Escape to our newly remodeled home in the heart of Kerhonkson. Lots of country charm and custom detail. Wake up and move to the cozy window seat to drink a cup of coffee and watch the deer wander by in the large open field. We're country close to great hiking, biking, climbing, antiquing, eating and even closer to just hanging out and relaxing. Rustic country charm meets a modern flair. During our recent renovation, I salvaged wood from an old pump station and with the help of a local master carpenter, built a custom barn door, floating shelves and the bathroom vanity. Each of the bedrooms has its own unique country character. All new beds in each room means that even if the look is vintage, the comfort is contemporary. Bathrooms are both also updated with modern fixtures and radiant floors in the larger bathroom. This place has something beautiful for everyone.
Easy to find. Because of the rain,a few bugs and ants around but not too bad. . Could have more screens in windows to open the windows up for air circulation.
I first bought and began renovating this house in 2000. After 9/11, my now wife and I moved up from the city full time. Robin worked as a teacher in the local school and I did consulting work. We then rented it out to a family for ten years. Over that time the house was pretty much trashed. I spent this past summer bringing the house back and trying to take it to a new place with what Robin calls "the kind of custom details most people wouldn't bother to do". A friend was knocking down some old structures on his property so I went and salvaged the wood, planed it down and with the help of a master carpenter, build a barn door, shelves and a bathroom vanity. The goal was to bring back the country farm-house feel but with an updated and modern look.
The woods around the house have the one thing we could never get in the City...quiet. The vibe there is just so peaceful. It's like nothing else I know.
And on a clear night, you've never seen so many stars.
