Our gorgeous, artistically-renovated waterfront home features five bedrooms and three full bathrooms in Waterford! Relax on the deck with a built-in hot tub or gather around the fire pit for cozy evenings (bring your own kindling & firewood)! The house is on a peninsula which affords direct water access to Schoolhouse Lake, Lake Oakland and Loon Lake (along with connecting lakes). We have a dock and a small watercraft hoist (perfect for a jet-ski or a small ski boat) along with two paddleboards, two kayaks, and life jackets for the whole family. There are two under-bridge canals that give access to the two lakes we are connected to. They have low clearances but a pontoon and a ski boat with tower folded down can fit underneath them. Our backyard fire pit and sitting area, along with large yard, provide a wonderful setting for entertaining or as a secluded escape. Cook for the whole family in our gorgeous entertaining living room + kitchen area and roast s'mores in the fire pit after! With plenty of parking and easy access to multiple lakes and boat ramps, this is the perfect spot for any gathering or getaway!

The front door to our home is located up just 1 step. The ground floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms along with a kitchen, living room, dining room, and laundry room. Our completely-finished basement (which does have some natural lighting) also features 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom along with a living room with a work-from-home optimized desk setup with 2 monitors, a laptop docking station, keyboard, mouse and a standing desk!

99% of guests are visiting family, friends, on a work trip, or just exploring town. For anyone who intends to have a party, disturb the neighborhood, or in any other way violate our house rules, we want to make clear that:

We have a zero-tolerance policy for this. We have noise sensors that alert us if decibel levels pass a certain threshold, and we have unfortunately had to ask guests to leave for violating this rule. Being a good neighbor of the city and the block we are on is very important to us.

We have sensors to detect indoor smoking (nicotine and marijuana) and have an automatic $750 fine for violations, and have also had to ask guests to leave early for violating this rule.

Parking

We have a garage that fits 2 cars and our driveway fits another 3 - 4 cars. Please do NOT park on the street in-front of the house as it creates a choke point coming off of and going onto the bridge.

Entry

The house is fully accessible via a YALE smart lock at the front door and on the back door. To access the house, enter the code we provide in your reservation check-in instructions, and press the CHECK to unlock.

When leaving, enter that same code followed by the CHECK mark and the deadbolt will close. The locks will also auto-lock after one minute if you forget to lock.

Extra Sleeping Arrangements

Air Mattress: Designed for camping, our air mattress is extra-sturdy and provides a wonderful sleeping space for two. To inflate, please plug in the pump and wait for it to charge. Once the light on it is solid (not blinking), unplug the pump, insert the end into the air mattress, and flip the switch to inflate.

This house is centrally-located for access to the beautiful lakes of Waterford Township as well as lots of areas nearby, including Pine Knob Music Theater (12 minute drive), Clarkston, Auburn Hills, Rochester, Troy, and West Bloomfield. The house is also only a 45 minute drive to Detroit’s best amenities.

We love hosting folks, so we want to be as respectful as possible to our wonderful neighbors. Since we’re in a quiet neighborhood, we do ask that you follow a few easy rules:

- No parties & no overnight guests without prior approval. If you’re looking to host a small gathering, that’s probably ok but please let us know.
- Respectful, quiet volume, particularly after 9 pm.
- Please leave your shoes at the door.
- No pets please, as many of the guests we host have allergies.
- No smoking - also, don't discard your cigarettes in house trash cans. They get stinky.
- If you break or damage something, please let us know and arrange for its replacement or repair.
- Do not leave any food out that will attract uninvited pests. Our home is pest-free and we intend to keep it that way with your help.
- When accessing the lake (sometimes referred to as a "swim area"), all guests do so at their own risk

Getting Around

While access to public transportation is not easily available from our house, UBER and LYFT run consistently in the area and are quick, cheap, and accessible options to get anywhere in the Waterford/East Side/Canton/Ann Arbor areas!
