Haus Windham is a boutique mountain retreat owned and operated by a small, hands-on hospitality team based in the Catskills. We took on this property because we wanted to build something the area didn't have — the design, finish, and service of a luxury boutique hotel, paired with the privacy and space of a vacation rental.
Every one of our 11 suites was reimagined from the ground up and individually designed. The standard package across the property includes Parachute linens and duvets, heated tile floors, gas fireplaces, spa-style bathrooms with rainfall showers, Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Echo, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Daily housekeeping is included on every stay — not on request, not for an upcharge — because we believe the best part of a getaway is not having to think about logistics.

What we love about hosting is the moment guests stop checking their phones. It usually happens within the first hour of arrival, somewhere between the first walk through the 22 acres and the first fire by the gas fireplace. The Catskills have a way of slowing people down, and our job is to remove every small friction that might get in the way of that.

Our team is on-site, accessible, and obsessive about the details — cleanliness, communication, and making sure every stay feels effortless from arrival to checkout. We answer messages quickly, we keep the property impeccable, and we take guest feedback seriously. Most of our bookings come from repeat guests and referrals, and that's the standard we work to.

Windham is one of the Catskills' best-kept secrets — a small mountain village about 2.5 hours from NYC that delivers everything Vermont does without the extra two hours in the car. The town is anchored by Windham Mountain, a four-season resort with 54 trails, 1,600 feet of vertical, terrain parks, and weekend night skiing — and it's just a 3-minute drive from our front door.

Beyond skiing, Windham is built for an active, low-key getaway. The Windham Path is a flat 1.5-mile walking trail that runs through the valley — perfect for a morning coffee walk or an after-dinner stroll. Windham Country Club's 18-hole course is open to the public from spring through fall, with mountain views on every fairway. Hunter Mountain, Hunter-area breweries, the Kaaterskill Falls hike, and the antique shops of Tannersville are all a short drive away.

The town itself has the kind of character that's hard to manufacture. There are independent restaurants, a couple of really good cafés, a farmers market in season, and almost no chain stores. It's quiet without being remote, charming without being precious. In summer the air is fifteen degrees cooler than the city. In fall the foliage genuinely stops conversations. In winter it's a real ski town with two hundred years of history. In spring the trout streams open back up.

Most of our guests come up for a long weekend and end up extending the stay — or returning within six months. That's the kind of place this is.

Haus Windham occupies a category that almost doesn't exist in the Catskills — a boutique hotel and luxury vacation rental hybrid set on 22 private acres, backed by 80 additional acres of protected forest. Most properties in the area force a tradeoff: hotel-style service and amenities, or the space and privacy of a vacation rental. Here, you get both.

THE PROPERTY
22 private acres with on-property hiking trails, propane fire pits with Adirondack chairs, Tesla Destination Charging, and free parking. The 80 acres of protected forest behind us mean the views and the quiet are permanent.

THE SUITES
11 individually designed accommodations ranging from 250 sq ft glass mirror cabins to a 2,500 sq ft 5-bedroom chalet — the widest variety of luxury options on a single Catskills property. Every suite includes Parachute linens, heated tile floors, gas fireplaces, spa-style bathrooms with rainfall showers, Samsung Smart TVs, and Amazon Echo. Most have full or partial kitchens. No two suites are alike, but every one is held to the same finish standard.

OUR SIGNATURE: GLASS MIRRÖR HAÜS CABINS
Two stand-alone cabins with mirrored exterior walls that reflect the surrounding forest, paired with floor-to-ceiling interior windows that pull the mountain view inside. They are among the most photographed accommodations in the region.
