First floor One of the bedrooms on the first floor is tiny. The three other bedrooms are small, one has no closet.
Basement The main bedroom is downstairs. To get down you must use a spiral staircase. Also the bigger bathroom is downstairs with a heated floor.
This house was built in 1902, modified and split into 2 apartments sometime in the 40's. It has oddities and quirks. It has 2 back doors. You must watch your step throughout.
This House is in the Heart of Oak Park. Centrally located one block from Madison St. Easy access to the expressway. 1- 24 hour private parking space is included. Walking distance from either the Blue Line Train or the Green Line Train. Business travelers delight. Each room has one bed. Dunkin Doughnuts, McDonald's and CVS all within a 5 minute walk. Close to Oak Park River Forest Highschool and Fenwick Highschool.
If you have more than 1 cars additional parking information can be found here : http://www.ppprk.com/park
Great spot for our family and friends while attending a conference in Chicago. Nice walk to the L-train. Great restaurants in Oak Park. Enjoyed having laundry capabilities! Easy check in and check out. Responsive property manager.
This house has it all from clean linen to bedtime tea. The house itself is too awesome vey unique and plenty of room for all 5 of us. I felt very safe as well with double entrances and all. The bath tub was great and laundry room very helpful! The patio was nice we hung out there few of our nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as all the details were thought of by the homeowner. I definitely recommend this stay!
Oak Park is great. Home is in the heart of a really cool town. Walking distance to the elevated commuter train. House was clean, smartly decorated and had comfortable beds. Host was in contact by text to make sure everything was okay. Five stars.
This house was fabulous. We were actually able to rent the entire house and it worked very well for our family! Plenty of beds for everyone. Well appointed... we had everything we needed including a CTA map. Convenient location to visit with family in Oak Park but also easy to get on the CTA or drive downtown. Plenty of stores and restaurants located nearby. Owner was very responsive and helpful! Would highly recommend for its space and convenience!
We had a nice family visit to our relatives in Oak Park - we needed a place nearby for our 6 adults for a few nights and this definitely fit the bill. There were actually 2 more bedrooms (5 total) than the three that were advertised, so that was nice. It is split on 2 levels with one bedroom / bathroom downstairs (spiral staircase) and 4 bedrooms upstairs with one bath. However, lucky for us it was just a place to get rest as we were out & about otherwise. The place was very well stocked (more than other VRBO's I've been to) with enough towels / TP / etc and kitchen was very usable (though we didn't cook). Would use again in the future if such a similar trip for us arises.
Fantastic, big house, great size rooms, very accurate description
This house is big and great. I wish I could give 4.5 stars instead of 4 for an overall rating. The house is a very short walk from the green line train. The green line goes all the way downtown with no transfers and is extremely convenient and a big huge time and money saver. Traffic and parking in Chicago is just ridiculous. Being by the train is a huge bonus. The only downside for the house is the size/functionality of the second shower. It's small and hard to get in/out of. The second bath and last bedroom are downstairs. and there is a very tight spiral staircase to get down there. Other than those two items, the house, location, and host are perfect. Highly recommend this one.
Best accommodations for the price anywhere in Chicagoland
The host takes very good care of the property & very mindful of guestsâ experience. The place is very clean & nicely decorated.
I particularly appreciate all the little things that Michael does for guests, e.g. filtered water pitchers, providing high quality toiletries, having multiple night lights, plenty of towels & plenty of places to hang up towels. Very few places I have stayed actually have enough places to hang up towels, which is a pet peeve of mine. How can you be expected to reuse towels if you canât hang them up?!
The neighborhood is also quite lovely. I have lived in a nearby suburb several years ago & was slightly apprehensive about the area, but it has changed considerably in the past 10 years & I felt perfectly fine walking around.
The fact that the space has a parking spot is also a HUGE benefit. For those who have never been to Oak Park before, I cannot overemphasize how important it is to have a parking spot.
Michael was really kind about helping us figure out parking for the one night we had 2 cars. Though I didnât actually meet him in person, he seems like a really good human being.
I would absolutely stay there again if I come back to the Chicago area.
