If you love Architecture in a town thatâs being revitalized this is the place for you. Itâs a work in progress. So many beautiful Victorian buildings. Lots of things to do in the area. Lots of small towns and historical places to visit. We had a great time, ages 3 months to 74 years old. Plenty of room for 13 people.
This is an absolutely incredible and luxurious mansion! There is no cooler place to stay! Every room is filled with discovery and wonder! I ran a writer's retreat here for my second year in a row and everyone was blown away by the place! There is nowhere else quite like it and the hosts do amazing upkeep and I am so grateful we got to experience this incredible place again!
The owners are super easy to work with. Communication was fantastic. Its a charming old house. Its got quirks for sure, but we loved it. Id stay again just to see how they are restoring it!
New York to visit Jehovahâs Witnesses Headquarters
We loved our stay. Plenty of room for family group on 3rd floor with their own bathroom. Second family group very comfortable on 2nd floor. We were able to cook meals and spent the evenings playing cards and board games. House is old and drafty but such character! I highly recommend the property.
The house was very nice & historic as advertised. I never had to contact the property manager but when I did contact the owners, I got an immediate reply. We didnât realize there wasnât âon siteâ parking, just street parking but not really an issue. The only thing I had an issue with was the heat, we were so cold in there. However, I live in FL so if itâs under 75, Iâm freezing! We didnât bother calling the owner, not a big deal.
We had 10 people stay at this property prior to dropping our kiddo off at USMA for R-Day and we had more than enough room. Home is 20 minutes to USMA.
We felt like we kept finding bedrooms. It is a historic house and this means ithas a lot of character which made the stay more fun than a normal home or hotel room. Read the owners descriptions as they describe the unique characteristics perfectly. We all felt safe at the property and were in and out of the property at various hours of the day. Neighbors were friendly as well.
There are plenty of great restaurants/bars within 5 minutes of the home.
There is plenty of space, the kitchen is well stocked for any cooking desires, the beds were all comfortable, and we always find a washer/dryer to be a huge plus.
Will definitely try to stay here again!
There are some things to know.
Pros: the house itself was great. It was large enough for our family of 9 to have space. The house is unique which drove lots of laughs and conversation.
Con: Most of the city, including nearby streets felt unsafe. We did not feel comfortable walking to restaurants.
I was torn on writing this review as the house and accommodations worked well for our needs. However, there are things I wish I knew prior to hitting the cancellation deadline. There are what appear to be multiple BB bullet holes in the front door and front window. Some other windows appear to be âsecuredâ with plexiglass and a bar. While there, two detectives asked for video surveillance as there had been shots fired the next block over. We also saw teens who appeared to have a gun walking by mid afternoon on a Sunday.
The home is great, not over-the-top, but met our needs. I just wouldnât recommend the area unless you have a purpose to be there.
I was running a writers retreat and we could not have found a cooler more literary looking place to be! The amount of rooms and uniqueness to each room was absolutely insane! There were rooms for days and each one had such uniqueness and interesting architecture and decore. The kitchen was also a beautiful full space with tons of living room space as well. We absolutely loved our stay and cant say enough good things about it! Definitely a great spot for groups!
Hello! My husband and I work in the entertainment industry. We moved upstate from NYC and fell in love with renovating old houses. We've enjoyed becoming SuperHosts on Airbnb since 2017 while hosting guests in between our other projects. We've just signed up for VRBO and we're looking forward to hosting you!
Just a 60 minute drive from Manhattan. There is also a ferry to the MTA Metro North "Beacon" stop, which is just an hour and 15 minutes to 125th Harlem in NYC or 1 hour and 30 minutes to Grand Central Station in NYC. Uber and Lyft are newly in the area. There are many airports nearby, including Stewart International Airport with many great deals direct to and from Europe!
Newburgh is undergoing a major revitalization. It is the home of George Washington's Headquarters from where he fought and won the Revolutionary War. It is also the most architecturally and historically significant contiguous city in the United States. There is so much to see and do here in one of the most beautiful bends of the Hudson river. Beacon is a ferry or short 10 minute drive/uber ride across the river. West Point Academy is a 25 minute drive. Storm King Sculpture park is about a 15 minutes drive. Dia:Beacon is a 12 minute drive, just across the river. We will consider pets on a case by case basis. Please send me a note about who you are and what you intend to use the space for and I will get back to you quickly with my response.
