À propos de cet hébergement
Lexington Camp – A Warm, Welcoming Cabin in the Heart of Pine Creek Valley
Lexington Camp blends historic character with modern comfort in a way that reflects the spirit of the Pine Creek Valley. The original portion of the cabin, built in 1901, now serves as the kitchen and dining area and features a beautifully refinished ceiling that exposes the original hand‑cut rafters. In the early 1990s, the cabin was expanded to over 2,000 square feet, creating a spacious layout with generous living areas where guests can unwind after a full day of exploring the gorge.
The cabin offers a large, comfortable living room, a fully equipped kitchen with two full‑size refrigerators, a 55” Smart TV with Roku, high‑speed fiber‑optic internet, and a modern central heating and air‑conditioning system. Upstairs, a wide bunkhouse‑style sleeping area provides multiple beds, perfect for up to 8 guests.
The Pine Creek Rail Trail—named Pennsylvania’s 2026 Trail of the Year—approximately ¾ mile from the cabin at the Rattlesnake Rock Access, gives guests effortless access to one of the most scenic biking, hiking, fishing, and kayaking corridors in the state, including the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.
Location
The Lexington Camp sits in the heart of Pine Creek Valley, close to the central–southern section of the Pine Creek Rail Trail and surrounded by some of Pennsylvania’s most iconic outdoor destinations. The Blackwell area provides easy access to trailheads, fishing spots, scenic overlooks, and small town charm.
Wildlife
The area around Lexington Camp has a rich and lively wildlife presence. Deer and wild turkeys may wander through the property as part of their daily routines, and smaller wildlife—squirrels, chipmunks, and backyard birds—are common around the trees and yard. Black bears move through this part of the valley, and foxes, raccoons, and opossums occasionally cross the woods and open spaces.
Along Pine Creek, bald eagles and ospreys may be seen gliding overhead or perched in the trees that line the water. Great blue herons, kingfishers, and a variety of songbirds add to the sense of being surrounded by nature, especially in the early morning and late afternoon.
In the evenings, guests may hear coyotes calling from the ridges and Whip‑poor‑wills echoing from the treeline, adding to the valley’s quiet nighttime rhythm. Timber rattlesnakes are part of the broader ecosystem and generally keep to themselves when given space.
These moments of wildlife activity bring a gentle calm to the valley.
