LeClaire historic stone house with modern updates, river views and large yard
Take it easy at this uniquely updated historical home that offers a tranquil getaway with river views. The main floor is a light filled, open concept design with a beautiful quartz island and a full kitchen optimal for cooking. It has a new large deck that is furnished for your enjoyment as well as a large backyard for entertaining and fun. The basement walks out to the backyard and has a finished full bathroom that sits right inside for easy access when enjoying the backyard. Please note there is an older narrow staircase that leads to the 2nd floor bedrooms and bathrooms. If you have difficulty managing stairs, this is likely not a good fit.
This property was just right for our cousins weekend. We were able to enjoy the beautiful deck. The neighborhood is very quiet. We were able to walk downtown for shopping and entertainment. The only negative is the stair cases but we knew it was a historic home and knew what to expect.
We were attracted to the old stone building! It was beautiful inside with a lot of modern updates in kitchen & living area. The deck outside had views of the river. The only drawback, which was stated in Alex & Camâs description, were the steep stairs up to the bedrooms. We handled it just fine. It was very close to shopping, wineries.
This beautiful home was the perfect place a weekend trip with friends! The spacious first floor was the perfect place for us to relax and play games. The rooms were spacious and clean. The stairs to get upstairs were narrow and steep but as long as took the stairs slowly there were no issues! The hosts were great and very responsive to questions.
My two sisters and I loved our stay at the old Stone House. Sitting on the deck was especially nice! The furnishings were very modern and comfortable. The stairway to upstairs was a bit of a challenge due to the narrow treads but we just took our time and it was fine.
Loved the house. I was able to find out more about the house history online. High end finishes were also lovely. I would definitely recommend this house and would stay again if in the area. Thanks Alex!
Built in 1842 we loved traces of very old things left behind from previous generations of people. Your mind could not help wondering who built this house, was their love and family traditions in that beautiful limestone because we left some there for the next guests. â„ïž
Itâs apparent the owners of this property take pride in this historic home. There are upgrades throughout, and the kitchen is especially beautiful.
We did encounter a few challenges. First, the upstairs bedrooms were extremely hot for our first nightâs stay. We turned the thermostat down on the main level and ran every fan available in the house, but the temps were easily in the 80s in the bedrooms. Our 2nd challenge were mayflies that entered a gap in the kitchen window and were covering the white kitchen island the next morning.
Thankfully the property owner was very responsive and was able to have an HVAC tech close dampers in the basement to force air upstairs. The 2nd night was very comfortable. The property owner did offer to clean the kitchen, but we had already cleaned the bulk of it. Unfortunately more mayflies were able to get in the 2nd night.
I do think future tenants will have a nice stay in the home especially when temps are more moderate outside. The addition of more window shades would be especially helpful to block heat that builds temp inside. They would also help with privacy at night time.
Overall itâs a really neat home with a nice view of the river and is close to restaurants and attractions. The owners were very responsive and kind, but I do think we should have been compensated for our first nightâs stay.
We relaxed and enjoyed the house, it had a lot of nice touches. The owners were responsive to our messages. I would recommend this home, we hope to stay again.
This is a quiet neightborhood, approximately 4 blocks (10 minute walk) from downtown LeClaire. LeClaire offers an assortment of antique stores, boutiques, restaurants and bars.
Our home was built in 1842. It has an abundance of windows that let in a lot of natural light and provide beautiful views of the river from the back of the home. There is a brand new large deck that gets sunshine in the early morning and provides shade from the early afternoon on. The home has been updated to a modern minimalistic style to showcase the beautiful views.
