Wonderful with cows
Every part of our stay was enjoyable. The cottage is small, but perfect for our family of three. The views were amazing! Our daughter loved waiting for the early evening visit by the cows. Our host was accommodating but never intrusive and made every effort to ensure we were comfortable. The pool...Heaven - especially after a long, hot day at Commonwealth Park. Modern kitchen, direct TV, Wifi... it was all great.
Fantastic property with a great host
With a days notice we locked in a Thursday Friday stay. Was coming from the Midwest notified host (Zann) I was coming in about 4pm. She was quick to respond to my questions and concerns and she even went in early to get the AC to a comfortable temp. The property was great. Just what we needed. Out of the city and in the country. Perfect deck to have a morning coffee and sunset with a cold one in hand. The house came with everything needed for the stay. Was have to make a couple great meal and breakfast every morning. I can’t say enough about the host Zann. Sweet lady that help with any problems. When asked if she knew of another local BnB to stay Saturday night she offered but a basement studio. And durning our check out in the morning she joined us for a cup of coffee and made great conversation. I highly recommend and will be back myself, hopefully soon.
Splendid Tranquility: Rain on a Tin Roof and a Thousand Dancing Fireflies
We needed an impromptu getaway, relatively close to home but far enough from suburban NoVA to ensure that we could relax in comfort and in peaceful, green surroundings. All of that was here. We could barely convince ourselves to leave the cottage porch long enough to procure some groceries, so happy were we with the transformative experience of greeting storms rolling in and out again, floating blissfully in the saltwater pool, exploring fields that stretched out beyond the edge of sight, and marveling at the true darkness of an evening lit only by streams and streams of dancing fireflies. We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage itself (yes, it is compact and simply furnished, and the staircase is--manageably, not terrifyingly--steep, but everything we could want was available) and the delightful company and conversation when Zann stopped by to ensure that all was well. Our companion, Jake-the-Cairn-Terrier, was glad for the company of Scout, the resident Jack Russell terrier, and for the chance to roam off-leash in freedom from our typical overprotective concern. I wish that I had ventured down to the fishing pond, but that's my only regret. We were fortunate to have found our way to this tranquil and extraordinary place in every other respect.
Beautiful property, gracious host.
We highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing respite. Adorable cottage, gracious and accommodating host.
Perfect getaway from the city
We were looking for a peaceful place in the country, where we could be close to the Shenandoah National Park, near a good selection of VA wineries, and watch the stars at night. This place was everything we could hope for. Zann was very welcoming and made it really easy for us arriving late at night. She was so thoughtful that, prior to our arrival, she had turned on the heating system so we wouldn't be cold by the time we arrived. We highly recommend this place, and will definitely try to stay here next time we need to get away from the city.
A quiet getaway
We were looking for a quiet get away. This was perfect. Joyce and Zann were welcoming and made sure we got there safely in the dark. The house was comfortable and we really enjoyed the electric fireplace.
