Great Cottage

We had an amazing weekend at the cottage. Our hosts were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend taking an afternoon to go on a hike and hit a brewery.

My fiancee and I wanted a quiet weekend away. We had a wonderful stay! The cottage had everything we needed. It was quiet and comfortable. Close enough to Asheville to enjoy a dinner out and everything we needed to cook a fabulous meal! Highly recommended we will return

Beautiful Mountain Cottage

We loved staying at this perfect little cottage. My husband and son enjoyed the game room, and i loved the kitchen and dishwasher. The owners were very helpful and attentive, and always responded when we reached out.

Best Host Ever

This was a quaint, isolated property which is just what we needed. The cottage had plenty of room and was set up so comfortably. The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and wanted, even giving us an extra nights stay. We would DEFINITELY stay here again, or stay at a property of this host’s any time!

The Grump: leaving too soon

There is facade, and then there is heart. This little gem was crafted from the heart, and it shows in many little sweet little details. The hosts were lovely, the space well-appointed, but the highlight was how gloriously quiet. Tree neighbors were tops!

Gossage family vacation

It was a wonderful stay! The hosts Patrick and Christy were very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. Our son unplugged the wifi and they came to the cabin to make sure everything was okay and made sure we had the WiFi up and running again. The cabin was adorable and there was plenty of room for our family of 6. Thank you again!

Amazing getaway!

Every detail of our stay was delightful, from the decor (please share the name of your interior designer!!) to the environment and surrounding mountainside. Our group particularly appreciated the personalized touches like the birthday card and welcome basket! Thank you so much for ensuring that our birthday celebrations were cozy, charming, and picturesque. We will absolutely return for future holidays and vacations.

Eclectically Wonderful

This place was amazing. The thought and creativity that went into making it a warm and inviting space was above and beyond! Hosts were kind, caring, prompt, and just all around wonderful! The kids loved the little surprises laid out for them in the kitchen and the space had so many interesting highlights. Will definitely be staying again! Thank you Christy and Patrick!

Family Vacay

We had a wonderful time at this cabin. We loved grilling out and sitting around the fire at night. The game room was a highlight for our family. We made a lot of lasting memories as a family this past weekend. My teenage boys said it felt like home and they didn’t want to leave. During the day we explored the surrounding towns. We went fishing one day and went up to sliding rock on another day.

Deer Bluff Cabin is pure magic. From the moment we walked in, we knew this wasn’t just a cabin—it was an experience. The decorations are unique and full of character, each little detail adding to the cozy charm. The bed? Quite possibly the comfiest I’ve ever slept in—it felt like being hugged by a cloud. And the shower! The water pressure was so perfect it turned an ordinary rinse into a full-on spa moment.But what really sets Deer Bluff apart is the quiet. Quiet upon quiet upon quiet. The kind of stillness that makes you breathe deeper, laugh louder, and actually rest.And the owners? Absolute gems. They did everything possible to make sure our stay was enjoyable, thoughtful, and memorable. It’s rare to find hosts who care this much, but they truly went above and beyond.If you’re looking for a place that’s whimsical, restful, and unforgettable, Deer Bluff Cabin is it. We can’t wait to come back!

It’s okay

While the property was nice I feel like that listing was inaccurate. The bathrooms should be listed as a 1 1/2 baths instead of 2. I also understand that the location is in the woods, but there were ants all over the kitchen. While the property is also listed as private, and there are no shared spaces between the properties the other properties’ chairs and fire pit look directly into the windows of this property. While the place was nice, our overall stay was just okay.

Expectations Greatly Exceeded

Our stay at the Deer Bluff cottage was phenomenal. The property was much nicer and more spacious than the pictures could have depicted, and they by no means sold it short to begin with. Everything we could have needed during our stay, save groceries and miscellaneous items was provided for us by our hosts. With thw property being so secluded and off of the beaten path (which is exactly what we wanted), this was of great convenience. The fact that our hosts were more than willing to have a direct line of communication in order to address any concerns we may have had or provide any assistance we may have needed only added to the incredible grandeur of our trip. I will stay at Deer Bluff every chance I get in the future, and be sure to recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Asheville area. A big "Thanks," and "Well done" to our hosts, the Laffertys.

It had its charms!

It was a cute place on the inside! The renovations and small details of decorations definitely added to its charm. The check in and out process was wonderful and the hosts were easy to get in touch with when needed. The Internet was a little spotty but may have been due to rain although no big storms came through during our stay. Also, the freezer is pretty small so keep that in mind for meal planning. Our biggest hiccup was the outside area directly around the cabin. Dead leaves from the previous Fall (or longer) were built up around the fire pit/picnic table pretty deep, making it unusable. Rotten corn hole boards were also propped up by the picnic table. The poison ivy/oak had also encroached on the hammock area and walkway to the hot tub. This probably isn't an issue during other seasons but during Summer, nature seems to take over the outside area. Overall, our kids really enjoyed all the inside activities and games!

Years after departing decades in Texas, we sold some inheritance there and purchased this property as both a legacy to our children and a gift of hospitality to others. We delight in being able to help people feel welcome and have spent innumerable days creating these spaces for others to enjoy.

Deer Bluff Cottage has room to stretch out, views to make you breathe deeply again, and quick access to everything Western North Carolina has to offer. The Cottage takes its name from its location on a high bluff where deer and other local fauna have found a hospitable relationship with the few humans around.
