Vermont house in stunning private country setting and 360 degree panoramic views
For your 2025 outdoor recharge enjoy secluded privacy on our 60 acre retreat at the base of Equinox Mountain. (NO INTERNET OR CELL SERVICE BUT HAS A LAND LINE PHONE) Relax in the Adirondack chairs by our large outdoor firepit & wood grill, unwind on the large covered porch or rekindle your youth on our 14 foot adult swings. As one guest reviewed âThe views are spectacular. The house has an old charm and is cabin-like cozy.â Explore the area and go mountain biking, fishing , tubing, or canoeing in the renowned Battenkill River (12 minute drive). Hike from our property on the Beartown Gap Trail to top of Equinox Mountain to the famous Skyline Drive and Visitors Center and enjoy 5 state breathtaking views. Play lawn games and just take in the outdoors. NOTE: We have 2 gates that access the property. The first gate we have put a new road in 2025 for easy access. If you use the second gate up the road it has some rough spots so a SUV or high clearance car is recommended (such as a Volvo, Forester or Subaru type) however it is not a problem.
INTERESTING NOTE: This property was featured on a National Geographic TV show âBuilding Wildâ episode âBackwoods Busâ found on you tube. Paulie Dimeo and his crew and our family & friends built a small quaint cabin and pond. It is about a 10 minute walk from the rental property if you want to see it. (Sorry no access to inside)
Our property is in Manchester, Vermont about a 30 minute drive to Manchester Village. It is on the opposite side of Equinox Mountain & Manchester Center. Our location is an area still known as Beartown which is a 1700âs community long gone. Our 3 generation house is at the base of Equinox Mountain, the highest peak in Southern Vermont on 60 acres in the middle of a 25 acre meadow. The 360 degree view is truly spectacular. Built in 1962 we remodeled the kitchen & bathroom in 2022 but kept the rustic feel of the living and bedroom area.. There is NO INTERNET OR CELL SERVICE so its a good time to relax and build relationships in our serene nature retreat. We have a land line phone (calling card needed for long distance which we have included) and 70 dvd movies.
Need a change from nature? Take a ride and experience Vermontâs covered bridges ( donât miss the famous West Arlington covered bridge and adjacent Norman Rockwell home and studio only a 15 minute drive) Take a 30 minute drive around the mountain and visit quiescent Manchester Village voted #1 getaway by âTravel and Leisureâ. Explore the many great restaurants, museums, and quaint shops including the Orvis Flagship store, Southern Vt Art Center, Hildene Lincoln Estate, and the Northshire Book Store to name a few. Take a ride up the famous Equinox Mountain Skyline drive and experience 5 state views. Manchester truly has it all. A high cleared vehicle is recommended as the last 1/2 mile has some high spots. For an example a forester or subaru would be no problem.
This experience will take you back to the simple times and an adventure that will be nature at its finest. For more information visit our new website: beartownvermont.com Welcome to Beartown and your new adventure!
This was the perfect place to get away. Surrounded by fields, woods, and mountains. Sunrises and sunsets were great. Fire pit was nice place to end the evening under the stars. We also enjoyed watching the dvd about the school bus cabin and then visiting it farther back in the woods.
The property was located in a very picturesque location wth beautiful views all around. We enjoyed the fireplace inside as well as the firepit outside. The country home had everything we needed.
This is a hidden gem. Off the grid location that allows you to fully disconnect from the daily hustle. The views are spectacular. The house has an old charm and was cabin-like cozy.
Beautiful Cabin! Read all the directions or a little confusion might ensue but would love to stay again. There was an issue with the smoke alarms location to the stove making it hard to cook but I think the owner will fix that.
Absolutely amazingly gorgeous property set in a
Green Mountain setting. A high clearance
AWD is a must have vehicle in order to go up this road.
Cozy with fireplace and base board heat.
My family enjoyed the breathtaking views of this property. The house is very secluded which we loved. Randy, the owner was very responsive to our needs during our stay. We canât wait to come again! We drive a Toyota Sienna so our low clearance vehicle had trouble making it up the road to the house.
We had a fabulous time. The views were breathtaking. It felt like paradise. The host was so kind and accommodating with any questions and requests that we had. The house was very well stocked and organized so we could find anything that we needed easily. We canât wait to come back again!
Really peaceful and remote. The house was fully stocked with everything that we could possibly need or want on an off-grid vacation. Beautiful property and amazing views. There's a short hike to a small waterfall and some really long hikes up the mountains. I would recommend a four wheel drive for the last stretch of the road leading to the property. We made it with a minivan, but it was touch and go.
As soon as we entered the gate onto the property we were in awwww. The most beautiful, serene setting.imaginable. Once we started to explore the property it one was 1 beautiful spot / surprise after another. We knew within the first few hours ( minutes actually) of our exploration we wanted to extend our stay, which we did. Thank you Randy!!!!! If you want to get away from it all, unplug , and just enjoy the beauty of Vermont this is the spot!!!!! We are already planning our next trip.
Our family has owned this property for 3 generations since te 1950s. We frequent this unique and secluded property so we don't rent it that much. It will be an experience you wont forget and please check out the reviews to help make your decision. We love the fact that others have an opportunity to explore this area and experience the fabulous views and solitude.
This house is on 60 acre parcel with 20 acres of open field which provide extraordinary 360 degree views with no houses in sight. We are surrounded by 2000 acres owned by Maple LLC and Vermont Land Trust which affords great privacy and an opportunity for exploring the many wood roads throughout. You should not be disappointed!
It is such a unique property with great views and no houses in sight. The outdoor fire pit with Adirondack chairs affords a magnificent view of Bear Mountain. A perfect way to relax, barbecue,or just read. Itâs a throwback in time.
