À propos de cet hĂ©bergement

Internationally Flavored Cabin in Paradise Valley, SW Montana

Nestled at the base of Tom Miner Basin, the cabin offers privacy and impressive views of the Yellowstone River, Tom Miner Basin, & Paradise Valley. Close to blue ribbon fishing access points and many other destinations and 30 mins from Yellowstone National Park

Reclaimed log from a 1906 cabin and aged barn wood creates a rustic ambiance with modern touches. The owners, Drew & Ellen, have designed the cabin with local materials and worldly treasures to reflect their love of travel and appreciation for local traditions & history.

We welcome a wide range of guests looking for a rustic, traditional Montana log cabin experience. This cabin offers all that, along with enough modern amenities to provide you with an enjoyable and comfortable holiday.

The cabin comprises a large open-plan lounge, dining room, kitchen, and full bathroom downstairs. A stone fireplace separates the kitchen and living room areas. In the upstairs loft, there is a cozy bedroom and half bath.

The living area is spacious with comfy couches, blankets, distance sitting areas, and a 40" flat-screen smart TV for relaxing at night. There is an office area in the corner with a desk, chair, lamp, and wifi that can be accessed throughout the cabin. The library shelves contain a range of novels and magazines and books on Montana wildlife, nature, Yellowstone National Park, and other Southwest Montana outdoor adventures. There is a range of art displayed on the walls, including the owner's photos (for sale on request) and art from around the world. Rugs from India cover the reclaimed wooden floors. A taste of Montana tradition is provided by taxidermied trout and a found elk skull and antlers that Drew treated and mounted himself.

There is a kitchen with all the amenities needed to cook and serve simple meals, including a gas oven and stovetop, microwave, hand mixer, food processor, various-sized baking dishes, basic cutlery, utensils, plate ware, and a coffee maker. The island is a good space for cooking, and the wooden dining table faces floor-to-ceiling glass doors for views of Tom Miner Basin and Yankee Jim Canyon. The tile on the kitchen island, countertops, and backsplash are from Dolores, Hidalgo, Mexico.

Behind the kitchen is a full bathroom with a claw-foot tub and rain-head shower. The stairs lead to the main bedroom in the cozy loft with a king bed and half bath.

For relaxing evenings, you can utilize the gas grill and eat at the outdoor table or sit in an Adirondack chair or one of the swinging benches on the wooden porches. You can choose your view from the various decks and porches: out towards Tom Miner Basin, Dome Mountain, the Yellowstone River Valley, Absaroka Mountains, or the Yellowstone River.

We do not have air conditioning, but we have fans, screened doors and windows, and blinds on all our windows. You can use these technologies in combination with each other to keep the cabin at a comfortable temperature. We provide information on how to do this if it is not something you are familiar with.

While we have screens, pest mitigations, and ensure the highest cleaning standards, you are in a log cabin in Montana, and in every season, you may encounter the odd insect inside and out.

If you want to stay in a beautiful log cabin with enough modern amenities to provide a fun and comfortable experience, we welcome you to our cabin in one of the most beautiful areas in the USA. If you are looking for a different kind of experience, something more like a higher-end hotel suite or housing, we recommend you look for accommodations built in a more modern style with modern materials.

Note
The shed at the top of the driveway belongs to the owner, who may access the shed when needed. They will do their best to let you know this beforehand. The shed is situated away from the cabin and its private outdoor spaces. The owner will introduce themself if you approach them and only ever approach the cabin's private outdoor spaces if the cabin's or guests' safety is in question.

Honeymoon get-a-way

We had the best time at this property. The house is adorable and gives you that cabin feel. The views and all the wildlife (mule deer came right up to the house) also definitely made this place even better.

Wonderful Cabin in the Tom Minor Basin

This is the second time we have stayed in this wonderful cabin and hopefully it won't be our last. We love the location and the quaintness. It is quiet and feels like you are alone in the foothills but it is close to Gardiner and Yellowstone. Everything was perfect!

Stay at Cabin

Our stay was lovely. The cabin was perfect for my husband and I. We were out everyday sight seeing, three days in Yellowstone (Gardiner entrance approx. 30 min away) 1 day hiking at National Forest. Lots of animals to see right out of the cabin windows.

Magical meadow

Had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin!! Well-appointed with everything you need for a remote getaway. Definitely pay attention to the listing - the description of the driveway and general area are absolutely accurate. It was a spectacular space to spend a couple of days enjoying all that Montana has to offer. The views are amazing, the wildlife abounds, the hosts are thoughtful in their attention to detail. Already dreaming of when we can return to enjoy coffee outside at sunrise.

Yellowstone Oasis

The cabin is fantastic—exactly as advertised. Communication was great. I cycled daily from the cabin along the Old Yellowstone Highway to Gardner. It is a rural cabin, so you may see a mouse or two, but there are no issues as long as your food is in the fridge or a secured cabinet. When the bridge is rebuilt, it will cut 20+ minutes from the drive into the park. That being said, it is a beautiful drive!

Second stay just as delightful as the first!

This was our second time staying at this sweet little cabin. We love this spot! Remote and private but an easy drive to the north entrance of Yellowstone. Gardiner is a great little town - check out the grocery store for all your food needs and the best selection of bourbon you’ll find outside of Kentucky! Definitely pay attention to the listing for this place - the driveway is no joke and there are some slight inconveniences that come with the remote location. It’s all described very accurately! The hosts are great and super responsive. We absolutely love this spot and I expect we’ll be repeat visitors for years to come!!

Perfect!

This being our first vacation in over 4 years, we did not know what to expect. We were blessed with the "perfect" getaway! The location could not have been better as it allowed a short drive, and easy access to Yellowstone Park. It was remote and private, allowing for incredible views, and interactions with nature. (Deer were prevalent daily, with a fawn wandering up to the cabin and bedding down in a bush early in the morning. A bald eagle also landed on our last night and watched us eat dinner on the porch swing.) The cabin was cozy, and quaint, and the perfect place to relax after exploring all that Yellowstone had to offer!

Great RUSTIC Cabin

My wife and I loved it! The kitchen space was excellent, with a very comfy bed and clean overall! Just a heads up though, there are some bugs and we did see a mouse but this is expected in a rustic cabin. Keep the shades down throughout the day and that helps with the flies. First time in Montana and it was so beautiful! Such a vast and massive landscape! We were welcomed to the cabin by 6 deer grazing on the hill when we arrived. Every day at dusk we would see mule deer, and a few mornings we'd see a coyote roaming. Very cool! Overall, we had a great experience. One hour from Bozeman and half an hour from Gardiner. You definitely need 4WD because of the steep drive, and we highly recommend reading the guest book once you get there for more info.

Great location/problem with bugs

The cabin was located close to many activities only 7 miles away from a great widelife viewing area. The only down fall was wasps and beetles in the room. But once we spent time killing them after getting there no more problems. Bugs were somewhat excpepected being a cabin. Great experience over all.

Lovely retreat

My husband and I were looking for a quiet fall getaway, where we could also bring our dog. We loved this cabin. It was private. It’s in a beautiful area. It’s cozy and welcoming. We loved the wood stove and it kept the cabin really warm. We cooked dinner every night. We enjoyed the views with coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening. We didn’t go to the park but enjoyed exploring Tom Miner Basin, the East Road, and around Gardiner. We hiked, fished, read, and enjoyed delicious barbecue at Follow Yer Nose. Wish we were still there! Happy the owners are willing to share it.

Unfortunately a disappointment.

We search for a property outside of Yellowstone National Park that would provide a wonderful wilderness experience. Initially this property caught our eye by the pictures and description. The location to Yellowstone's North Entrance was also a big plus. Upon arrival, there unfortunately were several glaring and in our opinion, safety issues. 1. No notice until the day of that main bridge at Tom Miner Basin (Carbella Bridge) was destroyed in June 2022 flooding. We had no cell reception at the time so we had to drive 20mins back north to call Tanya. To then only hear we needed to drive on an old truck route to access the property, which was a dirt road with a few spots with steep drop offs. 2. Despite stating 4WD vehicles are a must for the driveway, it is narrow and extremely steep. It's a good thing it wasn't raining or wet. 3. The property itself had numerous damaged screen windows, including the front door, with pick lock as the security. No/damanged screens on windows upstairs. 4. No air conditioning which is a small issue if not for the damaged screens that could let insects in all night long. Including bees, mosquitoes, etc. Unfortunately having been hospitalized due to bee stings this was unacceptable. Without AC, inside the property was at least 85 degrees at 9pm at night. 5. Due to the previous safety concerns we packed our vehicle back up and left the property that night to seek out better accommodations. 6. Upon arriving at other accommodations we read previous reviews on VRBO & elsewhere that listed similar issues for over more than a year (it doesn't take a year to replace window screens). We wish we read this beforehand. 7. Upon informing Tanya Smith about these glaring issues, and asking for at least a partial refund she stated 'you have no valid complaints' The health and safety of my spouse and myself are very valid complaints. The safety of the front door in bear country is a valid safety concern. For prospective VRBO'ers searching this property be aware of these issues and the difficulties of dealing with this property manager. Communication between us in VRBO chat after intial booking questings only consisted of her request for payment which she said was VRBO requesting not her. There should have been immediate communication about bridge &/or road damage since we are not Montana locals. There should have been mention of no AC & the property should have had adequate window screens.

Loved this cabin!

My wife and I spent 7 nights here and did not want to leave. We watched deer walking right by us most mornings and evenings while we were taking in the beautiful Montana montain views. We also kept the hummingbird feeder refreshed and enjoyed watching them visit. The cabin was clean and cozy with plenty of room for two. As stated 4wd necessary for the driveway. With the north entrance to yellowstone closed we still had a blast fishing and driving around Paradise Valley taking in the views and wildlife. We loved our stay here and would stay again! We highly recommend this rustic Montana mountain cabin!

Beautiful, Quiet & Quaint!!

We are from Southwest Ohio, This was our first time out to Montana and coming out west. I was looking for a cabin not a hotel/motel, resort or any place that was in a busy area
I wanted quiet, peaceful, charming and a quaint place and this cabin did NOT disappoint!!! This cabin is very cozy, comfortable and charming. I absolutely loved it!! I’m so glad I picked this place. So much character. Only thing I wish
I could have stayed longer. The cabin has everything you need and if not you have to go to the grocery anyways. So go to the cabin first, make a list of what you might need or want. There is a grocery 35mins away in Livingston or a nice market 25-30mins away in Gardiner. I highly recommend: Matt’s Butcher Shop in Livingston, Sportsman’s in Bozeman, Earth’s Treasures in Bozeman and The Cowboy Grille in Gardiner! I would still go visit the town Gardiner, a lot is closed but there are several shops still open worth going and shopping, lots of cute finds, the towns people would appreciate it!! We left our $60 bear spray for the next visitors, thankfully we didn’t have to use it and it’s good until 9/25 (we left it on the desk with a note, carry, pass on and leave for the next visitors. Save a little money). There is a hummingbird feeder on the front porch, 2 different kinds hummingbirds frequent all day long so we bought a pack of sugar and made more food for them and left it in the cabinet (it’s 1cup sugar 4cups hot water, if it’s still there and someone wants to make it. Sept-Mar. it’s 1/3 parts, kinda a birder LOL!!) Even though you have to drive 30 mins either direction to get to a town, that’s okay just plan accordingly. And with the flood Emigrant & Gardiner just got hit with in June 2022, yes it takes almost 3hrs to get to the west entrance of Yellowstone (due to the North entrance being closed, we were told by workers in Gardiner that they are being told it will be maybe a year before the road/bridge will be rebuilt, hopefully a temporary road/bridge will be done in the mean time) so if you’re planning on visiting there, especially more than one day, maybe book an overnight stay closer to the west entrance to save the 6hr drive. We stayed at the cabin 7nights, one night close to Yellowstone for our 2day back to back trip. Besides coming to YNP, I came out to Montana for the scenery and wildlife. I’m completely fascinated with the rivers and creeks and how clear the waters are in most of them. The pics are amazing. Thanks Tanya!

Incredible

Pictures don’t do this gorgeous property justice. I spent weeks searching for Montana cabins for our honeymoon before finding (and immediately booking) this one. We had high expectations for this place, and it exceeded them. The cabin itself is spacious but cozy, and it’s beautiful. We loved the decor. The amenities (claw foot tub, washer and dryer, kitchen supplies) were great. The property and views are amazing, to say the least. You have total privacy (at night you can just barely see another cabin or two far across the basin), but you’re only a 15 or 20 minute drive to the nearest town. There’s of course so much to do in the area, like fly fishing and hot springs. Tanya was a lovely host and made sure we had everything we needed, but gave us our privacy. We’ve been missing this place since we left and can’t wait to come back. Thank you, Tanya!!

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

After adventuring and exploring the local area, enjoy peaceful downtime in a unique area bordering Yellowstone National Park, with no access roads or crowds. There is often fantastic wildlife viewing at the top of Tom Miner Basin, a 10-minute drive from the cabin.

We are a <30-minute drive to Gardiner, the northern entrance to Yellowstone Park. Several raft companies operate from Gardiner, as well as great eating and drinking places and plenty of gift shopping.

Yellowstone Hot Springs in Corwin Springs is 20 minutes south and 20 minutes north; you can visit the historic Chico Hot Spring and enjoy a fancy dinner or a bar meal afterward. The tiny town of Emigrant, 15 minutes north on H89, with the Old Saloon, BBQ place, live music venue, and Sage Resort, offers an impressive amount of live music and good eating and drinking all year round.

For Outdoor adventure enthusiasts:
There are low-key hiking, mountain biking, and walking opportunities from the front door and numerous hiking trails for all ability levels close by in Paradise Valley and YNP, as well as mountain bike-friendly trails in the public land nearby. The Yellowstone River is half a mile away, with access to the river at the bottom of Yankee Jim Canyon. River access points for fly-fishing and water sports are within very easy driving distance from the cabin. If you are a mountain climber, there are mountains all around the cabin, with options for all ability levels and accessible at all times of the year. For rock climbers, the closest crags are Allenspur Crag near Livingstone and the Bozeman Pass climbing area.
