One bedroom apartment unit in a beautiful historic neighborhood. Remodeled bathroom. Tempur-pedic king mattress., 65 inch smart TV. Great location, close to San Francisco, State University, five minutes walk to Japan town, two blocks from Bart.
We were there for a festival in Japan Town, so the location was absolutely perfect as we could easily walk and did not have to worry about finding parking. I had originally booked a different unit for the wrong weekend. It was very easy to cancel and rebook for the correct weekend. Although I wish the first unit was available for the dates I needed, the one we had worked well for us. Only weird thing was that we only had bath towels, no hand towels or washcloths. No biggie. Will definitely consider this staying here if I visit San Joe again.
i booked n paid months in advance i even stayed in property previously n we discussed that i would be returning and dates i would be returning. i flew in and contacted host because i had not received my check in info. i was told no info n not helped at all so i had no place to stay on a holiday weekend when i flew in fromout of state on holiday weekend with plans to attend an event. very fudapppinted in how i was treated
It's a beautiful, historic property but the room I stayed in was really dirty. There are bad stains on the carpet, old uncomfortable furniture, chipped paint everywhere, cobwebs in the closet, and mold in the bathroom. It was gross!
On the plus side the bed was new and really comfortable. The smart TV was new, and there is a working AC and mini-fridge. FYI - This is a room in a house, not a standalone "unit" as it suggests on the website. It does have a private bathroom. There's a key code both at the front door of the house and the room. The host was easy to get ahold of when I was initially given the wrong code.
It's a cool neighborhood (Japantown) with good restaurants and shops and a market all walking distance.
If the owners are reading this - PLEASE replace the carpet and clean up all the chipped pain and scratches on the walls! Even the throw rugs on top of the regular carpet are stained and nasty. It can't be that expensive to fix up this room. I'm a former VRBO owner and I would never have rented a property in this condition.
If you don't mind a grungy room, it might be worth staying there...but buyer beware!
This historic property was cute but could have been maintained better. Just small things... the drawers in my room each had junk in them, instead of being cleared for use by guests. I combined the junk into a smaller # of drawers so I could use them. The grate on the kitchen floor was full of crap. The main refrigerator in the common kitchen had stuff in front of it so you couldn't use it. It seemed like no one had been spending time there putting things aright. My unit was comfortable... we were using the pull out sofa, which left very little room for walking around! But the beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was nice. The pull out bed was queen sized I believe and as comfortable as a regular bed. There was a window AC and a small radiator for heat.
So close to Japantown and being in the historical district was nice and meeting other guests in the morning, the night was quiet, really no street noise!
Cute property. Good location for attending events at Levi stadium. Bedding, linens and bathroom very clean. Overall could use a coat of paint and a carpet cleaning. Host was very nice and responsive. Overall good stay.
The house is absolutely gorgeous. The bed was actual more comfortable than our bed at home. Totally walkable during the day. We would suggest Uber or Lyft at night.
Overall, loved the property and would recommend to anyone visiting the San Jose downtown/Japantown area.
