We've stayed here before and we will come back again! The house is really pretty, and very well stocked for a large family like ours! The bikes and toys on property are an added bonus and the owners are wonderful and very accommodating!
Lovely, nicely furnished, very comfortable beds, and a nicely stocked kitchen. Very nice and cozy apartment above the garage. Hosts were always available for questions and help. Only issue was the phone system, needed to travel a bit to get reception. We loved our stay, and would highly recommend!
Overall the house provided everything we needed for our 3 generation Christmas. Everyone had a comfortable bed and the house was large enough for 9 people to not be on top of one another. Check in and out was easy. The kids loved playing in the snow, building snowman and forts. Location was good to snow activities and not too far from town to get supplies. House was well appointed with bedding, towels, kitchenware, washer/dryer. Multiple crock pots were great!
Drawbacks: needed the binder to provide more information than how to use the tvâs. I am used to helpful hints on appliances and local restaurant and activity recommendations. The house is super dark, lighting was an issue when wanting to play games or for putting on makeup. The electronics are out of date (unable to connect to streaming services for Christmas movies was a bummer). Inclined driveway was dangerous with ice (car slid down). No shampoo! Had to rewash towels as they had a soiled smell. Struggled with ovens (left one doesnât work as well as right). Nest thermostat kept losing power which was disconcerting. We made it work and nothing took away from having a good time.
The home was very clean and very accommodating for an extended family of all ages. Had a great kitchen for several cooks (Which our family has a lot of). Very clean when we arrived. Itâs the perfect getaway for any busy person.
We could not have been happier with our stay at The Little Ahwahnee! It exceeded our expectations and we are already hoping for a return visit to this beautiful property! It was clean, well appointed, beautifully decorated and spacious. The kitchen included everything needed and the master suites were lovely. The downstairs was the perfect spot for movies and would be great for younger adults to hang out. It is located within walking distance to Chambers, which was nice. We could not have had a better stay. Thank you for sharing this lovely home with us!
Owners were very available and helpful. Beautiful construction and detail in the home. If you like to cook youâll be in heaven. Excellent location for beaches, bike trails and hiking.
This is a beautiful, unusual and artistic home obviously built with great love and attention to every detail. It was perfect for our family of 6 adults and 4 children. Each couple had their own bedroom and bath; the kids had the downstairs to themselves. Every bed was comfortable and the linens and towels were first class. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything a gourmet chef could desire, the long table fit all 10 of us easily, and the decor was true Ahwahnee. The owners were understanding and easily reached by phone. The only thing we missed was outdoor seating for a large group and a gas barbeque for easier grilling. However, it was a wonderful experience in a very unique home.
Wonderful stay in National Park Lodge Inspired House
We stayed here for 8 nights with our family and had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful, well-furnished, and has many artistic details. We enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen. We loved the bathroom with the built-in fireplace in the guest cottage. Our hosts were extremely generous and very communicative. Highly recommended!
Are just traveling back from a great vacation at this house. The house was spotless and very well equipped. It literally had everything you would need.
I would definitely recommend a stay at this property
We had a large family and needed a cabin that gave us enough rooms and areas to relax inside and outside. The separate master bedroom cabin next to the main cabin was perfect and gave my parents privacy. Lots of wood, detail, and an older lodge feeling.
With a bathroom for every bedroom, two rooms downstairs with 3 twins each for all the kids, and 3 more rooms for adults, this home was really thoughtfully designed with families in mind. The kitchen is stocked for a chef. I usually bring everything I need with me for cooking for a crowd because undoubtedly there isnât a pot or skillet big enough or a salad bowl large enough. Or knife sharp enough! That will never happen here - it was stocked to the nines for cooking for a crowd.
Absolutely want to return!
We loved our time at this property. The cabin was beautiful and accommodated us perfectly. Location was great, we couldnât ask for more!
One thing I did want to mention so that the owner is aware, but we happened to watch a shingle from the roof blow off into the yard on Sunday evening. Otherwise everything was wonderful.
Thanks for a fantastic stay!!
We had a great time, we had two families staying over the holidays and everyone enjoyed their stay. The Kitchen was very well equipped to handle all of the hungry mouths and please or room for everyone to relax after skiing.
I wish I had a positive review to share.
Owners were responsive during our stay when we ran into several issues during our stay. We were flexible and did not make a big deal.
Some of the inconveniences include:
The main door to the yard was not functioning.
It was excessively warm inside(No A/C) and the ice maker was not hooked up so we had do buy ice. We were told that there was charcoal for the Weber, but they forgot to furnish so we can do buy at the store.
They were no instructions to run the commercial washer and dryer so called the owner who had me unplug the unit a few times to get working.
Please beware the Cleaning Fee is high compared my vrbo stays through the years. We had issue that we were not able to fit all dishes in the dishwasher (Big House, but 1 standard size dishwasher) and check out time was relatively early. As a result, the owner did not return our security deposit due to this. I called the owner and asked for an further detailed explanation. They also shared there was debris but could not provide any details (the place has poor interior lighting/dark). In other words, they apply the security deposit for the rinsed dishes in the sinck. They said they did not personally inspect the house but they were calling the house cleaner and would get back to me about the security deposit. They warned me about the housekeeper not speaking English well and hard to communicate with. After calling them, emailing and texting, they still have not followed up for 6 days and counting.
During our first morning ,we had multiple service visits from the burglar alarm and surveilance companies so we were caught off guard and was disruptive to our privacy.
Prior to our visit, we were give no instructions on how to turn off the barking dog alarm. We all got woken up in the middle night first night The laundry service showed up and broke the garage door opener. They are other issues which I will hold off on sharing

It was a great place for a large family gathering! Toys for the little ones too!!
Great location, walking distance to the lake. Nice grassy outside area for kids to run around in.
Large, well-appointed home in a great neighborhood
The house is beautiful, nicely decorated and tucked away in my favorite area of Tahoe. A 10-15 minute walk to Chambers Landing, it blends the quiet and calm atmosphere of the neighborhood with access to the Tahoma beach and social scene. The property is beautiful, the setup of the bedrooms and guest house makes it flexible for groups or families, and the hosts were responsive and kind.
I booked this house for family and friends needing accommodations for my daughterâs wedding. The house is beautiful, warm and inviting. The radiant heat warms the house without drying the air, as with forced heating. Fully stocked kitchen and lots of space through out, I would highly recommend this home for anyone wanting a place in the west Shore area of Lake Tahoe.
Kamp Knobcone was designed on a placemat while having breakfast in the grand Ahwahnee dining room. I have been a builder of fine art homes all of my life and built this home for my family retreat. We love to snowboard, hike, bicycle ride, and we created a kitchen where we all can cook together. The kitchen and Great Room with its massive fireplace are the entire main level of the home. It is where our four generation family spends time together. The heating is very comfortable in-floor hydronic.
Location, location, location. After working on Fluer de Lac in Tahoe Pines over several years, Maclyn fell in love with Lake Tahoe's West Shore and set out to find a quiet neighborhood to build his own West Shore home for his family. Kamp Knobcone backs up to trailheads into Desolation Wilderness and is a short walk to Lake Tahoe
There's really no place like Kamp Knobcone, especially when it combines all the modern amenities with timeless elegance and exquisite craftmanship. The architecture soars and the professionally furnished interior with huge original oil paintings dazzle and entice the senses! Want to skip cooking after a hard day of skiing or hiking? Top rated restaurants in Homewood include the lake view West Shore Cafe and the iconic Swiss Lakewood and on the way to Tahoe City is Sunnyside with big lake views and patio dining in the summer. In Tahoe City are fine dining at Wolfdale's Cuisine Unique, Christy Hill, and Le Petit Pier.
