Looking for mountain retreat nestled in the woods of The Great Smoky. Close to Franklin, NC, Black Rock State Park, and Clayton, GA. 45 minutes from Cherokee, Harrah's Casino, and Bryson City NOC; or take a ride on the Great Smoky Railroad. Enjoy the quiet of the mountains as you relax in a rocker under the oversized gazebo listening to the running stream. Plan a day of hiking on the Appalachian Trail, or around Wayah Bald. Take a drive to Highlands stopping to see Bridal Veil Falls and Dry Falls. Spend an evening at one of the many local breweries. Full kitchen, full bathroom, open floor plan with queen bed and bunk beds. Feel free to use the outdoor fireplace. Linens and towels provided.
Perfect one room with kitchen and private bath. Host was so accommodating. I enjoyed the remoteness and quiet. My pup also loved the hosts pup as well as the neighbor's. I will go here again.
We loved the studio mountain retreat. The fact that it was off the beaten path on a quaint shared gravel road/ drive in a quiet valley with streams running through it. Real nice modern comforts with everything you need and even a friendly dog.
The tiny blue house was perfect for our stay. The house is actually larger than I expected. It had everything we needed. The property owner was quick to reply when I had a question.
I was very impressed with this tiny house!! We only stayed for the night but the drive in was like going on an adventure. 2 small creek crossings and the property was beautiful. Very quiet, had everything we needed and more. Owners we quick to answer any questions and very accommodating!! Highly recommend this property!
This property was exactly what we were looking for in a weekend stay. The property is in the heart of the Nantahala Forest, and still just a short drive ( /- 15 minutes) from everything. The space is cozy but still plenty comfortable in size for 3-4. The kitchen was well-suited for a short stay (lacks only a dishwasher). It couldn't possibly be more serene.
My two children and dog needed a little getaway, and this was perfect! The kids loved the bunk beds, and it had everything we needed. It was clean, beautiful location, Carole answered my questions promptly, conveniently located to Clayton, Highlands, and Franklin. Highly recommend!
The host was good about answering questions we had. The Wi-Fi gave us a bit of an issue but was nothing too much of a big deal. They had satellite TV and we watched that.
I was fishing in the Nantahala headwater and the forecast called for rain. This was a great place to crash for the night about 35 minutes from the stream.
Beautiful area great to get away with the pup. Listened to the stream by the property to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Property owner was very repsonive and accomodating. Full kitchen and TV to hook up the laptop and watch some soccer games. :) Nearby to great hiking spots and cute little towns too.
I found this place to be a clean and rustic... kind of cute too. Although there was only me, this place was large enough to accommodate four. The only thing I would wish for was a sign designating the address of this guest cottage. Arriving after nightfall offered me a small challenge. Otherwise, it was exactly as described.
It was an absolute luxury and pleasure to stay here. I have been telling all of the people I know about this little slice of quiet mountain perfection!
I will definitely be a return visitor!
Carol and her husband are gracious and communicate wonderfully!
I spent the day and night here and it had all the comfort of home and more!
Minutes from town, but feels like worlds away. At night, there are so many stars, you won't believe it.
It was nothing but breezes, birdsong and cascading river sounds. I am in love with this little guest house retreat.
We booked this cute little home for a weekend if e getaway and it was so nice. Very clean home, nice comfy bed. It was perfect for me and my husband. The host/hostess was super friendly and easy to communicate with. They even invited us to eat supper with them at a local Mexican restaurant. The food and company was great & we felt super comfortable around them. The little home is attached to the host personal home but you have your own privacy. They even had coffee available for us and some sausage egg and cheese Crossiants available in the freezer for breakfast. We will definitely be back and stay again. Highly recommend.
We visited in March (sorry for the late review) when it had snowed and was very cold. The drive in was so fun. The kids loved driving through the two little streams, and we wish it hadnât been so cold so they could enjoy nature more. Even with freezing temps, it was easy to get to. Some people worry about that with a rental in the mountains, but this is easy accessible. No high mountains to go up. Thereâs beautiful stonework all around the property, and a stream you can hear. Even though itâs an add on attached to the ownerâs house, you wouldnât know it. Very private, and communication with the owners is easy if you need anything. We were surprised at the amenities with the updated kitchen and access to tv shows for the kids. The bunk beds were their favorite. Itâs all one shared room, but we didnât feel cramped at all. Thereâs a step down from the living area to the bathroom, so make sure to leave a nightlight on in case anyone needs to get up in the night. Add a couple of hooks for coats and hangers and itâs absolutely perfect! My parents live nearby, so we hope to stay again soon!
The studio house was a very nice weekend get-away for some hiking in the area. If you're looking for a nice secluded property off of some gravel roads for a good value this is a great option. Directions were easy to follow from GPS. There are two small creeks/streams that you have to cross to get to the property so I would recommend and SUV/truck to drive there for additional road clearance. The clearance on the creeks could give smaller cars some trouble. I drove in a standard Chevy Colorado with no issue.
The house is connected to the host's house, but there was a good bit a privacy for our stay. The property was very clean with a full kitchen with plates, utensils, oven, microwave, and fridge. There is a queen bed and two bunk beds. Four can sleep comfortably but depending on the number of bags it could start to get a bit cramped. There is also internet, which was a bit slow but I was bale to stream movies without much of an issue and dish TV.
The host was extremely attentive and added some firewood at no additional cost. There are two space heaters for the electrical heating, which heat up the house very quick.Franklin, NC and Clayton, GA are a short 15-20 minute drive from the location.
Overall very nice property and experience for a stay to recharge before coming back to life.
We came back to visit at this property a 2nd time b cuz we really enjoyed staying here. Great host and wonderful relaxing home. The host even had breakfast items in the fridge for us as well as coffee. Comfy bed, nice hot showers.
The internet is a little slower as well as tv reception but itâs a wonderful place to just relax. Thereâs a National forest area located not far away for jeep trail riding. Wonderful town and great location not too far from Franklin or Clayton.
This was super easy to rent and the managers are very approachable. The inside is cute and uncluttered. Pet friendly and our dog loved the area. I will return and recommend this to others.
