The Neighborhood:
Swinging Bridge Reservoir is the largest largest lake in the Sullivan Catskills, and one of the few that allows motor boats. You'll feel removed from the city, but still within 20 minutes of groceries and things to do. The neighborhood is a mix of seasonal homes and year round residents. A public boat launch is nearby, and just around the corner are two full services marinas--Starlight and Swinging Bridge Marinas. Getting Around: I recommend having car for your stay. Taxis are available, but ride sharing services are more sparse. Rental car services are available in Monticello. Shortline Coach Bus Service provides service between New York City and Monticello as well.
Otisville and Port Jervis Metro North Stations are each approximately 30 minutes drive from the house. The trip from NY Penn Station to Otisville is about 2 hours. Train access is great if you have members of your group who need to arrive/depart at different times.

The dock is not available from early November until the lake has thawed and levels stabilize in late spring.
The house and grounds were spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the lake while we had our morning coffee. More than once we spotted hummingbirds visiting the feeders on the deck. We were out in the kayaks every day and cooled off taking a swim by the dock. The house instructions were clearly posted, and the check in and out went smoothly.
My husband and I took our dog because she loves to swim. The house was beautiful but the steps to take the dog to go potty was a lot. There were two fireplaces which were great and the house was fully equipped with everything we needed. I highly recommend this area and house.
This was the BEST vrbo house ever! Clean and as described! Even fresh veggies / fruit to pick - peaches off the tree , tomatoes, zucchini and a pepper ! Well stocked kitchen ! So many details that made it an extra special trip !
Very nice property as described. Very tricky in the rain getting into the property as the steps are downhill and fill with water.
Nice location. Well stocked. One of the better rental properties I have used. Property is a bit remote.
The house was immaculate. Only recommendation is shades on the dining room windows. The sun was so strong we had to wait for sunset before we could eat dinner
We loved the lake house and the location. Itâs a big house with 3 stories, each story has a bedroom suite.. all necessities were there! Clean house, cozy! Kayaks were there for our use as well as lots of water toys.. what we lived the most is that itâs truly on the lake, with private access to the lake.. water is clean!!
