This unit fit all of our needs regarding location, cleanliness, and amenities. I would 100% recommend this property to my friends and family and will revisit this if I'm in town in the future!
Upper Burningtown is a bit off the beaten path but the views and quiet make it a worthwhile trip. The bedrooms are very large. Chloe was extremely accommodating and thought of juat about everything. Internet is good, too. Very happy we chose this place.
This property was up a steep gravel slope. The gravel was very loose and dry and we ended up not being able to access the property with the vehicle we had (2018 Ford Explorer). In fact, our vehicle was somewhat damaged in the process of sliding back down the road.
The host was gracious and tried to be helpful, even offering to attempt to drive our car up the road, but with the damage that had already been done, we decided not to risk it and and booked a different rental for the next night. I do not blame the host for the issue. It was clearly the road conditions, which they don't control. Still, it did end up costing us a significant amount of extra money to book a new place and pay for two when we only used one.
Very nice well kept property. Exceeded my expectations. I had no need to contact Chloe as everything was in order. She did stop by to be sure things were in order. Will not hesitate to recommend this property to friends.
Too many small mice in kitchen and lizards in guest BR. Dive way was hard to navigate. Then we got COVID 2 days before leaving.
Just a rough visit for us.
Very peaceful, a few issues, but would definitely stay again!
Pros: Peaceful and private location about 20-25 minutes from town and easy trips to several good hikes and waterfalls. Walking up the driveway towards the house behind it and then down to the road and back gives you a nice warm-up walk of about a half a mile. There is a great view from one side of the house (unfortunately the trees surrounding the property effectively block long range views from the other three sides). Chloe is VERY responsive, but my cell service was terrible so I had to rely on either talking on the phone in the backyard near the picnic table (where I picked up two bars) or text messages sent from in front of the TV. When I tried to connect to the Wi-Fi, neither my phone or work computer would do so, giving me messages that the router configuration was not considered secure and needed to be reconfigured. Thus my plans to do a little work on one day were a bust. My personal iPad DID connect and while service was very slow, it was good enough to check email and research and map hikes.
Cons: housekeeping - there was no hand soap in either bathroom, nor were there refill bottles anywhere to fill them with. One sink did not drain as it was covered with dried food crud (which I cleaned out and scrubbed). There was trash around the outside of property when I arrived that I picked up (paper plates, aluminum cans, etc). The hoses to the washer were disconnected and the rubber rings were old so that there was a slow leak once connected (I turned the water off when we finished the load) and the water turned on. The grill grates were rusted such that the grill was not usable. Neither shower had hot water. The dial only turned 90 degrees (halfway to hot) instead of the full 180 from C to H. As a result, while not ice cold, we showered in room temperature water. I really did not want to interrupt my vacation with having the issues fixed while we were there as lukewarm water was still good enough to shower in, but informed Chloe later. She assured me the issues would be addressed and suggested the housekeeper may have been overwhelmed from cleaning up the mess from recent construction on the property. As mentioned in the âprosâ, above, Chloe is very responsive and I wouldnât hesitate to stay there again.
The place we actually rented was not available, but they gave us another one right by it. The mountain was beautiful,we saw snow. I love Franklin. Will be back.
We truly enjoyed this property! I wish I could move there. We arrived at night so we didn't get to see the views or our surroundings. The next morning, we woke up to see the most beautiful views we have ever seen! I highly recommend this property. The check in process was extremely easy. We did pass the road to turn onto to go to the driveway, but we figured it out quickly. I would love to rent this cabin again just because of the views. Seeing the clouds come in, and even the storms, and go right back to being sunny...such a sight to see!
A great spot and everything you need for a relaxing getaway. The view is gorgeous and enough room between you and company. Youâd need binoculars to try and find a neighbor which is great! This place will make you want a house on the mountain tops in NC. What a release and enjoyment to be away from crowded areas! Your pets can roam without worry and you can hike many trails or just hang out and enjoy the view which is beautiful. The host is a very accommodating and easy person to work with which makes the experience much more enjoyable and stress free. Franklin is a great little town if you want to visit it with many awesome restaurants and a great flee market with all kinds of good food and interesting things you might like. All around I would do it again and thatâs not easy to say these days at a good price for peace of mind and a release from populated areas with friendly people!
The photographs online do not honestly represent the surrounding views TODAY. Photographs must have been take 15 years ago as today the trees surrounding property are all healthy TALL trees obscuring most of the awesome views from property. That was our only disappointment.
It was everything I dreamed of. The cabin was well maintained, grounds well kept and the mountain views were awesome. Peace and quiet was fantastic! Chloe came by to see me a couple times during the week to make sure all was well. I hope I can get back there next year. Heaven on Earth!
Despite the narrow roads in Franklin, the property was everything we wanted/needed. Perfect set-up for our family and so clean and quiet (we live between 2 major cities so not a lot of quiet at home). Loved being able to sit on the porch swing and watch the hummingbirds and just reset from the craziness. Chloe was fabulous and answered all my questions.
Total seclusion, perfect for a quiet and peaceful trip
My husband and I enjoyed our 10 year anniversary weekend here. We wanted to be locked away for a few days and this was the perfect place. You have so much natural beauty, hiking, and waterfalls within a 30 min to 1 hour drive to explore. The driveway is gravel, very long, and steep we used 4 wheel drive, but 2 wheel drive will work as well. Cell service is non existent so don't depend on it for directions. Wifi is weak considering the location so streaming TV options or using multiple devices can be spotty at times, but would only be a problem if you have multiple people using it at once. My only complaint was the amount of towels. There were only 3 available for 2 people for 3 days. Luckily we had brought some with us. We will definitely be planning a trip back soon with our kids. We absolutely loved this cabin.
