My family of 8 adults and our dog had a wonderful time in this large charming home. There was plenty of room for all of us. We loved the hidden staircase, huge yard, gardens, sun room and large dining room table for nightly game nights. The beds were very comfortable as well. A Fantastic Stay in a Beautifully Kept Historic Home
We had a great stay at this property. Rachel was very communicative prior to our stay. The home was delivered to us well-cleaned. Would recommend this property to others!
This house is a perfect getaway! We absolutely loved everything, and it was one of the highlights of our trip! It is so clean, organized, has all the modern amenities yet itâs like stepping back in time to the late 1800âs! My whole family slept fabulously in the comfy beds too! I only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it some more! I would highly recommend this house, no need to look any further!
We had a wonderful stay at this historic Salem vacation home with three generations of our familyâfrom grandparents to young kidsâand it was the perfect fit for all of us. The house was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully set up with plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. The bedrooms were comfortable and quiet, and there was a great mix of privacy and communal space. The spacious but cozy kitchen was the most frequently used room, where we played games, had impromptu dance-offs and enjoyed meals. The living room had enough seating for movie nights, and the outdoor space was a bonusâperfect for morning coffee or letting the kids burn off some energy.Location-wise, we couldnât have asked for better. The house was close to downtown Salem and all the historic sites, but far enough away to feel peaceful. We explored shops, walked the water-front and enjoyed the spooky charm Salem is known for. Generous parking on the property allowed us to fit all of our vehicles without worrying about parking on the street. Our host was incredibly responsive and made sure everything was in place for a smooth check-in and stay. It was clear they put a lot of thought into making this home welcoming for families of all ages.Highly recommend this home for any family looking for a comfortable, well-located base to explore Salem together! We absolutely would return to this location again!
It was truly an 1800 home. Loved the hidden staircase. My grandsons used them to get to their room!!! Peaceful area. It was walkable for the young ones! Not far from many of the places we wanted to go. Just an all around wonderful experience!!
This is a wonderful historic home in a cute neighborhood. Walking distance to some good restaurants. The property manager was incredibly responsive and helpful. Loved the history of the house and all of the features. Very close to everything and super convenient! Being in a historic home in Salem in October was really fun to come up with spooky stories. Weâd for sure recommend this home!
This house was absolutely stunning and perfect for our family. It is the perfect location and so many beautiful nooks and crannies. We loved the historic feel and the gorgeous grounds. It was such a lovely walk into town and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Easily accessible. I will absolutely be back!
Such a neat historic home. About a 15/20 minute walk to downtown Salem. Very clean - loved the historic charm. Perfect for our early family fall getaway. Would definitely recommend! Host was super responsive and check in/check out was a breeze. Loved our stay!
This was such a wonderful place to stay. While my friends and I had so much fun exploring Salem, I almost wish we could have spent a little more time at the house. It was so quiet and peaceful in the neighborhood, and the property was beautiful. I would highly recommend booking this property!
A beautiful historic home with old-world charm and modern-day conveniences.
The Robert Manning House, where Nathaniel Hawthorne was raised by his uncle, is a slice of history and it was a privilege (and a thrill for this ex-New Englander) to be able to stay there. Communication with the property manager was fast and easy. We had no problems at all. It was a seamless stay in an incredibly fascinating home. Salem itself, as I knew from growing up near there, is an endlessly interesting town with a lot of emphasis on the days of the Puritans and the witch trials. September and especially October are peak tourist months (because of Hallowe'en, and, you know, witches) so Old Town Salem was crowded and we didn't spend much time there. We were there for a family wedding, not for sightseeing. But the house is close to nearly everything you would want to see, and tourist sites are easily reached by car or by walking. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Our main goal for this family vacation was to celebrate my mother-in-lawâs 70th birthday and give her some time with her son and his family that live nearby. We are nearly 12 hours away in PA so it was awesome to be able to have a spacious and homey place to have dinner, enjoy conversations or just relax. The house had everything we needed-they seriously thought of everything! The yard was spacious and the property close to town. It was easy to communicate with the property managers who were extremely helpful when we had questions. I highly recommend this property and would love to visit it again.
What a wonderful home to stay in for a friends trip to Salem! Close proximity to downtown so everything was easily accessible. The kitchen is updated and has everything needed. The backyard is serene and there are yard games available to play. We truly had the best time and can't wait to come back!
My family and I have been on the North Shore for the last 10 years and love exploring all that this area has to offer! We love to enjoy Gloucester beaches, or adventure to local coffeeshops and breweries. I'm looking forward to hosting you here in our neck of the woods. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
Robert Manning Place is located in North Salem. Salem offers a wide variety of attractions, shops, dining, bars and breweries. We are just a 15-minute walk to the Salem Train Station (easy access to Boston).
This home has a rich history dating back to ties with the area's famous Nathaniel Hawthorne. This is also a rare opportunity to access an entire home complete with fenced in yard and off street parking all in the heart of Salem!
