FANTASTIC Location

Everything was communicated to us in plenty of time for our visit. Getting in with the code was a breeze. Property was clean. The location was so convenient - right by the Paddington station. Plenty of drug/convenience stores, pubs, places to eat in the immediate vicinity. One of the toilets was out of order during our visit, which was unfortunate, but the other one was fine. No other issues - all we really did was sleep and shower here and this was a perfect home base for that!

This property is not value for money. Not as advertised, lacking consideration for travellers and other questionable issues. Located in a mews opposite exit for smokers of a sports pub so noisy. Train vibrations constant.

Great location but the property was not

The location is amazing, couldn’t ask for better. The furnishings in the apartment were old: uncomfortable mattresses, peeling vinyl on a the kitchen chairs. The linens smelled misty and many of the lights were out. We had 1 in the upstairs bathroom that worked. After check out I was shocked when the host accused us of damaging the chairs and breaking a puck light in the ceiling. Not sure what her cleaning people told her, but we left the flat as we found it.

Excellent Location, Basic accommodation

The location of this property is great, it's across the street from a major train hub, which makes it great for getting to/from airport and other train stations as well as to anywhere in London via tube. The apartment itself is very basic, it is mostly clean, and well maintained, but a few bits are showing it's age, such us very worn down chairs that were molting as well as the shower head that no longer stays in it's place and the glass partition on the tub has shifted dangerously out of it's position. Communication with the host was a bit slow and not always clear. finally we caught a few rather hot days in London and while this apartment is equipped with portable (rollaway) air-conditioners -- the windows aren't set up for the exhaust vents, which means to use an AC we have to leave the window open, and that kinda defeats the purpose on a hot day. Overall this is an OK property in a great location. but could be so much better with so little effort.

Poor experience but great location!

We did not get check-in information, after multiple attempts to contact property manager we finally got in touch through VRBO support. This left us stranded with our kids for a couple hours. When we finally received the information there was no apology. We booked as a family of 5 for 4 nights. Felt that supplies and communication were lacking. Did have 6 towels, but no kitchen towels, wash clothes or hand towels, and only 1 spare roll of toilet paper. No dishwashing detergent. Also, major safety concern as we found a bag of expired smoke detectors under the sink, and the carbon dioxide detector also removed. Only one smoke detector in a three story, 2 room house. The spring mattresses were terrible. And Ikea mattress would be a major improvement. We run a vacation rental, and also use rentals almost exclusively when traveling. I feel confident saying that this host is not doing a good job. All that said the place was as pictured and the location was excellent.

Likely bait and switch

Frankly, I'm surprised that this property is still listed on VRBO (as of July 18). I wish I had seen the relatively recent awful reviews before making this reservation. We could have avoided tons of stress associated with the offered (disappointing) alternative four night "back up location" in another part of London. We were only given one day's notice (in limited English texts) that our original rental was unavailable. Upon checking us in to the alternative, Ana (the landlord) showed us a photo of horrific damage to the original location. (Odd that we weren't informed of this until it was too late to back out and get our money back). So, what was good about the "switch" alternative location? It had electricity - though no working light fixture in the master bedroom. It had running water - though the hot water only functioned in the master bathroom (not the hall bathroom nor the kitchen). Evidence of smoking was not present in every room - just mainly the living room (empty cigarette lighter, cigarette carton, ashtrays, smell of stale smoke). The handles on most of the doors worked - just not the one going into the living room (it fell off) and the hallway bathroom door wouldn't shut. Linens were provided for two sleeping locations (our original booking was for two beds and a pullout bed) - so we bought a sheet and pillow case set and used them on the sofa. I hope VRBO exercises due diligence and carefully follows up on this property which should NOT be offered here.

cancellation from owner "day" of check in

The owner cancelled at the last moment and without notice from either her or VRBO. When I was able to get hold of her, she said she did not know who to contact VRBO. Cancelling the day of, in London, when they were having a marathon did not allow us to find suitable accommodations. We missed tours we had previously scheduled and had to take a 6 hr train ride each day to and from London. Terrible experience..

Große Katastrophe

Bereits im Vorfeld ist eine sehr mangelhafte Kommunikation aufgefallen. Auf Fragen wurde nicht eingegangen. Zwei Tage vor Reisebeginn erfuhren wir, dass die Wohnung wohl überbucht sei, wir aber die ersten seien. Auf erneute Rückfrage bekamen wir keine Antwort. So traten wir die Reise an - und erfuhren am Flughafen in London, dass der Vermieter die Buchung storniert hatte…. Völlige Katastrophe!!!! So standen wir als Familie mit Kind in London ohne Unterkunft! Unzumutbar!!! Nie wieder!!!
