Stretch out and relax with all the comforts. The Starlight offers two bedrooms with one queen-size and one double bed, a full bath, a living area, and a full kitchen. Flat-screen TV with complimentary Netflix, and free wireless. Or simply watch the light change on the mountain from your front-porch rocker!

It's the best of all worlds for your getaway. You're in town, so you're not subject to being stranded in a remote location if the elements turn against you. You can stroll and dine and shop and soak up the unique character of Fort Davis, and you're a quick drive from Texas' most dramatic mountain vistas. Fifteen breathtaking miles from the McDonald Observatory. Twenty miles from the art Mecca of Marfa. Thirty-two miles from a refreshing swim in the spring-fed mountain pool at Balmorhea. You're surrounded by history both inside--in a past life, Casa Hermosa served our country as a barracks for Army Air Force pilots during World War I---and outside--the rocks on our mountains are 500 million years old, and once served as hiding places for Apache and Comanche warriors.

The Casa Hermosa is an original adobe structure in the old town of Fort Davis. The home consists of 2 independent units, The Starlight, and The King Suite. Each space has its own covered patio, private entrance, dedicated parking, and grill. This listing is solely for the Starlight.

This pet friendly property offered us a base camp with easy access to Davis Mountains State Park, chihuahuan desert research institute, Alpine, and Marfa. The property was well kept and the beds were comfortable. I haven’t seen a night sky that big since the Omani desert. Plenty of deer and javelinas around dusk every day.

Our family of 4 and dog had a great and comfortable stay at the casita. We spent 3 nights at the property and were very pleased with all the amenities that were available to us such as the kitchen and even down to the shampoo & conditioner available to us. If you want solitude and the quiet of West Texas this is the way to go. Beds were comfortable and air conditioner was much appreciated during our rather warm Christmas. Thank you again, The Weiss Family.

Small home with very comfortable beds. The house is directly across the street from the local high school. Lots of goat heads/stickers in the yard made it unusable for the doggie, had to walk the neighborhood instead. With everything considered, I would stay here again. Matt was very responsive to questions. We love Fort Davis and all the things to do in the area!

We appreciate being informed about the experience. We weren't contacted about this until 3 days after checkout. We were informed that there were some sticky spots on the floor, the fridge was dirty, and there was a hair in the tub. This was unacceptable on our end, and none of these things are considered up to our standards. The short of it is that there was oversight on our part that led to this because of a separate issue we were having in the adjacent unit. If this had been brought to our attention in real time, someone would have been sent over immediately to remedy the situation. But since we weren’t informed until days after checkout, the only option available to us in order to remedy the situation was to give a refund for the cleaning charges. The guest was in touch with us at two different times during the stay and never made a mention of any issues. We strive to do our best. We ourselves are fellow travelers, and we understand what it's like to find yourself in a less-than-ideal environment after a long day of traveling. Now, the fact that one should even have to deal with it at all is unacceptable. But unfortunately, things do happen from time to time. We've been hosting for almost 3 years now, the entire time with our fabulous cleaning crew, and we appreciate all of their hard work. And they are as embarrassed as we are to find this 1 star review.

This is my favorite place to stay while in Fort Davis! This is my second stay with Matt, the first time being in the one bedroom unit. So, it felt like coming home, when I saw that the 2-bedroom unit was available this stay. Matt is great on communication, and very welcoming. The space is very welcoming, and the porch is the place to be, with a view of Sleeping Lion Mountain. The neighborhood is great for walking my dogs, very quiet and safe. Everything was perfect. I will definitely stay there again, and recommend to my friends who might be traveling there. Thank you for another great stay, Matt!

As brilliant as the night skies!

We loved spending our stay here. It was the perfect size for us for a few days. The exterior space for dark sky viewing was splendid. We truly enjoyed the coziness of the tiny house and trying out the various on- and off-grid services. I thought the bed would be too soft, but it was a dream. We would definitely stay here again.

Sweet Escape

We came to celebrate our sons 5th birthday with a star party and while the observatory and sights were amazing, our “mini house” (as our son lovingly called it) was truly one of the best parts. We didn’t know it was monsoon season so we spent a few hours each day sitting on the porch reading and playing while listening to the rain and it was perfect. The style, vibes, and comfort were outstanding. Also, this is probably one of the softest beds I’ve ever slept on. It was an amazing stay! 100/10 would recommend!

Our stay in Fort Davis at Casa Hermosa

We had a lovely several days visiting Fort Davis and enjoyed our stay at the Casa Hermosa. Communication with Matthew was clear and prompt. The house was very comfortable for two couples and we enjoyed some time out on the front porch. Very convenient for our trips to McDonald Observatory and Davis Mountain State Park. Would definitely stay again.

Clean and Convenient

The Starlight at Casa Hermosa is within walking distance of main street Ft. Davis. Depiction of house on line is accurate and everything was clean and ready when we arrived. Hosts are accommodating and easy to communicate with.
