Mardi Gras Week 2024
The house is a charming older home that the owner has put some sweat equity into fixing up. It's on the outskirts of the Oakleigh district which is a charming area of Mobile. We did have some snaffoos with our visit however. We did't receive a check-in email. At 6pm on checkin day, I contacted VRBO and got the owners phone number to get the check-in code. During that call, I discovered the house was double booked, two reservations made on different platforms. Fortunately, my family and I were able to stay in this house. The owner was very sorry about the confusion and worked hard and fast to make accomodations for the other family.
The house itself is not exactly as described in the write up. There are only 3 bedrooms, NOT 4. One king, one with 2 queen beds, and one with 2 full beds. There is also a single bed in the hall at the top of the stairs, but there is no privacy to that area and it's definately not a bedroom. For bathrooms, there are two bathrooms inside. Note - the second bathroom does not have a shower, only a claw foot tub for taking a bath, not shower. That was tough for my family because we are all showerers. The third bathroom probably shouldn't be included in the count - it is a toilet on the back porch (not inside the house) in a broom closet space with no sink. If you dare to use the outside toilet, you can't shut the door for privacy because the toilet is very close to the door when shut. Also, there is safety issue with one of the back doors.
