We loved our stay at Casa Pura Vida. We had two adult couples and the space was just right. We heard howler monkeys in the mornings and evenings. Saw cappuchin monkeys, coties and other wildlife daily. We enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Monkey Hideout for sleeping and the outdoor bathroom was wonderful. We ate all of our dinners on the porch, cooking fresh fish that we picked up every day.

We feel a bit like family coming home to Casa Pura Vida, beginning with the warm welcome and personal service we received from Jhonnathan and Ismael. The property is amazing thanks to the hard work of Ivan that cares for the grounds, the staff at You Get Here and updates we noticed this year. We've stayed here for many years and it's still one of the best places for spotting wildlife. This year we had multiple morning visits from a curious tayra as well as capuchins, howlers, pizote, agouti and a quick glimpse of a kinkajou or martilla and of course many birds. It's amazing that with all of the construction around the area that this property has remained connected to the wildlife. I'm still recovering from the sadness of leaving but until next year- Pura Vida!

Costa Rica visit

Wonderful location on a property well maintained garden and ample birds and wildlife. The walk to beach and it’s access was not fully explained though and that it is not really for swimming.

Hi Lynn Thank you for your review. Certainly, this beautiful property has well-maintained gardens and a lot of wildlife is always surrounding the property. At check-in, we fully explained the beach location and how to get there. Also, we have told you the best time to go there to have the possibility to swim. We visit this beach regularly and we swim always, what you need to make sure is going at the right time as advised at check-in time.

Wonderful Honeymoon!

We chose this location for the majority of our honeymoon trip in Costa Rica. We were looking for privacy and extravigance, mixed with nature and a local vibe. This place checked all of the boxes and then some! It was as if we had rented our own private botanical garden. Beautiful foliage and tons of wildlife including monkeys, toucans, and Scarlett macaws. We had a rental vehicle (4x4) so access to Uvita, Dominical, and all the nearby beaches was super easy. The hosts were very kind and responsive. This made check in, check out, and booking excursions a breeze! We would absolutely stay here again!

A Little Piece of Paradise

My family loved this home. The outdoor space was absolutely amazing, and we loved the pool, and all of the wildlife we were able to see while just lounging on the patio or hanging out by the casita. Both the casita and the main casa were beautiful as well, and we loved having an outdoor bathroom to shower off after the beach. This house was perfect for anyone who loves nature and wants to be immersed in the beauty of Costa Rica. Make sure to have a 4x4 and be prepared to be woken up to the sounds of birds tapping on the windows and monkeys in the trees.

Another week in Paradise

This was our second time staying at this property and it was just as fantastic as the first (hence why we came back). If you want to get away from the world for a while and immerse yourself in one of the most stunning landscapes then this is the spot. The house is fantastic and speaks to the traditional casita vibes you’re likely looking for if you’ve already stumbled upon the Dominical area. The flora of the property is next to none, I’d compare it to some of the finer botanical gardens in the world. The area is easy to get to and a short drive from town but far enough to make you feel the privacy your looking for. The area is very safe and great for surfing. The only thing we wish is that we stayed longer.

The property is beautiful. The hause has some issues 1-very dark kitchen and living room,no enough lights on it.2- no curtains or blinds in the bedrooms so… you can’t sleep late 3- The monkey room is very far away from the main house 4-the Internet is not working properly and in the monkey room doesn’t exist.

Always hard to leave!

We've been staying at Casa Pura Vida for years and love it more every time. We stayed for almost 5 weeks and enjoyed every minute! The wildlife we get to see on the property is one of our favorite things and I'm happy to say that we were not disappointed...seeing howler and capuchin monkeys, agoutis, coatis, so many birds and even a jaguarundi and kinkajou this year. The You Get Here property management company is terrific and any minor issues that came up were immediately remedied. They are always a true pleasure to work with! We had friends stay for part of the time who had never been to Costa Rica before and they're already hoping they can come back next year and get to stay here again. It's never enough time and we can't wait to be back!

Paradise: we’ll be back!

This house/property was amazing! The ocean view was stunning and we loved watching the toucans and walking the property with all the little benches and spots to sit and absorb it all! The kitchen was well-stocked, house clean and the pool/hammocks were a huge hit! We did walk down to the beach in front of the property (about a 12-minute walk with my crew) and the beach was gorgeous!! We also drove a quick 5-7 minutes and spent the day surfing/soaking at Playa Hermosa! My favorite was the Monkey house and the screen windows, powerful ceiling/stationary fans and outdoor bathroom! Complete with bird and howler monkey background music! I couldn’t believe we got to stay here for our vacation! It truly is just as beautiful and more so than the pictures! And easy communication when we had questions and arranged for arrival/departure! Thank you for sharing this home! We hope to return!!!

Amazing! Casa Pura Vida! Stay here, you won't be disappointed!

This is the perfect property to reconnect, recharge, relax, and experience life to its fullest! Our family loved exploring the property, enjoying the views, listening to and seeing all the wildlife, and chilling by the pool or on the beautiful deck. The Monkey Hideout was so cool! Felt like you were living in the jungle. Howler Monkeys, in the morning, get your day started! The house has all that you need for your stay. Full kitchen, laundry, and plenty of amenities to make the stay comfortable. Located between two amazing laid-back beach towns. Uvita and Dominical. Both spectacular. Close to great shopping and restaurants/bars. The supermarket is just up the road. Perfect for small families or 3 couples. Our two kids (18yr+) stayed in the main house and my wife and I stayed in the Monkey Hideout. The team at Yougethere was great to work with. They pointed us in the right direction for activities and made the check-in/out process easy. Pura Vida! We'll be back!

Cass Pura Vida is AMAZING

We had a WONDERFUL week long stay at Casa Pura Vida. A family of 5 with 3 teenagers.Location was fantastic- midway between (10min) Uvita and Dominical. Easy access to both towns with our rental car but quiet and isolated jungle setting. Woke to the sounds of howler monkeys every morning. Lots of bird sightings including toucans. The property was immaculate. Very unique style. The main house and monkey hideout were separated by a 50-100m walk through the pool area. Monkey villa had screened/barred open windows and an open bathroom/shower. The adults stayed here while the kids had the run of the house where there was ample room, sleeping areas. We loved the proximity of playa Hermosa (5min) where we enjoyed daily surfing (lessons and board rentals arranged at the beach itself), and beautify playa Dominicalita.Having our own place allowed for making our own simple breakfasts while we ate out at smaller nearby restaurants/sodas for most lunches and dinners. Property managers and staff were so helpful with checkin and quickly replied to any questions we had throughout our stay.We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Casa Pura Vida!

Gorgeous, jungle villa with abundant wildlife and distant views of ocean.

This Villa is absolutely stunning, and “paradise” is indeed a perfect descriptor for the property. We spent our mornings on the spacious front porch, enjoying our Costa Rican coffee and looking for wildlife, and our evenings on the same porch, watching lighting storms move across the coast. The pool is covered and refreshing when the rain kept us from the beach and the sightings of monkeys and toucans were an absolute thrill. The hosting staff from You Get Here properties were extremely attentive and helped made sure we were comfortable during our stay. They even went out and bought us a new blender so we could make homemade pina coladas. We did experience a power outage (which we were prepared for) and a loss of water (which we were not prepared for) for 15 hours, but the staff worked hard to get everything back up and running again. The biggest con to this property was actually the location. The map on VRBO shows that the property is walking distance to Dominical and the listing title says the property is walking distance to the beach. It is actually a 10 minute drive to Dominical (which I realize now is described further down in the listing details) and walking to the beach would require a pretty intense/steep hike and crossing a very busy highway. Another ac unit downstairs would make the common area comfortable, but other than those things, the stay was amazing!

Hi Stacy We appreciate your positive review regarding the property. As you indicate we take the truthfulness of our words very seriously in describing and placing the listing on the booking platforms. What you read in the description is what you will find when you arrive at the house or even better. We were very surprised by your comment about the location of the property on the map. We have been renting this property for more that 14 years. The location pin was originally in the correct location (the same location as it is now) After your review we checked the VRBO listing and we saw that the property was located in a general area (Dominical), which was not correct. We have taken this issue with the utmost seriousness. We contacted the VRBO platform to ask for explanation of how VRBO moved the location Pin. VRBO finally admitted it was their error in their system and have now correct the pin location to the correct location. We apologize for this VRBO error, fortunately the property is in the exact location now.

Good stay

Costa Rica is amazing country and we’ve been 4 times now. This year we stayed at this house which is between Dominical and Uvita. Both about 10 min drive away for stores and restaurants and such. House is authentic and rustic, despite being outdated it has comfortable setting and all necessities. During rain season it gets hot and damp. ACs in bedrooms are life saving. We had 2 year old toddler and it was a bit stressful around patio and stairs but we managed to keep him safe.main house has 2 bedrooms upstairs with AC and one bathroom. Casita on premises doesn’t have AC and it’s basically open air with window nets so it does get dampy and very dark inside. Feels like cave, interesting experience. Location is good but not great. I would stay closer to towns. Biggest inconvenience during stay was unstable and inconsistent internet, basically it worked only 20-30 min a day, random times so caused us to struggle book tours via WhatsApp and look up restaurants etc because there is no cell signal at the house for data roaming. It rained every day so there was power outage too and maybe it messed up internet quality. We also expected more wildlife but only saw toucans twice and one monkey during whole week. When we stayed in Manuel Antonio, we had toucans and monkeys every day for hours so it was fun for kids to watch nature at play. I think Manuel Antonio area is better with kids. Overall, good stay and nice property managers

Wonderful Experience

Although the property was amazing with monkeys, beautiful vegetation, flowers and Toucans abundant. The VRBO could use some work. Very firm beds, leaky faucets, oven was difficult to use so we used the toaster oven. The grill needs replaced. The lock on the gate was very difficult to lock/unlock. The washer and dryer are very old. We mentioned this to the property manager, and he was receptive. Again, the grounds were amazing, the pool was awesome, it was quite an experience.

Beautiful property for our Christmas in CR

We really enjoyed our 2 week stay. We cooked dinner almost every night and ate out on the porch. Kitchen is very well stocked. The property is absolutely beautiful, we saw Monkeys almost every day and heard the howlers every morning. The pool area was so nice to relax by and cool off in. We had 5 people in our family, 3 people stayed in the main house and my husband and I stayed in the monkey house. Plenty of space for everyone. My one complaint is that the monkey house wasn’t very clean and the screens on the windows are ripped so there we A LOT of bugs in the house, and in our bed. We got bit up pretty badly. We only had cleaners sent to the property once in the 2 weeks we stayed, so if you are used to daily cleaning at vacation rentals in Mexico… be forewarned. You can’t flush toilet paper at the property so you will have to deal with baskets full of poop paper. So, other than the cleanliness and rips in the screens, we loved the place.

We are happy you have enjoyed your stay and gave a 5-star rating. Your description of the beauty of the house and what you can find on the property is truly appreciated. With all due respect, we do not agree and we cannot accept is the comment about cleaning. The house was cleaned, disinfected, and checked prior to your arrival, check-in & we showed you everything working, clean and we gave you all instructions about the property and we made sure everything was as we advertised. We also don’t accept the comment regarding the screens. All the screens in the property were all correctly fitted at Check-In Because of the Covid-19 we have strict protocols about cleaning, we offer a cleaning every week but the client needs to be out of the property because we do not want to put at risk any of our clients or our staff at. You ask for a second cleaning and we were able to do it but you said that is not necessary and that's why we offer you only one cleaning. In Costa Rica you cannot flush toilet paper in septic tanks because the drains can be obstructed, we explained this at check-in and we told you where to put the toilet paper and also where to put all the trash to avoid having a lot of this in the trash bins. Thank you for booking with us.

Would Stay Again!

We had a great experience and Jonathan was awesome in getting us settled in, but also helped with fishing and other other events. He was quick to respond to the serval inquiries we had that really helped to make our stay the best. He was very professional. We did have an AC issue, but he had this resolved early the next day. This house is nicely landscaped and has a great sitting area and is the best equipped rental I have experienced. The kitchen had every item needed to cook, plus more. The was grill was nice and the BBQ utensils were provided which was great. The property is close to the main road, but far enough away to provide privacy and closeness to nature. We saw monkeys, several birds, frogs, toad, toucans, Macaws fly over, abut 20 miniature pigs (Peccaries), plus there is a residential Agouti (large rodent) that can be seen around the property , plus so much more. We loved the property and have a lot of positives and would definitely stay again, but here are some recommendations: - It does rain, so an umbrella would be great, when running between houses. - The majority of the property is tilled, so shoes are not needed, unless going from pool to "Monkey House" which has sharp rocks on the walkway. It would be great to have tile or stepping stones so shoes are not needed. Be aware that Monkey House is more like glorified camping, since it does not have AC or windows (only screens). I personally enjoyed this and the fan provided was more then sufficient to stay cool. The one negative about this property is the toilet paper warning posted, which states that al paper products, including toilet paper needs to go into the trash can provided and not down the toilet, which is an odd ordeal and can result in a smelly situation. If the plumbing is so sensitive, then why not provide paper similar to what is used in RV's? Note: the power does go out daily. Mostly it just flickers but we did experience about a 4 hour outage one day. This likely typical for the area, especially during the rainy season, so don't bother resetting the digital clocks. :)

Wonderful property

This is a wonderful property some minor inconveniences. The monkey house only has a limited amount of warm (not hot) water and that is only when it's on a trickle. Otherwise cold water if you want full flow. So not good for washing hair, etc. Some other minor inconveniences but overall a great place. Our biggest complaint is the lack of communication during check in. Ismael seemed to be in a bit of a rush. Did not mention important things like a 2nd driveway to monkey house which would have saved us from lugging 50 pound bags up there, WiFi in monkey house had an on/off switch which we FINALLY figured out on our 3rd day. Those things would have been very helpful to know up front, along with some other things. 5 extra minutes of his time would have saved us some hassles. Again, we did enjoy this house very much. The property manager just needs some polishing.

Casa Pura Vida was the perfect place to rest and unwind after a day of adventuring in Costa Rica. Night sky filled with stars and sounds of nature paradise. Already wishing I was back there. December 20-27 stay

A few critical things did not work and did not get repaired during our stay to include the hammock, the lights for the pool (could not use the pool in the evening), the toaster oven. Er had issues with the downstairs bathroom with a cracked bolt that created leaks.....it took a few hours of water leaking on the floor and we could turn off the water because the room where the water main is located was locked - that needs to be handled better. We liked Manuael who greeted us and I thought he would be our contact person but he was not.

Hi William Thank you for your message and your comments. There were two groups within your groups stay, we had the pleasure to check-out the second group from the property (as you had already departed) and this group confirmed how they enjoyed their stay at Casa Pura Vida and how everything was great. With this feedback from the other group we are surprised at your negative comments. We work very hard to have the houses we manage in optimal condition for our valued guests. Everything in & on the house & property are tested and all are in good working order before your arrival. 1 )The Hammock is adjustable for varying sizes & weighs and you will recall our staff showed you how to adjust the hammock. 2) The lights around the pool fuse had blown whilst you were in the property and when you reported this it was repaired within the hour. 3) The toaster unfortunately broke when you were at the house but was replaced the same day with a new toaster. 4) The toilet was in perfect working order at your check-in. We always inform guests not to flush toilet paper down the toilet & to use the receptacle provided. When the toilet was unblocked we found toilet paper in the toilet and that was the cause of the blockage & the newly cracked bold was also replaced. This was all done within 1.5 hours from the time you reported the leak. 5) We have staff that specifically meet our guests and escort them to the property and show the guest everything is working, that is their specific job. The company contacts are all in the guest book and on display in the house as well as you being told this by the check-in personnel. We wish you a Happy 2021

Beautiful property, had a few problems with water cooler leaking, we had to supply our own drinking water for the coolers as well, which doesn't seem right. Blue tooth speaker didn't work, no hot water in the Monkey House for the 9 days we were there.
