It was clean, comfortable and a great location, easy to access. A convenient location for touring all the sites of Edinburgh. We walked from the Palace to Holyrood House to the botanical gardens back thru Deans village and ALL in between!!!!
The flat on Lawnmarket was excellent for a small family, with a great view and incredible location in Old Town. The property manager was very clear and communicative before the stay. We'd certainly stay there again!
Spacious rooms, great window seats to take in the sights & people on the streets below. Well equipped for all of our needs. The owner was very nice, gracious & quick to respond to our questions while planning the trip & arriving. We greatly appreciated that. The views of the St Giles Cathedral while at the window seats, is a memory we will carry with us forever & just amazing at night. Perfect location for walking everywhere & bus stops, pubs, eateries, shops, all close by. We hope to return one day.
The apartment and location were great. The information on the apartment should include that it is on the second floor and no elevator. Also should have been advised about construction on the street.
This flat was spectacular! The location was phenomenal, in the heart of old town. Flat was well stocked, extremely clean, Derek and his team had thought of everything. There were a lot of resources and ideas for places to eat and things to do in the city. I cannot recommend this place enough to those who want to be in the middle of it all within walking distance of all the main tourist attractions.
This apartment is in a perfect location. Itâs not far from the train station and itâs in the middle of everything you want to see while in Edinburgh. We are two 65 couples traveling around Scotland for two weeks. Derekâs flat had everything we needed. I wouldnât hesitate to stay there again!
Booking this place would first be due to itâs location.Included nice little touches by the owners (cookies, tea, coffee).Bed comfort is OK, but beware of the sharp wood corners.Wifi does not reach the far end bedroom.Bathroom is functional but quite cramped. It is located next to a popular bar, so know that it will be a loud street late in the evening on Friday and Saturday.
Right on the Royal Mile! About a block away from Edinburgh Castle, made our walking easy even in the rain. Lots of touristy shopping right out the door. Fun bar on the corner with live music on Monday night.Would stay here again.
The property was right in the middle of everythingâŠshops, pubs, restaurants, Edinburgh Castle, churches. We walked everywhere. It was a little noisy until midnight if the windows were open, but not overwhelming. The beds were comfy, hot water for the shower was plentiful, milk in the fridge for tea/coffee, and plenty of tea, coffee, sugar for our stay. A comfortable stay for four adults.
The location was pretty amazing. Right in the midst of the Royal Mile. The flat was simple and nice. Truly the location is the draw. Edinburgh was our last stop after a week plus of driving through Scotland. Much of our trip was cold and wet. But Edinburgh was sunny and pretty hot. The flat has no air conditioning or fans. A breeze can come in through the windows, but it's still pretty hot. We also has road construction right out front. Which was fine, but with open windows, it got pretty loud. Again, a nice location for us to be able to walk out into the thick of things. We parked our car and didn't take it out again until we left.
We came from Michigan, USA so the temperatures were very similar. Derek was awesome with replies to any question I had prior to leaving home as well as during our stay. Wonderful host. Clean, warm and spacious. We enjoyed being in Old Town and so close to everything.
If you want to be at the heart of it all in Edinburgh at the busiest time and within a short walk to the Military tatoo at the castle then this is your place. You can look down on lawnmarket to performers and thousands of people. Location is a 5 but youâll also hear the drunks empty the bars at 2AM. Well known bar 2 doors down. Had a problem at check in. I requested a slightly early entry and was informed it was ready. I open code to the key lock and no key! I slightly panicked thinking someone on the street may have gotten the code and was in the appt. At same time a renter or owner entered and I followed him up. I knocked on the appt door and the man cleaning it came to door and said he was done. He gave me a key that was to be in the lock. He also was not really completed as he had not swept the main rug or floor in the main room. The bathroom and bedrooms were clean. I told Derek what had happened and he apologized for the mix up but I was about 20 min early to the check in time so I wrote off the mix up and we enjoyed our stay. Derek was kind and on top of all communication Given the prime time of our visit I felt the cost was higher than I would normally pay. Oh.. one more think. Donât waste your money at The Witchery just a block away close to castle. Took my wife there for her birthday. Waste of money. Highly overrated and way too pricey. Had to send a filet back and the table service by our waitress was the worst. She went on a half hour break in the
Pillowstops is run my husband and wife team Catherine and Derek Gibb.
"As a family we have used self catering properties around the world for our own holidays and know how important it is to make sure that when you arrive you are not disappointed with your choice of holiday accommodation. The two main areas of disappointment that we have found are location and standard!
The apartments that we offer are situated in Edinburgh's no 1 historic tourist street being the Royal Mile and Grassmarket areas. Our apartments are maintained and cleaned to a very high standard exactly as we would want to find ourselves when going on holiday.
