The place is dated, window frames show water damage, pots and pans need replacing BUT if you aren’t expecting the Ritz Carlton (and you certainly aren’t paying for the ritz Carlton) you won’t be disappointed. Location great, beach great, views great and very comfortable. Quiet complex would definitely stay again

We love Hale Kai!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love Hale Kai and have been brining our growing family for close to a decade. #211 was nice and spacious and was wonderful to have the upstairs loft and bathroom for our kids. The unit is a little dark (which helped everyone sleep), and not as ocean front as we are used to, but it was clean and well maintained. Could use some upgrades, but you can't beat the location of Hale Kai.

My Happy Place

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I stay at Hale Kai everytime I visit Maui. It's in a perfect location. Everything you'd need is within walking distance. Plus Maui has an exceptional transportation system and the bus stop is just steps away. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. I always find the unit in spotless condition. My sister and niece traveled with me this year and are already talking about next year. We had a wonderful time. I can highly recommend Hale Kai if you're looking for a reasonably priced unit in a great location.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We all felt that the unit was not cleaned well before we checked in esp the floors. upstairs bath needs some work. The kitchen needs a larger bread board as well as some plastic wrap/foil and a couple covered Tupperware type bowls (there were no bowls with lids ) No extra sheets upstairs and I suggest one more roll of tp per bathroom as rolls were super small and very thin paper (we stayed 11 nights). Both bathrooms were completely out

Amazing View, Verify the AC Before Booking

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We recently stayed at Hale Kai #211 for a week during our family vacation in Maui. The location and ocean view from the balcony were definitely the highlights of our stay. Watching the sunsets and listening to the waves made for a beautiful setting.However, there were a few things future guests should know before booking. When we arrived, the unit was extremely hot (around 95°F) and very humid. The listing photos clearly show air conditioning units upstairs and downstairs, but the listing did not explain that the AC was not operational. During our entire seven-day stay, the AC never worked. Once the afternoon trade winds picked up, the downstairs became comfortable, but the upstairs remained very hot, making it difficult for our kids to sleep. We had to come up with our own way to keep the upstairs cool enough for them.The kitchen was also missing several basic items that we would expect in a vacation rental, including spatulas and food storage containers. It felt only partially equipped for guests planning to cook meals.Overall, the condo has a fantastic ocean view and a great location, but I would encourage anyone considering this unit—especially families with guests sleeping upstairs—to confirm the air conditioning situation before booking. If working AC is important to you, particularly during the warmer months, this is something you'll want to verify in advance.

Hale Kai or Hale ByeBye?

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: While the location of Halr Kai is nearly perfect for us, the condo we rented has seen its glory fade to a shabby version of its former self. We arrived to a rather dark, dingy apartment with nine burned out lightbulbs, numerous unworking power plugs, rotted window frames, filthy furniture, and a next door neighbor (full time tenant wovrks for the complex) with a barking dog. I’ve stayed at Hale Kai three or four times previously — the first time in 1985, and each of the units have been very pleasant. Unit 112, not so much. The crew at Hale Kai were great! They were all smiles and helpfulness. As I said, the location is fantastic, with a community park next door and a pool overlooking the ocean. The grounds and exterior are meticulously groomed.

My Secret Little Happy Place

Walkable to groceries, morning coffee and restaurants. Decor is straight out of the 70s but the unit is immaculately clean and well equipped. Love the park/ocean view off the deck. Only downside is the street noise at night. But, it's right off the street so it's to be expected and it's not overwhelming.

Perfect two week trip to Maui

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit and complex were great, just as described. The office was very helpful. We made many friends hanging out at the pool at sunset, and saw turtles at the beach almost every day. The coffee shop and farmers market across the street was convenient. We went to many nearby beaches, but Napili Bay was our favorite.
