Delightful and spacious New-Town Flat. Centrally located flat within 5-minutes walk of the historic village of Stockbridge, 15 minutes from Waverly Train Station, close to shops and restaurants, and a short walk to the Royal Botanical Gardens. Bright and airy, this flat is a classic New-Town historical building, with modern design and a cozy feel.
Perfect for families and couples, this two-bedroom flat is large enough to accomodate a group or family looking to explore Edinburgh. Garden access.
This property had everything we needed for the last couple nights in Edinburgh. It was close to the Royal Botanical Gardens. The beds were clean and comfortable. The unit was spacious and we enjoyed the large eat-in kitchen. Check-in was easy and Lawrie was easy to communicate with.
My family of 4 adults enjoyed staying at the Bright and spacious Georgian flat in New Town. The area all around the flat has many restaurants, coffee shops, shops, and pubs. The wine bar below the flat is a great place to go! The Stockbridge neighborhood, a short walk away, has some great stores and places to eat. It is about a 20-minute walk to the many restaurants and shops of New Town and about a 30-minute walk to the Royal Mile and Old Town. The flat itself is very spacious and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable, and the shower has plenty of hot water! Lawrie was quick to respond to my inquiries before and after our arrival, and very pleasant to communicate with. I just want to mention that the flat is located up about 3 flights of stairs. This was not an issue for us, but just keep that in mind if bringing heavy luggage. We were very pleased with the flat!
It says a lot about a VRBO property when, after booking it for two stays with a week in between, you are looking forward to getting BACK to it. The description of Lawrie's place doesn't do it justice. It is HUGE - as in massive ceilings, large rooms, big kitchen and super airy and sunny space. It's in an easily accessible, quiet neighborhood, but close to the hub-bub of the Mound and downtown Edinburgh. Busses are easily accessible, as is the ready volume of Uber rides. Niceties we greatly appreciated included the large step-in shower, the full kitchen (which we will use more the next time we stay), and the 10-steps access to places like great little coffee shops, a convenience store and a pharmacy. Most impressively, Lawrie was replying to queries within minutes for everything from minor needs while at his place, to other more pressing issues when my wife needed a referral to a local GP. Needless to say, we now have a home-away-from-home in Edinburgh when we next return.
The location is great! Everything was well stocked. The unit was clean and had a great selection of books. The big windows allow lots of natural light and a good breeze (which you will need in the summer as the unit does get quite warm and there not air con that I found).
The unit is on a place with lots of bars and eateries which is wonderful, but also comes with lots of extra noise. I would NOT recommend if you have small children (mine is older so it was okay) or if you are a light sleeper. The host was responsive and helpful and kind. The garden in the back is beautiful. The wine bar downstairs is fantastic. The street was being worked on while we were there which meant lots of noise well into the early hours of the morning (1-3am was the norm) but looks like they are finishing up so hopefully that wonât be an issue for long.
Can walk very easily to the city centre and castle. Lots of shops and easy access to walk along the water.
Would stay again, but maybe with a set of ear plugs.
