Check in was odd. She finally put keys under the matwhich leaves you wondering until the last minute.Front deck was a mess of tree stuff, the front yard has at least 30 varmint holes so outside is not available except after my wife cleaned the front porch off you could sit out there. The inside is quit nice big L/R big Kit. and big M/B.Small sitting room/bedroom? maybe if you had one child.I didnât realize it was a duplex (my fault) and I donât like noise coming between units so bad pick on my part.My other noise complaint is all the neighborhood yapping dogs included is the managers dog on property.Location, cleanliness inside, and its well stocked.
We felt so at home in this historical cottage. The house was so inviting with all the charming details that are one of a kind. We loved sitting by the fireplace and reading our books. It is centrally located and easy walking distance to shopping, downtown, and the ocean. It is also very easy to access the main highway if you need to go to another area. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood that has large mature trees, and the redwoods that were in our yard. Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The property manager, Lisa, was so accommodating and helpful with any of our questions. She has so much expertise about the area. We would highly recommend staying at this rental!
We loved staying here! It was the perfect short-term rental for us. We stayed about 2 months while transitioning into our permanent rental. Lisa is wonderful and accommodating. There is a park nearby and the location is so close to downtown and very convenient. Itâs an older house but modernized so well and very comfortable. It felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend!
Close to town and we road our bikes to the Monterey Jazz Festival (only a 15-minute ride). Nice little park nearby and the neighborhood was very cool (and quiet). The cottage was tastefully decorated with beautiful art, and there was a good vibe throughout the spacious accommodations. Very clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The porch out front makes for a good place to read/work/write as the sun rises in the morning (and there are tall redwood trees in the corner of the yard.) Would highly recommend.
This is a stunning place to stay in Monterey, which provides comfort and luxury.
Located a few minutes drive (or 30 min walk) from central Monterey, itâs the ideal base to explore the area.
The property itself is beautiful, with thoughtful touches of decor. We really looked forward to returning âhomeâ after busy days. Everything is catered for, furnishings are lovely. We were wowed upon check in , even though the pictures match the property, in fact they probably donât do it justice.
We spent 3 weeks travelling through California, at six different properties and this was our favourite by far!
In Monterey for car week - lucky to have found this place. Was not perfect for two adult couples but we made it work comfortably. This would be a fantastic place for families. It was nicely appointed and well located in a nice neighborhood to walk and explore and central to everything we were doing for the week. I highly recommend.
The house is very unique, but in a lovely way. It is clean, spacious and very well equipped. We stayed there as a family and the kids loved their room, the general space and the garden.
Communication with Lisa was great and quick. Also, she had good suggestions on what to visit during the stay. The house is located just a short drive from Highway1, FishermanÂŽs Wharf and the Monterey Aquarium.
There are minor suggestions on what could have been better:
- The bed in the parentÂŽs bedroom was very (like, really) high. Few matresses would have suited us more.
- The terrace had many spiderwebs.
- The window in the ground floor bathroom didnÂŽt work properly.
We really enjoyed our stay in this cosy place and would book it again.
This place was such a delight. We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable and tastefully decorated home. Fantastic location, lovely neighborhood, comfortable bed with all the amenities. Would definitely come back. Perfect place to relax and unwind
Since we lived in Monterey for 20 years, until 16 years ago, we knew the kinds of neighborhoods and where we wanted to "base" our 50th Anniversary family vacation. An erstwhile artist's cottage was exactly the vibe that we wanted. The specious kitchen and spacious great room with a casual yet tasteful ambience was perfect.
I rode my eBike to town or places within a few minutes, though I would have hated it if I had to peddle "up" the steep street (though only 3 blocks of it). But an eBike made it fun. (I'm legally blind, so I have to use such modes of transpiration or be trapped to the whims of a sullen family member?) (g)
We chose this because it was a few blocks from town and pet friendly. It was PERFECT for my son's dog.
The manager was next door and very friendly and helpful.
The cottage was perfect for my family! Plenty of space for my husband, myself and our two daughters! Close to everything, great amenities, and quiet neighborhood! My husband and I loved sitting by the fire enjoying our coffee and wine! Would stay again :)
This is a beautiful cottage with a great gas fireplace to keep you warm and cozy. The neighborhood location is very convenient to lots of things in Monterey. We had fun running to the beach and exploring the wharfs.
Lisaâs 1910 artist cottage is wonderful. Beautifully restored, simply and tastefully decorated, well-provisioned, comfortable, and quiet. We had a great stay!
A lovely house in a quiet and safe neighbourhood in walking distance of the centre of town. We found it well equipped (especially the kitchen) and very comfortable, and everything was clean and tiny. There was a parking space right outside by the gate, and the garden even had redwoods in it! Our only real problem was that the rain in the night was very noisy on the roof in the bedroom (we stayed in January). If it had not rained, we would have had a faultless experience.
Five stars for Lisa's charming, impeccably clean and ideally located property. My wife and I visited our son and his family. The three grandkids came over (one at a time so grandpa remained centered) and we had a perfect vacation. This was the best VRBO we have stayed in. Lisa was always prompt, responsive and gracious answering any and all of our questions during our 11 day visit. You will love this wonderful house. We will be back again soon!
If your looking for a lot of MODERN CREATURE COMFORTS this is possibly not your place. House was built in 1916 and the owners have worked hard to make it a comfortable home.
Heating System on the bottom floor is awkward to operate that it has no thermostat that you can set so when you turn it on itâs what you get!
Unfortunately, same for upstairs.
We didnât need to try the cooling system. The weather while we were there was very cool.
In my opinion the bathrooms could use Grab Bars.
All and all if your not looking for a four or five star property this might work. It is a quaint older property.
A highlight of the property for us was its proximity to the down town area and very easy to get around to all the tourist sites, restaurants and grocery stores.
Would we go back and stay here again? If we were younger, we are 82 and 79 respectively maybe so.
But with the amount of steps that are required to climb between floors and the lack of safety appliances we would probably not.
In finishing up âŠ. I WILL say you couldnât ask for a more gracious and accommodating Host. Lisa was the best!
Best of luck to them as they continue to rent this home out.
Sincerely,
Tony & Aleita Pizzo
This is a nicely fixed-up older home in a nice neighborhood that is conveniently close to many places. Add in 2 large TVs, comfortable furniture, and a well stocked kitchen, and our stay was a pleasure.
We needed somewhere to stay since we were working as food vendors at the Monterey County Fair. This place was perfect for my team of 4. With 2 bathrooms and 3 beds. It was very quiet and clean. Will definitely stay here again for next years fair.
This was a family/business trip, and while I had to work, the family spent a lot of time both at the house and around the beautiful water that surrounds this area. The house was perfect, and kids loved and were amazed how well the space was utilized! The place had a feel of the mountains/forest.
Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a very cozy, wonderfully located house.
