstones. Our family enjoyed meals around the kitchen at the end of a long day of adventuring around Tokyo! Highly recommend for a traditional Japanese stay with modern comforts! #japanstay
Part of my reason for returning to Japan, was to study traditional interior decorating, This house was a good example, as it was built before WW2, Other advantages were the nice neighborhood, plenty of space, laundry, good heating system, friendly owner.
Hi-de was an excellent host. The responses and information provided were accurate, fast, and much appreciated. I will be recommending this property to all my friends and family, thank you Hi-de
We enjoyed all aspects of our stay at Sumire House. Itâs cozy and safe tucked away in an area filled with families. Everything you need is within easy walking distance, bus just out the door and two major stations a ten minutes walk. The owner is quick to reply to any needs and concerns. Have fun in TokyoâŠwe did!
Wonderful property in a wonderful location. My family and I had a great summer vacation at your home. We canât wait to visit again. Thank you from Canada!
Great property, well situated with convenient access to transit, convenience store, and lots of restaurants and bars. Very nice hosts. Clean and comfortable place.
Second stay and definitely wonât be the last. My brother joined me and we had a great time reliving some childhood memories with this charming home as our launching point each morning. Great location with lots of food options and close to two train stations.
This property was just as we imagined - full of character and charm. Conveniently located to trains, supermarkets, restaurants and so many fabulous attractions with Skytree a short walk away, the river, temples and shrines. Although small it accommodated our family of 4 quite comfortably.
The property was in great condition and had a great feel to it. It is in a great location, perfect for walking around to places and with the shrine so close it is a great introduction when you first arrive into the area.
The Sumire house was an excellent find. Itâs location allowed for easy access to the rest of Tokyoâ and the relaxed nature of the Mukojima meant the hustle and bustle of the city disappeared while you were in the neighborhood.
Great cozy little spot!
We wanted to experience staying in a traditional Japanese house and this place provided that! It is a small house, but it grew on us each day we were there. We loved how it was decorated. It is located in a very residential area with not a lot of restaurants nearby. There is a Family Mart literally steps from the front door (a great place to get coffee in the morning). The Shinto shrine next door is quite nice and peaceful. The house is old and the walls are thin (it is a traditional Japanese house after all from the bygone days of Tokyo). There is a very busy road nearby with a lot of traffic noise, even in the wee hours of the night. Ear plugs are provided, but we didn't use them. The heater/ac units worked great and we were never uncomfortable. The doorways are low and a few of us bumped our heads more than once. The bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. The winding staircase can be a bit tricky if you have mobility issues. Note: Apple Maps will not take you to the right location! Use Google Maps if you are trying to find it. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Skytree Station and about a 8 minute walk to the Hikifune Station so we had no trouble getting to the sites we wanted to visit in Tokyo. I highly recommend a visit to Ueno Park! The host was good about communication via the Vrbo app, sometimes not always the case with properties in Japan. We enjoyed our stay at Sumire house!
Traditional outlook and modern equipments. Convenient to get to Akihabara, Ginza, Asakusa, Shibuya, Shinjuku, or even to Nikko. Bus stop right near the house and get to Asakusa by 10 mins. Less than 10 minutes walk to two major train stations.
Though it is located close to Asakusa, the major tourists attraction in Tokyo, Mukojima area is not polluted with commercial tourism. Mukojima is an old and new town. Japanâs highest tower, Skytree is located in the center of town, where you can enjoy shopping and all kinds of attractions. If you walk along the Sumida River, you will be connected to Asakusa.
