We enjoyed the stay at Sugarview Villa. Loved the Coral Bay area, great local businesses. Not to far from a variety of beaches. A few minor issues with the dryer and water coming in the slider door in a downpour but nothing that would stop us from booking again. Loved the donkeys that came to visit!

Everything about this property and our stay was outstanding. Communications with the property manager were super efficient and welcoming, the views were stunning, the house was super clean and even more spacious than the photos show. The house was well equipped with basic necessities, like laundry soap, bug spray, beach gear and a large assortment of games for us to play in the evenings after the little ones were in bed. The location could not have been better, far away from the hustle and bustle of Cruz Bay, but within our own little community with shops, restaurants, and a store in Coral Bay.

We enjoyed everything about our stay. We were very thankful Leo met us and guided us to the villa. Everything in the villa was just as advertised. We had 7 people and there was plenty of space for us all. The only thing we might add is another comfortable chair or loveseat. The beach towels and beach chairs came in very handy. Another family was in the smaller house but it didn’t bother us. The washer and dryer were also a plus. Overall it was a great week long stay!

Fantastic Vacation

You’ll need a rental car! It’s a fantastic property and I highly recommend it to anyone on the fence. The view from the pool area is fantastic with sunrise to boot, snorkeling nearby is fantastic and walkable to Brown Bay, a less well known gem!

3 weeks of bliss!

It is never long enough on this quiet end of St John and Sugarview was a great base for us to easily reach all the beaches (east end, south and north beaches) as well as Coral Bay restaurants when we didn’t want to cook. Well stocked kitchen with comfy beds and space to relax.

Lovely stay

Had a wonderful time on St.John staying at this beautiful home with a gorgeous view. Plenty of room and comfortable. Only issues were the tvs wouldn’t work for us and the back door wouldn’t lock. Also some of the remotes for AC units didn’t work. However we would return because these are easy fixes. The pool is not heated either.

Lovely home

We enjoyed our stay at this home. It had everything we needed. The bedrooms each have their own a/c. The main living area also has a/c. Everything we need during our stay was in the home. We cooked several times and we weren’t missing anything. The host met us upon arrival to insure we had everything and was accesible during our entire visit. We were even able to extend our stay seamlessly. From a few pictures it looked to me like it was lower and just off the water, however, the home has an amazing view as it is the second from the top of the peak. The home is also pet friendly with a small grass yard. Absolutely perfect.

Location & Views Ideal

Even though we had several issues while staying here, I would probably book this house again for it's location and unbelievable sunrises! The house needs a little TLC. Some wear and tear. All issues were addressed quickly usually within a day or two. It had a lot of positives not always found in houses on St John like filtered water (at kitchen sink only-small spigot) and solar power which kicks in during regular power outages. The washer and dryer was a big plus too. Manager, Tim, very personable. Housekeeping, Nina and Leo (sisters) were very sweet. All in all, our family had a pleasant stay.

January, 2025

Beautiful location in Coral Bay overlooking Hurricane Harbor. Had two families (4 adults, 4 adult children) stay at the property. The property was an ideal size for the number of guests (4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths). House was equipped with beach chairs (5) (we used the house chairs) and snorkels and swim fins (we brought our own).Parking was sufficient (turning around can be a bit trickly if the separate unit was rented out and there are three cars.).Kitchen was well apportioned with pots/pans/etc. We used the air fryer quite a bit. There were only four chairs for the kitchen table (even though the table would fit 8 (so we ended up using additional chairs at the property to seat the 8 of us. Pool and pool deck were well maintained (we did not use them that frequently). Gas grill was an added bonus.

Hidden Gem

So glad our family was able to find this place. The house was so clean and very well stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal. The air fryer was used as well to re heat leftovers. The kerig with the coffee and hot chocolate pods were a plus. The pool was a plus for the family as well. The weather was so beautiful we were able to leave the windows open and enjoy the fresh beautiful breeze. Amazing views of the ocean, also the deer and donkeys were an added plus, the house was very spacious, and quiet, it was great to have all the beach chairs, sunscreen, cooler and snorkel gear to take to the beach's so we did not have to rent them. I will be telling all my family and friends, to check this out and rent this, for there next family vacations. Memories were definitely made this week. Thank You Matt for sharing your beautiful home.

Great place, check in could be streamlined

The home was very clean and the view is absolutely stunning. The was my first vrbo rental that required meeting with the property manager before going to the rental. Due to cell signal issues, I could not contact the manager/owner for nearly 30 minutes. We then pulled off at the meeting spot where we were finally able to send a text...but we had to wait outside for the manager. After travelling for 12 hours we just wanted to get there. We did find that 2 TVs were not working. We did contact the manager who said she was stopping by but never heard anything after that. The TVs for not work for our entire visit. We also found that there were very few hooks to hang things. There was one hook in each bathroom which allowed us to hang two towels. With 6 people this was a real struggle. I'd also suggest hooks in the showers so wet swimwear could be hung up to dry.

Family Summer vacation 2023

We had a fantastic time in this VRBO - the home is spacious so our 2 teenagers had their own room (plus another one to hang in) and their own bathrooms. They just had to share the shower in 1 of them. As parents, we had our OWN side, with a separate living area as well as small kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. It was super private and allowed us to get up for coffee and watch the sunrise without waking the teens The kitchen was stocked, comfy couch and loved having the pool to cool off in after a beach day, LOVED all the chairs, snorkel equipment and coolers - we used them everyday. Location was perfect - far enough away from Cruzy bay, but close enough to beaches and restaurants. We enjoyed the views every morning of Hurricane hole and LOVED seeing the donkeys, goats and chickens on the road everyday. The gate at the bottom wasn't working, so we kept 1 side open and did have 1 donkey come up by the house 1 day - but gone by the time we got back from dinner. It was actually a highlight for us!

Sugarview was fantastic!

The home was beautiful, in a great coral bay location with good access to the best north shore beaches, the east end beaches, and restaurants. The house had plenty of room, we could easily have shared with another family of 3-4 as it has two separate living areas. The amenities were very useful, especially the shampoo, soaps, beach chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear, and cooler. It was nice to come home from the beach and relax by the pool, grill, and admire the views. Everything you need is at the house! Matt was an awesome host with great advice prior to the trip. Tim and Leo provided fantastic on island support throughout , guiding us to the house and talking to us about any issues that arose (power outage, one ac unit not working ) Very responsive and helpful. Pro tips: rent kayaks or sups at Hansen beach (sup 15$/day rather than $35/2hours at maho) Loved the snorkeling at waterlemon, cinnamon, maho, south haulover, and salt pond. Hike to rams head from salt pond was beautiful. Really enjoyed skinny legs, rhumb lines, and miss Lucy’s in coral bay. The Beach bar in Cruz bay before catching the ferry back to st Thomas was good. Whole family loved Cruz bay Watersports pizza pi snorkeling trip that leaves from the Westin. Great value, tons of food and drinks included! Some of the best snorkeling we did. We will definitely look to stay here again. Thank you!
