The apartment was clean and just like pictures. There were bare minimum of bedding and the futon in the living room was broken. Unfortunately the people in the apartment above were very loud and made sleeping difficult. The location was good. Easy walk to center city a restaurants.
Good side: The listing was accurate, clean and practical appartment. The pressure in the shower was very good.
Needs improvement: Curtains in the twin bedroom would be a must.
The pictures on the listing donât show the graffiti on the building and the bars on the 1st floor windows. Instead of full shampoo/conditioner/body wash as advertised, I was given a travel size shampoo/conditioner/lotion bottle for 3 people for 5 days. There were only 3 spoons, 4 forks and 3 knives so I was constantly doing dishes. The view shown on the ad is not the one from the VRBO I was in. The neighborhood is sketchy, but is about 2 blocks from a nicer neighborhood. I had booked full day activities which didnât leave time to find another place, otherwise I would have moved.
The shower pressure was good and the bathroom walls and floors were nice.
We enjoyed our stay. Place was clean and owner communicated well. Check in was easy, unit was well equipped for our needs.
15 minute walk to Reading Market/ convention center. 20 ish minutes to Franklin Institute/ Philly museum of art (Rocky statue)/ Drexel Academy of Natural Science. Uber to Citizens Bank Park was easy enough, train was an option as well.
Adequate linens and toiletries were provided. Not the best bed Iâve ever slept in, but it wasnât bad. Springs were a touch noisy is the only real complaint.
Great pizza across the street.
Only time we cooked in the unit was reheating said pizza. I wouldnât say is was well equipped but it had some plates and stuff.
The area near the unit is in transition a bit. Never felt unsafe, but there was a perceived roughness from several of the nearby shops. (Beer store and small market) Mixed in were what seemed to be new hip places. The owner of the pizzeria confirmed to me the area is evolving and has changed a lot over the last 3 years or so.
I would totally stay here again if I was going back to Philly for the market and museums.
Les points faibles : Communication et emplacement
As a midwesterner, I wouldnât say this is family-friendly.
1) I had to wait until the day of check in to get the door security codes. I didnât get the WiFi information until we were already inside. I have booked other condo/apartment rentals and that kind of information is usually sent in a comprehensive email with all details well in advance.
2) the parking âbehind the buildingâ is only accessed through a small alley type street. It should really fit one car parked horizontally but it is set up for 2 cars to be parked vertically but you could never fit any 2 normal size sedan, SUV or minivan in these spots.
3) we are on a 2 week east coast trip, so we have a minivan full of luggage/supplies. We had to park in front of the building in a âloading zoneâ to empty the van and carry it all up a narrow, old staircase.
4) because we couldnât fit in the space behind the unit, we parked in a secure garage 7-10 minutes away for $32/day.
5) the bedrooms need room darkening window coverings. The second âbedroomâ (no closet, very small) has no curtain at all. This room has a small I k e a type bunk bed that is flipped backwards so the ladder is not accessible.
6) the area feels sketchy for someone not from an urban area. Many homeless people around.
Good-inside the apartment is true to the photos. It was pretty clean. It wasnât too far away from a safer part of town.
