We are sorry that we didn't meet this guest's expectations. We have been running a successful business for many years with very few complaints. If we are told that something is amiss, we correct it ASAP. Though we do our best, sometimes our best efforts aren't enough. My husband thought she was lost coming through Cottonwood to Sedona, and only tried to help her with directions. For her computer issue, the guest said she was "technically challenged", so he set-up her computer WiFi for her. As far as cleanliness, we pride ourselves on maintaining a very high standard. We had a guest leaving the day she arrived so we did not check the bathroom drawers and cabinets. It was unfortunate that she found what she found. Most folks appreciate shampoos and other toiletries in case they forgot to bring them. We will be buying new towels and pillows now that we know. The pillows on the Master Bed are "My Pillows" as seen on TV. One returning guest said she loves the pillows! Living by the golf course has some disadvantages, especially in the summer, but no other guests have ever complained. We did apologize. For the gas BBQ, one just needs to turn on the LP tank valve. We do not like to bother our guests and we give them their privacy. However, we do like to meet them initially if possible. Per our Rental Policy, we provide ALL initial paper products and liquid soaps and detergents, and then it is up to the guest to provide more for longer stays. Some vacation rentals supply NO household necessities. It is healthier not to have the WiFi on while sleeping, so we have it on a timer. We do adjust the hours, at the guest's request. Their are no indoor plants, just outdoor. It's in our binder if the guest doesn't mind taking the hose and watering 4 little plants right outside the back door if we are traveling in the hot weather. The wood-burning fireplace works just fine, but a past guest did not know how to use it properly, so we closed it off. It was the month of May that this guest stayed! The fireplace will be available for the cooler weather. The one smoke alarm was sensitive so we temporarily disconnected it. There was a second smoke alarm, and a new exhaust fan now. All of the guest's issues could have been addressed, but she was uncommunicative. We would have given her anything she requested. However, the prior guest wrote a wonderful review and said that the beds were comfortable. We are grateful for the suggestions regardless.

Since we are located close to Bell Rock and the back end of Cathedral there are many trails available on foot or on bike. When you return we will tell you about some other trails. There's always a first time for everything! We take great pride in running a comfortable and clean home-away-from-home for our guests. We have always had great reviews for many years until now. We have many returning guests too. The reasons that we withheld half of the security was because of the following: The guests lit nightly fires in 80 degree weather while running the A/C at the same time resulting in smoke damage throughout the house.. We rented an ozone machine and ran it twice to neutralize the heavy smoke odor. What they did was not in accordance with the house rules to simply open the windows and air the smoke out. This was the most damaging issue. There were wood chips and firewood debris left all around the fireplace. Our housekeeper said that she will attest to the unsatisfactory condition that the guests left the condo in. They also left dishes in the sink. Every towel in the house was used in less than a week by only two guests. Extra time and work. We only ask to remove muddy shoes after hiking. Because of the light-colored carpet we don't prefer luggage rolled over it. We supply free and clear detergent and bleach alternative for our septic, as well as safe alternatives to dryer sheets which contain formaldehyde. We care for our guests and for our planet! We truly felt that this was generous not to keep the full damage deposit. We have rarely withheld any part of our guest's damage deposit in all these years!
